Little bits of history…

Come from the strangest locations…

Ben Yalow came up for supper with our crowd and brought another ‘interesting’ book…

That he helped the author put together back in the day…

Ben said that he and Frank were both fans of science fiction back in the day, and Frank had done a LOT of research, interviews, and even chased down log books to document the various services air-to-air battles in WWII. This is one of seven books Mr. Olynyk did

As an example, this is the consolidated entry for Capt Joe Foss, USMC, flying from Guadalcanal in 32 days in 1942.

Other sections (and there are quite a few), break the air combat down different ways, by squadron, by date, time, and location, etc.

According to Ben, Mr. Olynyk’s data was accepted as being the most accurate data available!

He also published a hard cover shown below on the Aces from 1920-1973. Click the cover for the Amazon link!

Sadly, Ben had to take it with him, but many thanks for letting me peruse it and he got a good laugh at me flipping back and forth, oohing and aahing over  the various data and the multiple ways it was presented.
