Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa., said during an interview on Sunday that Black Americans would stop voting if they aren’t given reparations.
Lee slammed President Donald Trump’s “anti-weaponization fund,” and argued, “They are playing psychological warfare with us.”
“And that’s what they do,” she continued. “Because, again, they’re trying to disenfranchise you. Because if you believe that you’re never going to get reparations from this system, then you tap out, and you don’t just tap out of the conversation, you tap out of the system. You don’t want to vote anymore. You don’t participate anymore.”
“And they know that that’s how they don’t control Congress,” Lee added. “That’s how you can get your school boards, your board of supervisors. They want us that far out of this system. So right now, we fight for reparations because it’s owed us. It is owed us, so we’re not going to back down on that one way or another.”

This is getting tiresome, as once again the hue and cry is being made with no actual ‘plan’ being proposed. So it sounds like she wants blacks to just ‘stop voting’. Yeah, that’s gonna end well. I’m betting her Dem handlers are going to be having an few back room chats with her about ‘that’…
And just out of curiosity, what about the early colonials that relied heavily relied on unfree white labor. Tens of thousands of poor English, Scottish, and Irish citizens were sent to the colonies as indentured servants. While ‘legally’ distinct from chattel slavery, many worked under brutal, deadly conditions for a fixed period before being granted freedom, if they survived. Do they deserve reparations?
And who decides who is an actual descendant of a slave vs. the ones that came willingly?
And how much is owed to whom? That’s always an interesting question, along with who really owes it. Of course, what I keep seeing is that the ‘government’ owes it usually something in the 7 figure range.
Where does that money come from? Taxes? The ‘general’ fund? All I see is a bunch of questions with no good answer.
And for us older folks, it’s now official Social Security runs out of money in 2032, so we’ll be taking at least a 25% hit in our monthly checks, if not more. This is because the congresscritters have used the SS monies to prop up the general fund and other things replacing the money with IOUs. Welp, now that’s coming due…
And we have a huge national debt, most of the state pension plans are broke, and billions short of what they need, and entire states are damned near broke, and expecting the federal government to bail them out.
Sigh…
As near as I can tell, all my ancestors migrated to this country after the late difficulties between the North and the South, As such, they never owned slaves, therefore, I should owe zero reparations. Also, why should the U.S. Government (i.e. taxpayers) owe reparations to families of former slaves, when the U.S. Government ended slaver at a great cost in blood and treasure. Taking reparations form the CSA would make a certain amount of sense, except that the CSA was ruined economically at the end of the Civil War and there is no successor entity to extract economic “justice” from. Then there is the irony that if reparations are extracted from the Federal Government, the taxpaying descendants of former slaves will help pay for the privilege of assuaging “White Guilt.”
Finally, “… Black Americans would stop voting if they aren’t given reparations.” Deal accepted.
Don’t worry. They can have their hissy about voting all they want.
The Party will use their names to “vote” at least once per election. Dead people have been voting and collecting government benefits for years; you can register a dead stuffed yellow dog to vote in California these days and it’ll “vote” the Party line.
When while people in this country owned slaves, my ancestors didnt own shoes so deal me out. The direct threat of black people refusing to vote is an uncoded message to the leadership of the democrat party. If black people stop voting the democrats will never or rarely win another election. “Pay us what we didn’t earn or we quit” has been a mantra for a long time in certain communities.
Seems to me that the ones who owe reparations if anyone, are the ones who initially sold the slaves (of whatever colour — they didn’t discriminate) to the traders.
All of whom were black Africans. And a very profitable trade it was for them, too.
The point about indentured servants is well made, too.
Or how about native Americans, who happily captured people of other tribes and sold them on.
Or…
Bottom line. Every man, woman or child, of whatever origin colour, creed, hair style, whatever, stands or falls on their own. Any other approach is just plain evil.

If guilt can be heritable, than chattel slavery is inherently defensible even if it is then still theoretically possible for some examples to be wrong.
The communists and their critical race theory degrees have nothing to contribute to peace or to the general well-being in America.
Ship them all back to Africa, let them start their own Wakanda w/ all the doctors and lawyers and engineers and rocket scientists we will be missing when they are gone.
Every last one of them though, no exceptions. You get to keep the whole continent to yourself, even. Just go.

A lot of university degrees are basically pollution.
Status ‘markers’ with none of the reality that previously purchased the status.
How one triages that disappointing reality when one has a degree basically predicts whether one is a communist or not.
The communists are insane by American cultural standards, and are dysfunctional and anti-peace. Savages and barbarians.
The words to them are noise, it is like painting themselves blue for a ritual involving the spirit of some large rock.
Some of mom’s mom’s people were indentured servants. They not only survived, but managed not to get into debt during that indenture, so it was not extended “to cover the debt.” Today we call that “debt peonage” and it is considered a form of slavery.
Archives and a few older textbooks still have copies and reproductions of the posters offering a reward for run-away indentured servants, just like they later had for run-away slaves. “Theft of self” was the same in the eyes of the law as taking someone else’s property.
As an Irish descendant in the USA I say cacamas.(BS) We suffered genocide, then indentured servitude. We came to the US and spent our blood fighting for the Union to end slavery in the 1860’s. This is just a communist ploy to to keep up the breaking of the USA.

You are welcome to try; the door is thataway. I will note this was tried before; there is a country called Liberia in West Africa that was founded on that basis. Its GDP is ~4.5 Billion Dollars. The smallest US State GDP is that of Vermont at 48 billion Dollars more than 10X the output of Liberia, from a state whose most famous export is Maple Syrup.
It’s up to those with African ancestry to clean up the mess of claiming they’re due reparations. That, and the entitlement attitude that created generations of criminals that prey on honest citizens.
In the past (and not that long in the past) there was a strong Christian ethic demanded by black families. It created some of the best professionals, lawmakers, and judges.

F-Them . My family was Italian immigrants at the turn of the 1900s, I owe Black Americans nothing but to treat them decently. If they choose not to vote that is their problem, not mine!
The Civil War was the hardest on the country to free slaves. The changes made by the Republicans after the War gave equal rights in the Constitution.
The Democrats still used the KKK and later when President Wilson, a Dem, got into office started segregation of blacks from whites. This was ended with President Eisenhower a Republican, later the Civil Rights Act was passed with the support of most Republicans in Congress.
The changes in voting started when President Johnson, a Dem, who passed several laws that changed support for people. This support broke down the families and lead the Blacks voting for Democrats, who always have been against them.
The Black Leaders for the most part know what is happening with the Democrats but are playing it against whites for the money. If they do not want to vote no problem or if they want to move to Africa they have done it before and it did not work out well.
