‘Really’ surprised by this???
A few days ago, there was a shooter at an event called ‘Bite of Seattle’. The Mayor and the police took hours to get information out to the public and it was a complete disaster of misinformation. Now, we know the Chief of Police has offered his resignation.
Barnes was out of town at a conference when the shooting happened, and apparently they waited hours to have a press briefing until he got back.
Also, his wife and children are in Chicago and have never moved.

Among other things, when he got ‘probing’ questions, he literally wanted to fight the reporter (off camera of course), and the entire presser was cut short when the Mayor lost control of the narrative…
Other things that have come out is that he was routinely going back to Chicago for the ‘weekend’ to see his family, and was apparently gone for 7 weeks out of the last six months. Makes one wonder ‘who’ was paying for all those tickets home…
And Wilson apparently never activated the vaunted ‘Seattle Alert’ system, so folks were in the dark about what was going on for at least five hours. That’s a LONG time to be wondering if there are other shooters out there and where they were!
So, the next question is, how many more people are going to look at what is going on and unass Seattle with a quickness???
You get more of what you tolerate, Seattle. Lately, you’ve been tolerating a lot. Might want to see to that.
The Mayor also shut off all the cameras that had been installed to reduce crime during the world cup events. I’m no fan of cameras everywhere, but I also prefer living in high trust, low crime societies, where they are less necessary. If anywhere needs cameras these days it’s downtown Seattle. I don’t go into the city anymore unless I have to. Unfortunately I have to next Friday for a memorial service.
My dad worked for Boeing (not in Seattle) in the sixties. When Boeing lost the TFX AKA the “Flying Edsel,” AKA the F-111, the “Dyna-Soar” space ship and was finishing up the Minuteman assembly project. We had friends who worked in Seattle when the “Will the last person to leave Seattle please turn out the lights” billboards showed up. It appears time to revisit those billboards.
I expect areas that would be attractive to move to have no interest in getting those dumb enough to still be in Seattle. Just stay there and fix your problems.
Also waited for other “VIPs” to arrive and blamed firearms.
Seattle is in King County. I lived in King County for 18 years. Parts of King County might fit in nicely with Appalachia. The economy is roughly based on servicing Alaska, the Port of Seattle, PACCAR and Boeing. The politics strangle the place and by extension, the state.
Family obligations brought me back to Colorado in 1998. Did I escape just in time?
Ag- No question!
Hereso- Yes, that IS a bit ‘odd’… security and all that… or???
NRW- The ones we had in Florida in the early 80s were “Will the last American out of Miami please bring the flag!”
Steve- Those who can move, will!!!
Gerry- Point!
WSF- Yep, you ‘escaped’, but now you may need to do it again…sigh
