Hmmm…

I usually stay away from politics on this blog for reasons, but this one…

Shades of Swift boaters against Kerry…

Vice President Kamala Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate on Tuesday, and will likely emphasize his military service as part of their campaign.

But when Walz was running for governor in 2018, former members of the National Guard spoke out about his service, with a retired command sergeant major saying he “embellished and selectively omitted facts of his military career for years.”

In an open letter posted to Facebook that year, retired Command Sergeants Major Thomas Behrends and Paul Herr wrote that Walz retired just a few months after receiving a warning order that his battalion would be deployed to Iraq – even though he told military personnel he would be going on the mission.

Full article, HERE from the Daily Wire, and link to the open letter, HERE.

At the time, I was working with two of the former Swift boat crewmen, both had been in the same squadron as Kerry and knew first hand. One of them was a retired officer and boat commander ‘with’ Kerry.

Yes, there were those who said Kerry was pure as driven snow… yeah, right.

I see much the same thing here, and this accusation is NOT new, going back to 2018, but it does raise questions in my mind as to what Walz was thinking/doing. He’d made a commitment to get the E-9 slot, then ‘retired’ when he found out they were going downrange. OBTW, he never actually DID what he’d obligated to do to get the E-9 slot either.

Based on what he did and didn’t do as governor, e.g. the BLM riots and the whole Wuflu lockdowns, he obviously ‘likes’ being in power.

If he was willing to walk away from his troops, what do you think he will do to John Q. Public if a hard choice has to be made???

Your thoughts???

  1. There are a lot of weasels in the military from the Pentagon, the officer ranks, and the enlisted ranks. We are fortunate that they are a small minority of those in the ranks. That weasel picked by Harris for her VP would turn his back on his country in a split second for his own benefit.

  2. I watched CNN attempt to blow up this man’s resume last night. The mayor for one of the twin cities of the Floyd riot commented that Walz couldn’t just deploy the troops – it required time to get the resources organized.

I don’t recall how long that trial was, but there was plenty of evidence that rioting was likely when the verdict was in. The resources like having pre-deployed officers in place could have been done. Governor Abbott in Texas had officers at the University of Austin before the protesters of Isreal gained a real foot hold on the campus. It wasn’t rocket science if you are paying attention.

  3. Hey Old NFO;

Truth be told, she could have choose a lot better to give her candidacy a “middle of the road” feel, but she picked choice that made the far left of her party real happy. THey are going to try to stack Walz against Vance military service and Walz will come woefully short. Walz was a chickenshit who when the time came, choose to run rather than deploy. he is spineless and self serving, does whatever is necessary to stay in power. His actions in Minnesota catered to the far left demographic at MSP and to hell with the rest of the state.

  4. I encountered a few Walzes many years ago in a country far away. On the whole, from his point of view at least, it’s probably just as well he retired when he did…

  5. I’ve live in MN for some time now. Walz is unimpressive. or rather, Walz is impressive in almost the worst of ways. I suspect he will manage to not get to the level of some Illinois governors and wind up in jail, but that ain’t sayin’ much.

  6. I hate so say it but I know a couple of USNR officers who ducked every deployment when called on. They said it would hurt their business careers. I lost respect for both of them.

The otherside was our little O-3 mother of three that was deployed three different times. She’s an O-6 now and deservedly so.

  7. According to CSM (ret.) Tom Behrends, who served with Walz and took his place when Walz resigned, Walz was a provisional CSM who got out when he learned he was due to be deployed to Iraq in May 2005. The MN Guard says he never retired as an E-9, did not complete required class or course work, and is a retired Master Sergeant/E-8.
Thankful that he retired and left the guard, Walz needs to man up and correct this erroneous claim.

  8. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan: “Tear down this Walz!”

  9. He sounds like a case of stolen valor.

Also, it appears like the Democrats chose to do a Swift Boat & Kerry repeat with him to have a leftist “military” candidate. You won’t be allowed to question his service, on pain of having the Democrat internet machine turned against you to unperson you.

  10. Update to Master Sergeant (Ret) Walz: So back in 1995 he was arrested for doing 95 in a 60 and DUI? Got out of it because he was then deaf (I don’t see how being deaf precludes one for looking at the speedometer? That was then fixed by surgery? All while in the National Guard? WTFO

  11. Likely he ducked going downrange because he knew his own troops would frag him? Setting aside the E8-E9 comments, what does the SP 4 mafia say about him?

  12. Just another Commie, narcissistic, sociopathic, Satanic, pedophile. Not to put too fine a point on him…

  13. All- Thanks for the commenets, and yes, he’s NOT the only weasel in the service. We’ve all seen them… Yep, she’s nuttier than a fruitcake!

  14. His lying and troubled history with the military is… of concern.

What is more troubling is his 25+ years of openly working with the ChiComs.

And also his inability to keep ‘state secrets,’ deployment orders for the Min. Nat Guard, from his very leftist daughter who ‘leaked’ (with daddy’s permission) said info to the BLM/ANTIFA/leftist POSessess who were rioting. Along with the rules of engagement.

But, well, we all know facts don’t matter regarding DNC candidates. Like Fauxohantis and Sanders and Kerry and the Clintons and Biden and Harris and the Obamas and LBJ and JFK and FDR and WW and… Gee, I’m seeing a theme here…

    • Grover Cleveland was the last decent Democrat president.

      • Truman was pretty good. He was handed a full toilet by FDR and did a decent job cleaning it up.

        • He was, after all, selected as VP because he was politically clean and pretty much seen as a statue, something to be put in the corner and ignored. Then FDR finally achieved the status of good socialist and the powers-that-be found out they had a very opinionated and strong man they couldn’t control on their hands.

They tried to screw him over for re-election and failed.

Then the powers-that-be lost to Ike.

They found a meat-puppet they could mostly control with JFK and then it was back to normal for the DNC.

          Truman really was an outlier.

  15. What do I think he would do? Attempt to disarm citizens with the hope they could load dissenters into boxcars bound for the gulags. It’s the wish of the Democratic Party, and a less polite society would throw most of them into prison for their treason.

  16. Typical politician, all hat, no cattle and addicted to power.

  17. I still think the Harris/Waltz ticket won’t make it past the Chicago convention. (2, 4, 6, 8! Recreate ’68!) Michelle O. and ??? will be the “official” ticket

  18. Stretch I see the Harris/Walz ticket as being pretty bad. I think that they will drop in support over time, but they will keep polls close so they can steal the election easy. If they try to insert another set for Harris/Walz at the DNC Convention it will make people see even more that the Dem Elites are running things.
