Blow out kit…

Various folks have discussed medical/blow out kits for the range, and I decided to get a smaller kit that I could throw in my bag when I go out of town.  This one is from Officer Survival Solutions (OSS), and is called the Rapid Response Pack.

The nice thing is this kit fits handily in the cargo pocket of a set of 5.11s!

Here is a full list of the contents:

1- SWAT-T Tactical Wrap Tourniquet, 1- OSS Blood Absorbing 3inch Pressure Bandage, 2- 4×4 Hemostat Gauze Packs, 6- 4×4 12ply Sterile Gauze Pads, 2- 3in Sterile Gauze roll, 1- Rescue Shears 5.25in, 1- 1in Medical Tape, 1- 5X9 Trauma Dressing, 1- 3×9 Petroleum Gauze Pad, 2- pair OSS Tactical Black Nitrile Gloves, 1-4×6 Medical Pouch with elastic straps and multiple pockets for medical supplies, a bi-lateral easy open zipper for one handed deployment if needed and detachable subdued American flag.

Highly recommended…

And FTC, screw you, I paid for this myself. No compensation from the company, none expected…

Blow out kit… — 8 Comments

  1. You also need two HAL seals (dressings) for sucking chest wounds. Otherwise, I’d say that does it.

  2. The petroleum gauze pads make great seals for sucking check wounds of you use half of the sterile foil wrapper that they come in in conjunction with the pad itself, but like LL says, you need two. Things that ram through a chest wall often exit on the other side.

  3. Very nice find! Will be good addition to the sub-BOB, to compliment the BOB I keep in the Carrito

  4. I’m on it! Oh, I usually have cigarette pack cellophane to help with the sucking chest wound. Thanks!

  5. LL- See Murph’s comment, and in fact there are two of them

    Murph- There are two!

    Rev- Better prepared than not.

    Stephen- You’re welcome

    WN- Not a bad idea.

    Keads- Yep, that works too!

  6. Just don’t forget when using improvized chest seals, to leave one edge open on one of the seals, preferrably on the more flexible seal. That lets it function as a flutter valve to let air out.
