A reckoning coming???

IMHO, long overdue…

August 13, 2025: The current American president ordered audits organizations many had long suspected of diverting the money to recipients that would support anti American groups, lavish salaries for pro-government officials as well as foreign nation officials who responded to large bribes to see things the American way or just to oblige the recipients to one day return or carry out tasks requested by the current president.

Over 250 NGOs received most of this money and distributed according to what the current American president wanted. The recent U.S. government audits of most of these activities continued into 2025 because the NGOs and their government handlers believed they were immune to fraud claims because their activities served the wishes of whatever Presidential administration was in power. They were wrong and audits named names, and suggested cutting the money off and prosecuting those responsible. Those investigations and prosecutions continue.

The current government wants to destroy these practices. This does not surprise a lot of Americans who already knew that something like this was suspected because there had been rumors and stories in the news detailing some of this malpractice. These accusations were always ignored or denied.

This was published a week ago, but I’m just now catching up on my reading…

As anybody who has served in the military and been overseas knows, NGOs are the bane of our national policy.

Why, you may ask, do I say that if the are ‘doing the will of the administration’?

Well, because it long ago became what the NGOs ‘wanted’ to do and there was little to no check placed on them to ensure they were actually spending the money where it was supposed to go.

Everybody remembers the kerfuffle a few years ago over the salaries at the Red Cross, which is an NGO, but it’s even worse today. Reference HERE. And some of us have personal stories of the ARC trying to take over emergency relief in various places, including trying to ban volunteers from operating (Cajun Navy), providing free food (bbq, HEB providing water, etc.) and collecting money for EVERY emergency that happens, and they say they spend almost 90% of funds on “program services.” So no one really knows how much actually gets to the flood victims, etc.

Another huge NGO is now the United Nations. They spread food and other ‘relief’ around the world, but a lot of it ends up stolen by boots on the ground, much like the US Aid relief packages of food, flour, etc. you can see for sale in most third world souks…

And that’s not counting the relief workers that are raped, killed, etc. every year.

The original premise was ‘doing good’, but that has morphed to what the NGO leaders, e.g. ‘we’ think is good. And many of them are westerners, who have zero understanding of what is ‘good’ in a particular country…

So yes, I agree, audit the hell out of them. Charge them and send the guilty to prison! And take that capability and put in under control with audits, transparency, and knowledgeable people who are not out to feather their own nests…

Kicking the soapbox back in the corner and going to go find my BP meds.

A reckoning coming??? — 16 Comments

  1. whyinHell are our tax dollars being spent on that stuff?

We need to get US out of the UN. Those “diplomats” can all move to Haiti or Venezuela or Cuba.

  2. We should stay in the UN so we can keep rule in the Security Council, but only spend a total of $1 per year. I believe all foreign money and NGO money should end. If we need a military base in a foreign country then the country should give us the base and rights like we get for an Embassy since we are providing service.

  3. The Red Cross uses every disaster to push for donations. People give thinking that they are donating to help the people affected by that particular disaster. In fact, the money goes into the general fund.

  4. I think this summarizes the Red Cross best. Also, regarding money used for charity, the real number can be 70% or lower.

    • They’re currently pushing the March of Dimes locally. Which, curiously, a very apropos name as they spend about 10 cents on every dollar actually doing what they’re supposed to do. The rest? Well, it’s good to be the executives of MoD.

  5. A help wanted ad for position of cleaning up corruption in America would have to include the skills: omniscient and omnipotent.

  6. I will take the other side of the argument. NGOs can be faster responding to events compared to federal, state and most local governmental agencies. They usually spend less to accomplish the same mission than a dot gov group and can go places dot gov will take weeks to address. I don’t like their politics but Doctors without Borders does get things done in some of the shitest place on earth.

Now the ugly truth is many NGOs like the Red Cross become just as large and expensive as their public sector relations. They believe in growth or die when it comes to budgets. The Red Cross did everything you mentioned here in KY after floods and tornadoes.

The United Nations is a government in itself recognized as such by the USA. It taxes nations for membership. Some pay little or nothing and the US pays typically more than 50% of the budget. I was working on a guidance document when Reagan was POTUS and he told them to pound sand concerning payment of due/fees/tax. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth that was fun to watch.

I am in 100% agreement that if you take the money, you need to prove where the money went and how it was spent. A businessman like The Donald would expect no less.

    • NGO’s take Federal grant money, rake off a percentage (sometimes as much as 50%) then spend the rest on the people they are supposed to serve….If they get there in a timely fashion, or if the people meet the standards of their philosophy…

The NGO idea is a good one, but most fail to do what they say and are, really, just a paycheck for those in the organization that are connected…..and if you look carefully, it is often the second or third child of some government official that is getting paid for a position that isn’t productive on the NGO board of directors…They are subsidizing their children with your tax dollars.

  7. Currently the Florida DOGE program, which the head wants to call the Fiscal Accountability for Florida Office (FAFO) is doing a forensic colonoscopy on the city of Gainesville, Fl.

Can’t wait to see exactly where our outright socialist leaders have squandered our tax dollars.

  8. “Doing good” is the excuse behind the vast majority of official crimes and misdemeanors. Anytime you have large sums of money with little if any accountability you WILL HAVE CRIME. On a scale almost unimaginable.

  9. If the “good” is slushing money to politicians, or bureaucrats, those involved need to spend the rest of their lives in prison.

  10. All- You DO raise some interesting points. Gerry, I can think of a VERY few that actually do that… VERY few…

  11. Gerry,
“They usually spend less to accomplish the same mission than a dot gov group ”
    Bullshit.
They are using tax dollars that have already been run through the government at a loss and then through the NGO.
Let’s also not forget that these NGO’s are mostly doing things not approved of by the government or the taxpayers.
It was always just a money laundering, make work, get people rich scam
