Boy, talk about ratholed…

This one went from ‘mainstream’ to archived in 3 days…

Some of the democracy-building experts President Donald Trump fired this year from the U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department are now reapplying the skills and knowledge they built up over decades to undermine Trump’s power.
For years, these officials were stationed across the globe actively supporting opposition movements in autocratic nations. Now they’ve got time, a network of former colleagues and a growing sense of moral indignation.
“Take it from those of us who worked in authoritarian countries: We’ve become one,” said a currently employed federal official, who spoke to NOTUS on condition of anonymity. “They were so quick to disband AID, the group that supposedly instigates color revolutions. But they’ve done a very foolish thing. You just released a bunch of well-trained individuals into your population. If you kept our offices going and had us play solitaire in the office, it might have been safer to keep your regime.”

I have no words… sigh… This smacks of mutiny at best, and I don’t know what the worst might be, but I really wonder who’s side these people are on?

It’s obvious they are NOT on the American people’s side!

  1. If not outright subversion, definitely sedition. The perpetrators should be treaded appropriately and given time to solitaire in their cells.

  2. and the Spanish Revolution echoes continue. Did we just pension off the Officer Class?

    • There are plenty of other words for this kind of talk. Treason has specific elements that are not present at the moment.

      All of these, however:

      18§2383. Rebellion or insurrection
Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

      18§2384. Seditious conspiracy
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

      18§2385. Advocating overthrow of Government
Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or

Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or

Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof-

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

If two or more persons conspire to commit any offense named in this section, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

As used in this section, the terms “organizes” and “organize”, with respect to any society, group, or assembly of persons, include the recruiting of new members, the forming of new units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes, and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons.

18§2387. Activities affecting armed forces generally
      (a) Whoever, with intent to interfere with, impair, or influence the loyalty, morale, or discipline of the military or naval forces of the United States:

      (1) advises, counsels, urges, or in any manner causes or attempts to cause insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty by any member of the military or naval forces of the United States; or

      (2) distributes or attempts to distribute any written or printed matter which advises, counsels, or urges insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty by any member of the military or naval forces of the United States-

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

      (b) For the purposes of this section, the term “military or naval forces of the United States” includes the Army of the United States, the Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Navy Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, and Coast Guard Reserve of the United States; and, when any merchant vessel is commissioned in the Navy or is in the service of the Army or the Navy, includes the master, officers, and crew of such vessel.

  3. If they are coming up with the sort of ‘troops’ that staged the ambush attack on the ICE facility on July 4, I’m not too worried. For some reason, the mug shots seem to have vanished but I found a YouTube video that shows them starting at about 36 seconds:
    https://youtu.be/e-nZMud7rGQ?si=6eXl8vxXIu0FQUcz
When I first heard about the ambush, I wondered that it seemed so ineffective: ONE wounded worker, only 20-30 rounds fired, and 11 perpetrators arrested/charged. Multiple weapons seized, but only one AK was used, and it jammed.
If they are going to rebel, they need a higher quality dirtbag than what they’ve used so far.

  4. I don’t see much change in this subterfuge, and the only solution appears to be going Neanderthal on enough to change the opinion of all. It will save the money usually thrown into the pit of the legal system.

  5. Trained careerists in revolutionary activities . Rent a riot inc. I don’t think even amongst themselves did USAID know who was doing what , where, or why . The money just flowed . They were into everything everywhere . USAID …sounds like the Peace Corps handing out UNICEF Gruel, but the Agency was much much more . Steering elections, steering govt’s , payouts to outlaws , corrupt officials, getting stuff done on the lowdown . Agents of those who shout “our Democracy” like they have an exclusive claim to it . Money ,money, money … (our money) . I keep picturing Samantha Power , snorting coke off a briefcase listening to “secret agent man” , cruising the friendly skies off on another construction project .

    • Or Victoria Nuland giving people weed gummy bears, then taking video of their reactions, for blackmail records. No, I don’t know if she ever did this, I have never met her, but would agree to meet her if specific circumstances become reality.

  6. They’ve been around authoritarians and dictators that they think anyone who disagrees with them, or who is popular, must be an authoritarian or dictator. After all, don’t dictators have cheering crowds and people who support them and wave flags? There you go. Losing their sinecures just made it clearer (to them).

It reminds me of historians who spent so long studying totalitarians that they now see them in every popular leader.

  7. …”said a currently employed federal official…” Yeah? Employed where? And what WSF said–they’ve lost their gravy train funding.

  8. “If you kept our offices going and had us play solitaire in the office, it might have been safer …”

No doubt it would be safer still to leave their security clearances in place!

  9. Hasn’t some court allowed the head of the Federal branch of the state to fire his employees? Took a while but seems to be happening. Huge tears on the steps of the DOS yesterday. Good. Since when were we all about the corrupt despotism of an unelected bureaucracy?
