Jaguar: Burn it with fire, then nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
Neither.
x2, agree – neither.
I’d be amenable to an older Jag, maybe after Ford bought them, if it weren’t for their maintenance reputation. Not any more after this debacle of an advertisement. “Roll hard left and die” (Sarah Hoyt?)
As for Volvo, Mom had a 145, I had a 245 and I happily traded it for a P1800S (think original “The Saint” but in red, not white). Would have considered a C30 T5 but nothing newer.
HOWEVER, Volvo is now owned by Geely Holding. IOW, CHINA! Hard pass.
I’m sticking with my Jurassic Truck Corp. T-Rex kit. Now 25 years and counting, near daily-driver.
Yeah well… electric Volvo? Tough choice. Up here in the “tundra” maybe not.
Based on the commercials, the Volvo. But any electric vehicle is still a stretch for me because I’m rural. I used to be a jaguar fan, but they just lost me. This one on the other hand was fabulous
Yep … those were the days! That wonderful Jag bad-boy vibe.
Love the ad! The good old days of Great Britain, for certain, when men were men, women were women, and their cars were feats of engineering.
“The good old days of Great Britain,” when the people of Britain were actually British.
The Volvo ad is obviously better in multiple ways.
I would assume that ‘jaguar’ was a new clothing line for people who have more cents than sense, especially since there is no car in the ad. It looks like a final project for an film/art student at a left coast school.
I recall the 1970’s Volvos… they were VERY safe. Nothing would care to be seen anywhere near one they were so ooooogly, so perfect collision avoidance.
Yeah, I wouldn’t buy either one myself, but I did have a 240T back in the day, bought on the military program. Comfortable, fast, and ugly as hell, but safe for the littles when they were little. Now…Hell, I’d LOVE to find an affordable 66 GTO! But you do have to admit the Jag ad is…pathetic!
Any 66 GTO I could afford would be a non-running pile of rust. One I’d want I can’t afford. To think I passed on a 67 Tri Power GTO in 1980 for $4k.
I’ll pass on both. My 3rd or 4th car was a 1973 Volvo 144. Tough enough that I survived when I flipped it (the accompanying DUI was a bit of an inconvenience).
An Old School Jeep CJ-5 with an AMC 360 (or 401), because Torque Rules!
All- Thanks, and damn, Rat nothing like overpowered…LOL
Still got Grandfather’s 1964 S-Type in the shed.
Dad always swore that you needed two elbows in each arm, or a well-trained ferret to work on it, but that 3.8L six had a wonderful snarl to it when he hit the go-pedal.
’66 Pontiac GTO, but then I’m a dinosaur.
Volvo: Boxy but safe.
Jaguar: Burn it with fire, then nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

When your ad becomes meme fodder …
