We don’t need no stinkin’ oil… — 32 Comments

  1. You’re right. Not a single thing needed. Just a whole bunch of them.

  2. Look. Most of the folks in the urban areas can’t even tell you where their food comes from, never mind where the rest of what they either need or want to support themselves. And the demagogues who pander to them either don’t know themselves — or simply don’t care about the commoners, so long as they themselves are pampered and cared for. They will do anything and say anything to get the votes to seize power and keep it.

  3. The progressives don’t want to hear about your silly “facts” or your “math”.

They believe in the Magic Unicorn and that’s all they need to know.

    • The “Magic Unicorn” that predates petroleum?

      What was his name?

      Oh yes, I remember now.

      “Coal Tar”

  4. Computers, cellphones, solar panels, one time use medical equipment, bullet proof vests, modern plumbing pipe and more stuff that I can’t even imagine. If we succeed in enacting the “Green Raw Deal,” the resulting society will look on the old order Amish not as a quaint view of a past way of life, but as cutting edge technology.

  5. I’m trying to find a Silver lining here.
Necessity being the “Mother of Invention”, maybe the Unicorn will fart a bunch of stuff that actually WILL make our lives better?
One thing we can all agree on:
We live in those interesting times the Chinese warned us about.

    • Won’t it be sumfin’ if ol’ Clem has simply dun had it and comes up with sumfin that makes fusion seem SUCH a …quaint… idea?

“Wait, they did WHAT with a bailing twine and paper clips?!?!?”

  6. Big Thunk: Since petroleum has all these uses, what if we found a way to burn less of it so we could use more of it to make useful stuff?

  7. All- Good points! Anon-not if you aren’t allowed to get it out of the ground…

    Posted from my iPhone.

  8. Not to mention, oil is a major component of the components of…

    Survey says…

    (Envelope, please…)

Wind turbines and solar panels and battery banks and electric transmission and distribution systems and the fleet of vehicles that make transmission and distribution possible and the products that keep the transmission and distribution workers alive and not fried.

    Dumbasses.

But Slo Jo and the Ho have to listen to Xinnie the Pooh, and evil Nazi Soros and others of their corporate masters and puppet masters.

  9. Let’s just tell the enviro-nutjobs OK, if we don’t have to go drilling and fracking for it – maybe we make them go ROWING for it like the OLD days…
Saw a pint of Brownell’s Sperm Oil go for over $250 on eBay, and there’s a guy in Baah Haahbuh (Maine) who uncovered a couple cases of 4oz bottles while rubling an old stone building that used to be a pharmacy or general store. He’s popping them up on auction one at a time, and they’re going for about $60-$85.
Oil made from spermaceti is the FINEST mechanical lubricant EVER discovered. NASA used it on the Voyager probes. It NEVER goes rancid – I saw a 140yr old bottle and it was clear dark amber color. (You can sometimes see these exhibited at maritime museums like the whaling museum in New Bedford, MA.)

    • Spermaceti oil is, as you said, very useful in space as it is one of the few lubricants that handles vacuum very well.

No surprise then, that when a dead Sperm Whale is sighted, the securing of said spermaceti is usually done forthwith.

  10. Cassettes? Percolators? This list has been around a little while. Just like me, cause I know what those are AND how to use them.:-)

  11. More Bus loads of National Guardsmen are still arriving in Washington DC. Why?

More than 20,000, and perhapes 25,000 National Guard troops were called in to Washington DC to protect Joe Biden’s sham inauguration after the Democrats stole the 2020 election with voter fraud.
The Democrats used Our Troops as props then tossed them into a Cold Parking Garage in the dead of winter to sleep on the Cold Concrete. .
And Thousands of the National Guard will remain in DC until March as the Democrats persecute Donald Trump with a second impeachment Senate trial.
What else is the Washington swamp planning that they have to protect themselves with Military Troops?

And Why aren’t the Governors questioning the need for this Military Occupation of D.C.? Exactly what are they hiding?

  12. Akshully, the lipids from rendering down environmentalists can be used as a partial substitute. It is just the barrels per environmentalist, and total number of environmentalists are so low that you would run out of environmentalists before you finished getting the tooling set up.

You would have better results not setting up the tooling, and cremating the environmentalists instead.

  13. no horses either. too much methane, plus raising their feed.

  14. Randy- 🙂

All- Thanks and good point, not worth the effort on the envirowackos…

  15. Old NFO, the sooner we’re reduced to unthinking drones of the NWO hivemind the better.

Or you can go long $DOGE.

    Just a thought.

  16. Except for solar, if you’re going to generate the magic lightning, you must, as a friend of mine says, “spin the thing.” The power source for spinning the thing doesn’t matter. If the thing doesn’t spin, you get no magic lightning. Friction is a major reason for the thing not spinning. We use petroleum to keep friction to a minimum. You know, so the thing spins and we get the magic lightning.

  17. The people who advocate for the cessation of using petroleum products are some of the same people that ask why shouldn’t farmers and ranchers just be shut down as they can go to the grocery store and get all of their food. They live in urban areas and are divorced from reality. That is why the big cities are where all the Democrat votes come from.

    • Point of order: big cities are where all the Democrat ‘votes’ come from, due to a combination of pre-existing machines, and trading on the effects of deliberately mismanaged crime. Rural areas had less crowds to hide in, and are less effective places to conceal that one is using murdering junkie criminals as a military proxy to terrorize the lawful into submission.

  18. Something that I haven’t heard much about is Douglas Pelmear and his 110 mpg Mustang; 400 hp, 500 fp torque. He managed to solve the timing problem his father tackled back in the 1960s. He demonstrated the engine, and since then no one has heard much about him.

Does anyone know anything about this?
