Tragedy strikes close to home…

The wife of a Georgia high school teacher who died after what authorities described as a late-night senior prank gone wrong has asked for all charges to be dropped against the students involved.

Five North Hall High students were arrested after going to math teacher Jason Hughes’ Gainesville home armed with toilet paper to carry out a long-standing prank tradition. Hughes, 40, was the intended target Thursday night.

As the group tried to leave in two separate vehicles, Hughes was walking toward the street when he tripped and fell into the slippery roadway, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said. He was then run over by a car driven by 18-year-old Jayden Ryan Wallace.

I”m surprised this has blown up like it has…

This is my cousin’s daughter. They were both teachers, and very involved not only in the school, but Jason was also the golf coach for the school. They were raised in christian families, and were also deeply involved in the local church.

Obviously this has deeply affected our family, but the outpouring of care from not only the family, but the church and community have made a world of difference.

Would I have the same forgiveness Laura has? I honestly don’t know.

If you have a moment, a prayer for Laura and the boys would be appreciated.

Thank you.

  1. I would like to think I would have the same amount of forgiveness, this was a prank with a tragic ending and thus the wife devastated as stated both were teachers/liked the kids.

She is willing to forgive and move on then feel the state should drop the charges if for no other reason to go along with her wishes.

Best of luck to her and family moving forward and hope the kids can find a way to forgive themselves, this act was obviously not something designed to have a tragic outcome.

  2. In a world without consequence there is nothing. And I’m not talking about the conscience of these “children”.

Fine, spare them jail if you wish, but make their parents and them financially liable for the loss of this man, for the rest of their lives.

  3. I’m sorry to hear this has hit so close to home for you. I pray your cousin’s daughter and her children are surrounded by love and support now and years to come.

  4. Our condolences to the family and friends of Jason Hughes. It appears his spouse instantly knew that this was a horrible accident and not done on purpose. I don’t think her opinion alone should sway the DA’s decision, but it should be considered. Our justice system is not supposed to be vengeful. And nothing will change the fact that Jason Hughes is gone.

  5. I believe that it speak very well of your cousin, that she has this level of forgiveness in her.
May our Father in heaven hold her and her family, and provide for them.
May the young men be grateful to her God that He inspired this in her and react accordingly.

  6. As usual, this Board perfectly expresses the character that the Human Conditions in America at its worst, and far beyond what it was even in the Obama years. A may I add that it has become this bad due to the addition of the Disgusting addition of Dave Duyba, and the trail of Idiots that he brings along with him to this one time excellent Blog.
And may I add that not one a single word about when Barrack Hussein Obama was encouraging these illegals and Unaccompanied Minors to come. He even flew thousands of them in. Not a single word from Bubba Clinton whose scumbaggery foundation, and his sexual escapades or his Criminal Wife compromising our National security. Or their supposedly helping that criminal Bill, and Hill Clinton’s rebuilding Haiti and nothing was ever done. No not one world from Hillary who always opens up her big mouth to everything, so NO Hillary you have no business lecturing anyone about programs that your husband signed into Law when you both were screwing the American public, or your shameful disgusting way that you have been speaking about our NOW Wonderful President Trump! ….So Sit down and STFU!

  7. That is such a tragic story. I said a prayer for all involved and thanked the Lord for a mighty example of forgiveness.
