Welp, it appears the House Dems caved too… Ironically, it appears 8 of them voted for the Pubs house bill. So the President signed it last night in the Oval, putting the government back to work, at least until January.
And he placed the blame squarely on the Dems for the shutdown, and they accomplished basically nothing, as far as I can see. Other than cutting off pay for a bunch of folks, and SNAP benefits. The President estimated the cost of the shutdown at over $1 TRILLION dollars… sigh
No, flights won’t be back to ‘normal’ anytime soon. The FAA has to get controllers back in towers and enroute agencies, and then the airlines have to rejigger schedules to get planes and crews where they need to be. I will be surprised if this occurs before Thanksgiving. OBTW, it appears the airlines lost appx $100M a day during the shutdown.
And as usual, Michael Ramirez hits it out of the park with his latest editorial cartoon!
He’s definitely NOT wrong!!!
I do have a question though. Why is Bernie Sanders considered a ‘leader’ of the Dems if he is an Independent? That makes NO sense.

“Why is Bernie Sanders considered a ‘leader’ of the Dems if he is an Independent?”
Because lies and deceptions are as necessary to Democrats as food and air are to us.

Since I started with my online business, I earn $25 every 15 minutes. It sounds unbelievable but you won’t forgive yourself if you don’t check it out.

One benefit I can see, at least in my local area (Woodstock, GA, Cultural Center of the Universe), is that it prompted citizens to pay attention to our community-based food banks. The failure of Gubmint to provide for the needs of the poor made it apparent to many of us that WE could make some provision as individuals.
I’d much rather have these mostly church-based delivery systems feed people than have their needs met via some faceless machine. And I’d rather fund them, than pay taxes toward an anonymous program.
The toddlers have the car keys again. That’s a paddling.
I’ve known Bernie now since he was getting going in Burlington VT — quite some time ago. I disagree with him on almost any topic going. However, I will give him this, which makes him stand out from the rest of the Dems, big time. He is consistent. He is honest. He has the courage of his convictions. He is very intelligent and a good listener. I think he is wrong, politically, and he thinks I am — but at least I know what I am debating with and on.
All- Thanks, and yes Bernie is a closet Dem…
At what point does our insolvency come home to roost? No one seems to know.
I am a Republican as is my wife and sons. We have Dems and Republicans in our family on both sides. The issues with the Dems is they are closed minded and will not listen period to any other political view no matter how stupid their is. Republicans do not have that issue as we respect people. We have agreed in the family to not talk politics with others that our with the other party.
