Columbia University President Minouche Shafik has resigned, according to an email distributed to members of the campus community. Her resignation is effective as of Wednesday.

Shafik came into the national spotlight at the start of pro-Palestinian protests across the nation, the epicenter of which appeared at Columbia.

“I write with sadness to tell you that I am stepping down as president of Columbia University effective August 14, 2024,” Shafik wrote. “I have had the honor and privilege to lead this incredible institution, and I believe that—working together—we have made progress in a number of important areas. However, it has also been a period of turmoil where it has been difficult to overcome divergent views across our community.”

Full article, HERE from the Washington Examiner.

She hung around a lot longer than most figured she would, but she’s finally ‘decided’ to leave.

I ‘wonder’ what went into that… She IS Egyptian, and I can’t help but wonder if she hates the Israeli people that much because of family issues from the 67 war…

For those that don’t remember, she failed to protect Jewish students at Columbia and negotiated with pro-Hamas terrorists who took over the campus. She also delayed getting NYPD involved in clearing the campus.

Her FIRST duty ‘should’ have been protecting the students on campus, regardless of their ethnicity!!!

  1. I’m sure if Kamala wins, she’ll have a job, probably Secretary of Education. Or maybe Ambassador to Israel?

    • Leftists usually fail up. The hive mind takes care of its own, until it eats them.

  2. I disagree. She’s a Leftist. Her first duty is to protect “her” people. She’s an Egyptian Muslim. Why should she care about American Jews? After all, to a Leftist, there is no such thing as American culture, and if there were, it is only to be reviled and destroyed.

This is the future the Left has been working ever so diligently to achieve.

  3. The race war nutjobbery is directly down stream of less obviously offensive ideas promoted as mainstream by several academic fields.

Fundamentally, for some decades and academic generations, a number of fields have been, flatly, making up stuff about war and about peace, that can be verified as wrong. If you think that peace and civilization are evil magic spells, then it is pretty reasonable to suppose that pointlessly warring against Jews in a savage way is okay. These people legitimately do not understand their choices as particularly wrong, because they have lived their adult lives in a very curated mental environment that has effectively made them insane.

In general, I would guess that if you can think of a university, a mainstream university, than it probably has a lot of management and faculty who ideally would be fired.

But, yeah, as best as I can tell, these people are surprised and disturbed that years of them telling people that peace is fake might possibly result in peace breakdowns in the country that they are in, or that they could be held to account for wrong doing.

    • Yes.

Under that ideology, EVERYTHING is to be viewed through the lens of inter-group conflict and desire for power.

Therefore, everything – including peace – is a weapon or conspiracy against your group or the group you favour.
Therefore, anything that you can do to attack those who are not in your group, is justified.

That ideology is shared by Socialists and Muslims (not that they are the only groups). It’s part of their core doctrine. In their minds there cannot be peaceful co-existence because by definition, if you are not with them, you are against them.

  4. Resigned as president or resigned from the Uni? Either way too little too late and a complete failure of oversight by the Board that oversees the school. She should have been fired the minute she refused to allow the PD to remove protestors and arrest anyone harassing another student.

    • I’m suspicious of most of this sort of board.

Generally, faculty will make a stink if you do not treat them with some deference towards their PhDs, their titles, and their fields.

So the general office politics is usually to so defer.

This is not a good mental habit where the situation is that you actually need to be decisive, and cut the school’s losses.

  5. All- Thanks for the comments, and yes, it’s nutjobbery to put it mildly! I’ve noticed that NONE of the protesters have volunteered to go over there and actually ‘help’ Hamas.
