Well, I got an interesting gift Tuesday night.

And yes, I was surprised and embarrassed to have to get up in front of folks! It was presented by my Vietnam Veteran’s group for Quilts of Valor.

That is a very nice quilt Sir , the star patterns in the stitching and anchors in the trim are outstanding . That is a real treasure of a gift , and well earned . I am sure that will indeed be a comfort in the chill of winter . Congrats !

It’s a nice way of honoring the service. My firstborn son was gifted his quilt earlier this year, and one of the first things he did was to sponsor me to receive mine. Today, my grandson is in Jordan, earning his.

When I got to my first ship (CV 67, ship’s company), my grandmother and great-grandmother made me a quilt with my name, rank, and the ships name and designator embroidered on it. I loved it, and treasure it even more now that those ladies have gone to their rest.

Lovely quilt but just to make sure that credit is given where credit it due, the organization is called “Quilts of Valor”, not “Quilts of Honor”.
