A Flying Tribute…

This one is for all those who served and flew in the military…

We may be old, but we DO remember what it was like to climb into those birds and go do our jobs…

You might need a Kleenex too…

  1. Glad I have a fresh box of Kleenex. Got all dusty in here all of a sudden.

    It takes something special to do what y’all do.

  2. I saw one of my old “type” birds in there, third or fourth one in, It was an R4D-8 and God how I loved that bird!!!

  3. MC- Nope just sheer stupidity 🙂

    DB- Yeah

    DC- I have!

    Ev- Yep saw them and they brought back a memory or two!

    BP- This one is one of the best I’ve seen!

  4. While neither confirming nor denying that I’m as old as I am, it’s sad to think I knew the names of all those aircraft.

    In both old-style (pre-1962 Navy) and Air Force designations.

    And Old NFO, I took a ride in an original P2V7 from VP-94 LZ04 just before they picked up their P-3s.

  5. Pretty neat seeing Bob Hoover climb up on that Spitfire.
    Thanks for posting this, and thanks for the “Kleenex Notice”.

  6. Aren’t our military aircraft some of the prettiest? {Even WartHogs 😉 }

    There are 3 I’d like to ride in before I die – SR-71, an original Cobra helicopter, and a Pappy Boyington F4U Corsair ……………… of course, give me a chance, & I’d be on a CH-53 again in a heartbeat! 😉

    Thank you, Sir!
