WTF???

The new Ebola ‘czar’ has NO medical background, he’s a former lobbyist, and was the chief of staff to Gore and Biden…

And this makes him qualified HOW???

Ron Klain is going to be a political sop… This will be a spin job from the get go…

I really need to go buy some upgraded biohazard equipment… Sigh…

  1. I would’ve thought a career in the military would’ve taught you that logic is a foreign language in DC.

  2. He was Biden’s assistant. How much more qualified than that can a man be to deal with life-threatening danger? Biden’s mere presence has kept Obama alive for six years…

  3. @pressSec on Klain appointment: “We’re looking at something on the order of 5 or 6 months”

Don’t worry. Klain can’t take the job until summer. That may alleviate your concerns. At least you know that the White House is there looking out for all of us (except for the people in Texas who vote Republican).

  4. Don’t forget to add that he was also the bagman for the Solendra scam.

  5. Since his job basically has nothing to do with reality, and everything to do with PR, who needs to waste the Ebola Czar position on someone who has any qualifications whatsoever?

  6. The GOP establishment politicians demanded that an Ebola czar be appointed.

    And so one was.

Lesson 1: Be careful what you wish for.

  7. They spent hours kicking around their nominees, came up with one they really liked, and had their bubble burst when an aide pointed out that Zippy the Pinhead was a cartoon character….so Klain was next in line. He beat out Alfred E. Neuman by one vote.

  8. Actually, I find a bit of hope in this. To draw a logical conclusion must mean none of the other czar’s are ‘experts’ either? Let’s get rid of ’em and save ourselves a lot of money. 😉

  9. When we hear the equivalent of “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job,” we will know that we are screwed.

  10. According to Wikipedia, the Ebola czar brings the total count of Federal czars to 38. GWB had 33, Clinton 8, GHWB 2, and Ronald Reagan 1. Any more proof needed that the Gubmint has become bloated?

  11. Look, from the White House’s perspective, he is fully qualified, in ways an actual epidemiologist would not be.

To teh White House, this is a *PR* problem, not a public health issue where the population needs to be protected. After all, even in the worst case scenario, Ebola won’t end up being a major epidemic here (for a vairety of reasons), so the priority is to make it look like all the cases are wholly due to Republican intransigence.

Never let a crisis go to waste.
