What if???

An interesting proposal that I’ve seen before, and happen to agree with…

Highway 0
(Zero Illegal Crossings)

How to improve southwest border security effectiveness through efficiency.

Simply put, build a highway along as much of the southwest border from Brownsville TX to San Diego CA as feasible. Use the specifications from the Eisenhower Federal Interstate Highway System and include a concrete sound barrier wherever a “wall” is required on the southern side. Use the four border states to manage the construction as they would any Interstate Highway project with the funding being provided through the Federal Highway Administration. The states also provide the O&M after the highway is placed in service.

Proposal outcomes:
Uses existing capabilities and experienced workforce to create and maintain the physical
infrastructure needed to improve southwest border security and provides states with jobs.
State highway depts already know how to get permitting, construction, etc done.
Average cost per mile should be 30%-50% less than the cost for an ACOE/CBP steel wall/fence.
Other infrastructure such as cell towers and traffic cameras come along with the highway thus giving CBP access to capability as needed. CBP selects, places & operates sensors!
Faster creation of priority infrastructure vs ACOE/CBP run infrastructure projects and reduces overall risk of accomplishment.
Allows CBP to focus on core mission as the guardians of the border-preventing terrorists from entering the country, reducing human & drug trafficking and apprehending illegals.
Potential economic improvement for rural areas along the border.
Politically neutral as it builds multi-purpose infrastructure and improves security simultaneously. More effective & efficient results for the taxpayer dollars.

What is even more interesting is that you cannot web search and find this anywhere!

What if??? — 10 Comments

  1. Well, in the Texas RGV, Expressway 83 (Interstate 2) is often only a few miles from the Rio Grande River up to Laredo Texas. High foot traffic area.

Maybe the endangered alligators in the Rio Grande would work. Let Nature Heal Itself. :^)

  2. I think the Great American Canal would be even cooler, if perhaps a little (hah!) costlier and difficult to build.

  3. You first need a Republican president to stop an influx of Dem voters.

  4. An interesting proposal, worthy of some consideration. This all assumes, of course, that reasonably honest politicians could first of all be found, and then convinced to cooperate.

  5. Border security isn’t difficult nor particularly complicated. All it takes is the political WILL to implement it. That is where the problem is. The people in control don’t want border security. They want a wide open border with no controls because the resulting invasion serves their political agenda.
This isn’t complicated. Evil but not complicated.

  6. A much easier solution would be to simply shoot anything standing on our side of the border or swimming/floating beyond the half way point in the Rio Grande.
At less than 2000 miles, the border could be patrolled easily with existing border control personnel, taking into account they would not have to process as many illegal immigrants.
We would also likely see a sharp reduction in illegal crossings.

  7. This is an ERJ solution, but send teams into MX to locate and destroy every bus that brings people to the boarder. Evacuate everyone including the driver then burn the sucker to the ground. Only shoot people who resist or protect the buses.

Do that a few dozen times and suddenly the NGOs who fund the travel won’t be able to find anyone to move their pawns to our border.

  8. Good call.

Then agin, maybe Texas needs to go UDI and simply roll south and take out Cartel Country. Then we become SUPER STATE.
