A federal judge on Friday barred federal agents in Minneapolis from arresting peaceful protesters, or using nonlethal munitions and crowd control tools against them.
The 80-page ruling by U.S. District Judge Kate Menendez, a Biden appointee who sits in Minneapolis, lands amid an increasingly confrontational dynamic between the Trump administration and Minnesota officials who have accused Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents of stoking fear and violence on local streets. And it comes a week after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good.

Personally, I don’t think they thought this one all the way through. She figured she could slap an order out there and ‘protect’ the protesters, but IMHO, this will do nothing but ramp up LARPing by the protesters. They will get more aggressive, thinking they will now be ‘safe’ from the agents.
But what this does is to take away the agent’s non-lethal options, and if you don’t have non-lethal remedies, what’s next?
Unless the MPD steps up and starts protecting the agents, it has the potential to get REALLY ugly.
The agents will have to use their weapons to defend themselves, and they won’t be using rubber bullets…
And then what happens???

Yeah, kicking ICE vehicles, throwing frozen water bottles (The media covertly omits the “frozen” part) at agents, shooting fireworks at ICE agents, setting fires, attempting to run over agents with SUVs, peaceful indeed.
If judges are begging to be forcibly removed from the bench and severed from benefits, it would look a lot like this.
Run it up the flag-pole. Get the expected “The judge is doing her job” then jump over to Federal court with a list of judges who are abusing their offices.
There is a process for accountability. IT takes a while but that is one avenue that the trigger can be pulled on right now.
Kneecapping is less than lethal. Right?
They are seeking a “Boston Massacre”.
Embarrassed and bruised “Innocent Folks” (per Media) doesn’t brew up OUTRAGE that “Nice Folks” just protesting like dead people.
Look at how they portrayed Ms. Good. They show a “Glamor Shot” of a sweet looking NORMAL MOMMY. NOT the crazed rioter that tried to do vehicle homicide.
But what I find ODD is how aside from Minnesota the other normally hotspots like Seattle, Portland and California have ICE working there with MINOR Harassment.
Are they trying to do a “stop investigating our graft OR…” action.
This is showing that these Judges are working against the Trump Admin and the ICE Agents. These protesters are paid, some are doing wrong things against Federal Agents like attacking them with objects, cars, and fireworks. In most issues these protesters are breaking law but the local police are not helping the Feds since their politicians have deemed them “sanctuary to illegals” and that is against the law.
I find the problem is that Congress has not impeached these Federal Judges for their actions. Congress is not working with Trump to end these sanctuary areas and get these illegals out of the country. We should be working to remove all in Congress.
I think that Trump and ICE should announce that they will cease all operations in the deep blue cities that harbor the illegals. Then the illegals from all the other areas will quickly migrate to those deep blue cities. Those cities will be inundated with many more illegals fleeing to them for safety, quickly overpowering those liberal cesspools. The blue cities will be bankrupted & all the illegals will be in one place for Ice to collect & deport.

During the Biden years the FEDERAL government was flying illegals into red cities at night. Time to return the favor. Every damned illegal criminal caught by ICE should be flown into Minneapolis and released. Give them what they want, what they deserve, and what they’re fighting for.
She said they can’t attack peaceful protestors – I’m not seeing much of that in videos, so unless her definition of peaceful is unusual, this won’t change much.
Sort of to add to the concept of a couple of folks above. OK, you want the Feds out? Fine. Withdraw ALL federal activity from the area. Withdraw all Federal funds from the area. Close all Federal supported or regulated infrastructure (Interstates, US highways, Barge lines, Railroads, POWER lines, communication) at an appropriate boundary.

This “opinion” will be immediately petitioned for a stay and appealled, but the reality is that the Federal police have been too restrained in their actions to create the St George bloody shirt for the totalitarians to use to create the war they seem to want, at least from reading the osts of the Leftists I know, and the Leftist sites that I read to see how crazy they are getting.
They are trying to force Trump to either give up on enforcing Federal laws, or escalate enforcement actions to the point that they get their causus belli, and the popular civilian response they want to use to bring State power and direct force against us, their political opponents, just in time for the midterm elections.
To me, it was significant that Goods’ “partner” said “Why were they using real bullets?”, as indicative of the “protestors” understanding of the unreality of their own actions.
Lake Woebegone my ass, I used to listen to Garrison Keillor , he made Minnesota sound like a nice place . Shit is getting out of hand already due to protesters inserting themselves (obstruction) into law enforcement operations . Law enforcement agents have the right to self defense . This judge’s ruling if not held back on appeal will embolden the hell out of these protestors . Sigh….just sitting back watching this crap . I don’t know , we shall see what happens next I guess .
Perhaps ICE needs to invest in a few M-134 gatling guns…for defensive measures only, of course. It would be a real crowd please and would end the chaos right proper quick.
Whatever happened to the use of truck-mounted water cannons? Heck, go find a fire truck that’s lost its certification, up-armor it and go to town. Add a trailer for a continual resupply. Can’t back up any more, the only way to get out is forward.

The calculation may be that an escalation into open warfare can be done in a way that advantages them.
There is zero evidence that these are not mentally communists. Communists have their theories of revolutions, and think that they are uniquely equipped to profit from civil wars.
The chinese revolutions were, say, fifty to eighty years ago, in a fairly different and alien culture. They do not predict the potentials of a hypothetical US civil war.
Lots of themes of mainstream academia do not equip them for a first principles forecast of a hypothetical US civil war.
So neither Walx, nor the ‘judge’ nor the actual foot soldiers really understsnad their gambles. Nor the hypothetical of a Soros or PRC director.
The judge’s order is very definitely intended to push ICE to violence which might be broadly seen as unjust. The fundamental problem with that gamble is the unknown of what ‘everyone’ really thinks of communists.
The law dictates an emergency appeal is motioned to a higher court. During the time it takes to possibly have an injunction, somebody will be hurt, and regardless of who it should be, it won’t be the judge.
All- Good points, and yes, water cannon ARE effective, especially in cold weather. And no, the judge will NEVER feel any personal impact of their judgements.
The judges ruling says ICE can’t do things to “peaceful” protestors. Doesn’t stop them from doing the needful with the NON peaceful protestors…which is about 95% of them.
