Well, 72 hours have passed. My comments are my own. First, I was not there, I’m not an LEO, and I’m not a lawyer (Intarwebz or otherwise). I am a shooter and instructor.
First, regardless of ‘what’ the videos show, people are going to ‘believe’ what they want to, especially those who don’t like LEOs. And all the Intarwebz experts are jumping all over the bandwagon(s)…
First of all, the officers were performing a Terry Stop, which is legal as they are certified law enforcement, HERE from LII.
First is a video by an actual lawyer who has looked at the legal issues. Note what he says about the events leading to the shooting and the participants backgrounds.
Next is the cell phone video from the officer HERE from NBC.
It is sad that the woman died, but she did it to herself. Panic? No idea… Set up? Probably by her ‘wife’ for a video of some type…
Now let’s contrast the coverage of this with the shots fired in Portland, OR by ICE at a targeted traffic stop against another SUV. How much coverage? VERY little… And most of that was how many were arrested at the Federal facility downtown.
Why? IMHO, because it was two illegals, TdA type, one male and one female. They were shot but not killed after attempting to rundown the ICE officers.
But, to me the question is, WHO benefits from all this crap? WHO is paying these people to protest? WHERE is the money coming from? Peter at BRM, HERE has questions too.
Frey, Walz, the Oregon governor Kotec should all have kept their mouths shut until more information came to light. Now they just look even stupider than normal.
There will be more details coming, which will do nothing but further cloud the issue. Unlike the last administration, I believe this one will actually do a fair job of investigating and provide a report to the public. As to why MPD isn’t getting the data? I have the gut feeling that DHS does not believe MPD will honestly review the data, based on Frey’s comments and ‘threat’ to ICE.
What do I think? Yes, it was a good shoot. I do believe at that instant, the officer was in fear for his life. I do believe his first shot was from in front, and missed the woman, penetrating the headrest next to her head. Why the second and third shots? I think he was still processing threat parameters, and continued to react to that. The entire evolution takes less than 2 seconds from start to finish. If anyone has been shot at or been in combat, or been in a shoot house scenario, yes, time seems to slow down, but your ‘reactions’ still lag reality (or at least I know mine do).
Do you think ‘you’ could have gotten out of the way quicker? Or stopped after one round?
And who benefits from this???

Many lesbians have a big chip on their shoulder made from a railroad tie . Big chunk , big ol of wedge of wood . They (this duo) decided it would be a great idea to park dead ass in the middle of the road for , I have read , about 4 minutes in an attempt to to impede the passing of ICE vehicles . One of the duo decided it would be a great idea to get mouthy with an agent , the other behind the wheel decided not to exit the vehicle when ordered to do so . The driver for whatever reason , decided to reverse a bit then move forward hitting another agent (who had recently been drug down the street and injured by a vehicle in a similar situation) . This dynamic duo went looking for shit and they found it . One is dead , the other is now the recipient of a go fund me last counted at 1.5 million (don’t know if she got jailed , but I hear she was profoundly blaming herself for her wife’s death by admitting going to the location was her idea) . Just more crazy shit …., blame game ? toss the ball back and forth . I wasn’t there , protest sure fine , that is your right , scream till you are hoarse , don’t take your fucking car and block the road , don’t get mouthy with cops and refuse to get out of the car . That type of shit never has a good outcome , in this case it was a horrible outcome. January in Minnesota , wish it would have been minus 20 degrees and maybe these two might’ve stayed home . Couldawouldashoulda… That’s all I have to offer up . So stupid, so avoidable .
I have seen the videos. The woman that died what is not mentioned has been going around with her “wife” to various such activities in various locations. Obvious paid, planned. The Blocking of ICE on the street is against the Law, but is not mentioned by the Left or MSM.
What happened in MN will not rise up as it is too cold, but the Left is planning on the rise for summer as in George Floyd and mass riots and burnings. I doubt the present USA under Trump will put up with it like it did in the past, but I live in the South where we would not do such things as we can have complaints but not riots and burnings of our property.

An officer is responsible for their safety, but foremost they are responsible for the safety of others. A demented, angry woman in a 4000 pound automobile accelerating away has the possibility of not only killing herself in an accident, she can run over other officers, citizens, and cause property damage. All danger has to be assessed in a second, and woe be it to someone that decides to hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
If ICE was filled with thugs like the media is portraying, the angry lesbian would have been taken care of when she first started agitating earlier in the day.
You do not fight the police on the street, you will loose every time. If you think you have a reason to fight the police you do it in a court of law . If she had a job and had been working at something worthwhile she would still be alive. Everyone has a right to protest and make their voices heard , but blocking Law Enforcement Officers trying to do their jobs crosses the line .Just another useful idiot with a Darwin award to show for participating .

FLETC graduate here. We were trained to “fire until the threat has ended.” Back then we had 6-shot, .38 special revolvers.

I would guess that this is not the first time that female #2 has incited female #1 to behave without regard for the lives and well being of other humans, by video taping and cheering.
As for the choices by the shooter?
1. I have no evidence that I would be as restrained making shoot/no shoot choices in exactly those circumstances. I have managed to live a safe life, and have not empirically tested my use of force choices in a wide range of stressful circumstances.
2. If I were trying to make exactly those shots in those circumstances, I have reason to seriously doubt that my marksmanship would be as good.
3. I have no reason to think that anything I can quickly orient at close range is also something that I can use to get instant stop hits on a car, that are non-lethal. A wide enough damage channel through the engine may stop power to the power train, but will not nullify kinetic energy. A pistol I can obtain hits with will not so damage an engine block. A dead or collapsed driver might allow a car to stop itself. Or the lack of adjustment might allow bystanders to better avoid being hit.

Jeni- LEOs are taught to ‘stop the threat’, however much pepper spray, tasers, or rounds that takes. Proximity is also an issue. In this case, the first two were non-starters.
