Two down…

How many more to go? And I have to ask, are their egos really that big that they think they are untouchable???

Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, abruptly announced his decision to resign from Congress Monday evening amid calls for him to step aside after admitting to sexual misconduct with a staffer earlier this year.

The embattled lawmaker was facing an anticipated expulsion vote that could have occurred as early as this week.

His announcement came just an hour after Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., said he planned to resign from the lower chamber amid serious allegations of sexual misconduct and rape.

Full article, HERE from Fox News.

With Swalwell and Gonzales resigning from Congress, is it time for Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) and Cory Mills (R-FL) to follow suit?

The House Ethics committee have already done an investigation on Cherfilus-McCormick supposedly guilty of 25 infractions of House rules. Mills also has some sexual issues apparently…

Congressional approval remains at roughly 15-16%, so maybe it’s time they actually DID some house cleaning. They definitely need it, IMHO!

The other thing Swalwell has done is drop out of the California gubernatorial race, which will help the Dems out there, as right now, the two leaders in the ‘jungle primary’ are both Republicans. Since only the top two go to the November election, there is a very real possibility that NO Dem would be on the ballot for governor…snerk…

Talk about hoist on their own petard!!!

  1. Senate-cleaning is just as important as House-cleaning. ;-p

  2. Yes, yes they DO think they are untouchable, AND FOR GOOD REASON!
None of them suffer any form of punishment. Ever.
This is as close as We The People get. Some scumbag is forced to ‘resign’ or cease running for re-election (e.g. find a new grift to call a paycheck). They don’t ACTUALLY go to sit and rot in a jail-cell for crimes you and me would be put to death for. They never get sued in civil court, and if they do, the slush-fund pays for it, and we never get to see the results!
WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE!!!!! Jesus, I get so disgusted and sickened by the spinless shitbags called citizens of this country. Fucking disgusting.

  3. “Talk about hoist on their own petard!!!”

You don’t think that the sudden kerfuffle about Swalwell’s well known issues was designed precisely to ensure that a Democrat ended up on the California ballot? That 15% that Swalwell was pulling (sitting in third behind the two Republican candidates) will go to other Democrats, potentially pushing one of them into second. Once there is a D on the ballot, that person will win.

  4. Hey Old NFO;

You do know that Ethics is something that is to be used on republicans and democrats are excused, the fact that some of the donks are actually scooped up is a shocker. unless they are centrist and have to be purged to get a lefty in there…..or am I very cynical…

  5. There is a limited amount of time to legally remove Democrats from the CA Governor primary ballot. The first primary is 6/2.

What may happen is a run off, and possibly it will be safe enough for the Democrats as long as they don’t have Salwell as their only bet going into the run off.

These congressmen were not newly having these patterns of behavior. It is convenient to remove them now, not a true surprise to everyone.

Anyway, the oppo drop on Salwell may have been clumsy, and excessive, or maybe he put more energy into recent ‘private’ activities than has been disclosed. Because one of his wealthy backers has declared himself a Libertarian instead of a Democrat now.

A loss of California might be big, but that is one of many questions that has too much uncertainty to be predicting now.

I welcome the removal of these and other bad actors from congress. Many happy returns of the day!

  6. All- You DO raise some good points, and Bob, that is an excellent point! We shall see…

  7. The seats of power attract the worst types. They recognize each other, and yes, they DO protect each other.

It’s a big club, and we’re not in it. (And at times like these, I realize that’s a blessing.)

  8. The problem is Gonzalez and Swallwell are merely minions. Placeholders for the communist left. The DNC has countless more just like them to plug in as replacements for the ones they sacrifice on the political altar of power. Getting rid of a demonrat office holder accomplishes nothing. They are quickly replaced by another compliant willing servant of satan. We need to kill the beast…no tchop of small peripheral pieces one at a time.

  9. Swalwell may not have dodged prosecution. His protection has been withdrawn – and he’s low on funds.

  10. Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., said Tuesday that his close friendship with Rep. Eric Swalwell obscured his judgment about rumors that the California Democrat had engaged in potentially inappropriate behavior with women over the years.
My friendship with him, our family’s friendship together with him, clouded my judgment, and I was wrong — I deeply, deeply regret that,” Gallego told reporters at a news conference on Capitol Hill.

Gallego said he called the news conference to reject any suggestions that he was aware of Swalwell’s alleged sexual misconduct toward women. The Democratic senator, who served in the House with Swalwell for a decade, said he had “no knowledge of predatory behavior, sexual assault, or harassment” that have been alleged against the married father of three.

The senator acknowledged that he had heard for “many years” that Swalwell was “just a flirty, social guy,” but only recently asked him about the misconduct allegations after they surfaced.

“My family and his family were as close as it gets,” Gallego told reporters in explaining why he trusted the House member. “Our kids were in baseball camp together. We had dinner together as a family.”

But Gallego said that when rumors about sexual misconduct were circulating several weeks ago — before the San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday about a former Swalwell staffer accusing him of two sexual assaults — “I did ask him, and he lied to me,” Gallego said.
But the TRUTH is that Many of the Democrats Knew for Years that Swalwell was doing what he has been accused of doing, but found it easy to Covered It Up!
And besides that they also found him to be a Good Ally for them against Donald Trump.

  11. Ag- Yep!

    Dan- Oh so true!!!

LL- That will be interesting to watch, as he will take others down with him!

Ray- Gallego has his own problems, supposedly those are just now ‘surfacing’…
