Welp, the State of NY has f**ked another person…
Our friend Kelly Grayson is in the process of getting both knees replaced, the first one was done 14 Jan and he’s working on getting the second one scheduled.
But… NY has ‘disallowed’ his short term disability, supposedly because he was diagnosed with ‘arthritis’ in his knees. This is @#%#)! ridiculous.
Kelly has spent over 30 years as an EMT/Paramedic working transport, 911, and the myriad of calls that an ambulance crew gets. He’s delivered babies, kept people alive to get them to care, etc. And wore out his knees in the process…
According to him, once the right knee was replaced, his right leg is now almost 3 inches longer than his left! I know when I saw him late last year, he could barely walk, more like a bowlegged wobble than actually walking upright.
Lawdog set a modest goal for a fundraiser to help Kelly, and it got around half of the total. We were hoping that money would help ‘offset’ the short term disability. Well, that ain’t happening…
And if you know Kelly, he’s too proud to ask, preferring to suffer in peace. So once again, we are asking for folks to give what they can, even $5, a cup of Starf**ks folks. Every bit helps to pay the bills.

Thank you for whatever you can do to help him!

Done. I remember reading his blog for a long time. Learned a lot and enjoyed it; felt I knew him with his writing style.
Done. I crewed an ambulance in Maryland back in the ’70s and Military EMS until 2012. Boy, do I remember some of the whales I had to carry down three flights of stairs!
Hang in there, Brother!
Did the thing.
Not that long ago Lincoln screwed me over on the Disability I paid for, just like Kelly. Hard times they were..

The “health insurance industry” has hijacked the system and no longer serves the needs it was created for. They did it by buying politicians and are now accountable to no one. There’s a good reason the CEO of United Healthcare was killed. And odds are good he’s just the first. Eventually someone will kack another parasitic executive…and be celebrated for doing so.
Saw Cedar’s post too… Done
Done. I’ll look for more change in the seat cushions.
Done. Thank You for letting me know about it.

Thank you all! I know it will be appreciated.
Done. Three inches? Damn, that is a lot of leg worn down.My left went from 3/4″ shorter than the right to 3/8″ longer, then the right one caught to up to even.
The more time between doing the knees, the better. Within reason. I am still in outpatient rehab for my right (2d) knee. The Left was done just under a year ago, and the right about 3 months ago, just after I got out of rehab for the Left knee. Both still hurt, but are getting better, and I am getting stronger.
John- Yeah, his are UGLY! Glad you’re getting better!!!
