Our new surgeon general is at it already…
Vivek Murthy is continuing to push his anti-gun agenda, after barely squeaking through confirmation. This is one of the few losses the NRA has had recently…
The doctor said he still believes gun violence is a preventable health problem, comparing it to seatbelts and swimming pool safety.
Really??? I just cannot see how any rational human being can spout crap like this, much less have a so called ‘educated’ person do it…
Read the whole article and see the short video HERE.
Gah… It’s still Monday isn’t it?
“I do not intend to use the surgeon general’s office as a bully pulpit for gun control”, he said at the time.
Murthy, quoted here:

There have been 70 million firearms sold to the general public during the tenure of the Obama regime. And I will suggest that at the very least, firearms are less dangerous than cars. Thus logic would dictate that the Surgeon General should also advocate that we go afoot.
The appointment of Murthy is the reason why my older sister; one of the leading micro-biologist in the country, left the CDC for USAMRIID, which took with it a drop from GS-15 to GS-12.
Grog- Yep, lying at the beginning…
LL- Don’t give him any ideas!
SPE- Ouch, but yeah, I can see that…
Owning guns is only a health care issue if you are on the receiving end of one, and chances are, you deserve to be.
Our newest senator (an “R”, FWIW) – after campaigning as the anti-politician/small government/leave Alaska alone candidate – voted right alongside the other RINO to approve this moron.
If we secede, how ’bout we specify that all the congresscritters be left in DC? 🙂
CDC = Center for Disease Control. DISEASE!!! Guns are not a disease. In fact, one can argue they are a cure for certain sicknesses.
Yet another example of out-of-control government. Maybe the CDC should do something about that.
According to Sissy, the CDC is divided into roughly two camps; those who do “hard science” type “let’s cure AIDS” guys and girls and then a “soft science” camp who are all about social diseases; and not the fun type social diseases you get on leave.
Hey Old NFO;
It is my Rubicon…They can pass all the laws they want…I ain’t obeying anymore of them.
Dang spineless RINO’s, with democrats, you know what you are going to get so you ain’t surprised when the shoe falls.
I enjoy pointing out to my gun hating acquaintances that 71,000 deaths by any means in a nation of 310,000,000 wouldn’t make a pimple on a statistician’s ass. Murty may be sincere but there are some reals threats that he needs to focus on. Of course, that would involve real doctor work and not spin doctor work.
CP- Good point! 🙂
Rev- Personally, I think we should fence them in… sigh
Tim- Oh HELL yes! 🙂
SPE- Good point too!
Bob- Yep, another reason to get out of the metro areas…
WSF- Oh yeah, real medicine… Novel concept eh what???
+1 All
I’ve been involved in an ongoing discussion over the past week or so on a physician forum that somewhat parallels this topic. It started as a discussion about the Florida law banning physicians from asking their patients specifically if they have firearms in their homes and has morphed from there.
It’s gotten to the point that I’m pulling statistics to combat such liberal ideas as “guns kill more children than cancer” (true, but only if you count children as being up to the age of 26 and allow ALL firearms injuries, including intentional ones both self- and other-inflicted, not just unintentional) and that the number of firearms injuries in “children” is rising (again patently false if you look at actual children and accidental injuries).
I even tossed in the link to the comic drawn from LawDog’s cake argument of compromise when some of the liberals accused all gun owners of being “paranoid” and thinking that people are “out to get your guns”.
