What’s old…

Is new again…

SECDEF has announced there will be a medal for those who serve on the Mexican border…

Border medal, yes. New medal, no. We have proudly revived the 1918 “Mexican Border Service Medal” — same mold, same ribbon, same name, same service. We look forward to pinning the award on brave border soldiers soon…

X post HERE.

You know this is gonna upset a lot of folks…

Snerk…

  1. Here’s hoping it causes far left liberals to stroke out. Yeah that’s a little harsh but the older I get the less my tolerance becomes

  2. Sure , why not ? , I’m all for it , I was actually thinking about this very thing a while back . Not this medal but a medal for service down on the border , this one seems fitting . Goes back to 1918..cool!

  3. Brigadier General Pershing and Lieutenant Patton approve.

  4. My great uncle, Leonard White, was awarded that medal.

People on both sides of the border will be greatly offended, which warms my cold heart.

  5. My uncle rode with General Pershing chasing Pauncho Villa in Mexico. Does he get one of these medals? Posthumously, unfortunately. He was in the Colorado Militia that was rolled up into the 10th Cavalry.

  6. Regardless of media hype, it’s a war zone down by the border. Serving in any agency that works in that area deserves a medal.

  7. It’s probable that offending the perpetually offended is the main reason for doing this. Trump is the king of trolling. Many of his appointees are pretty good at it also.

    • One’s for service ON the border.
      One’s for service INSIDE Mexico.
Those cartel labs aren’t going to destroy themselves. 😉

  8. I’m not triggered buy it but…
Dwight D. Eisenhower who was the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe had four full rows and two partial rows on his fruit salad bar.

Gen. Mark Miley who gave up Afghanistan in the middle of the night, without telling our allies has four full rows and four 3/4 rows of ribbons.

Boots who go through A-school now-a-days probably have three before they even get to their first Seabee Battalion.
An E-4 on his first tour probably has more than I did as an E-5 when I got out in 1990 with 9 years in.

    • Mmmmmmm I don’t know, the mustard spot , National Defense medal , is given at boot camp now . A School , they might load up the duty van and go to the range arranged by somebody and get a marksmanship ribbon of some sort . Be somewhere during a change of command , the outgoing CO or OIC usually has NAMS he or she needs to give away before departing (I’ve seen that very often) . Deployment ribbon (self explanatory) , campaign ribbons , unit commendations , require being in a certain place at a certain time , . As far as Officers , they seem to pick up a lot , but the cool ones I know (fact check me plz) chose to wear only their top three which I believe is their option depending on occasion . Milley had a chest full and was packed in that uniform like a sausage , must have had ten years of bodyfat waivers , Vindmann too , had the purple heart, must’ve been his turn to make a shwarma run . Sorry that is not nice , but fat squeezed into a uniform is sloppy , never have I seen a fat marine at any rank or age , they keep their shit tight . Squids ? , I am one , Plenty of fat fuckers , many in khakis , shame but I’ll admit it . And females , Good God , there are some wide loads out there , they must be terminally pre/post/or actually pregnant on permanent shore duty . Ribbons tell a story , you can read a guy’s chest . I once showed up to a new command , shore , and a Lt on my check in sheet I had to go see saw my NAM and said , “GOT A NAM ?, MUST’VE KISSED SOMEBODY’S ASS ” , I deeply resented that and wanted to drag his fat ass across the desk , but he was 20 years in and pushing a desk at a SIMA , his career , and any aspirations he had were already over , I just smiled and got his signature and left . Dickheads abound in the Nav LOL !!

  9. I have a simple question for those who are bothered by this. If the US Military is not there for the purpose of defending our borders then what is it for?

Maybe I’m oversimplifying but if I was in charge the Military would be tasked with defending our borders and shipping routes and that’s it. (see picture of P-3 Orion above, A program I’m proud to have worked on as a Liaison Engineer) In other words I’d have them defend the country they actually took an oath to defend.

I’d also fully develop all of our own energy resources including the latest generation of nuclear and tell the Mid East to go choke on it’s own oil and figure out their own problems. Let it burn.

    Rant Ends
