Pink Pistols…

Couldn’t help but think of Ray Carter when I saw this article…

The Pink Pistols describe themselves as a group “dedicated to the legal, safe, and responsible use of firearms for self-defense of the sexual-minority community,” helping LGBT individuals who want to learn how to shoot.

One of the more ‘interesting’ comments to me, is this one…

“I’m seeing an improvement because I hang around with a lot of conservatives, I reach out, I turn the other cheek so to speak, but we can have dialogue. And when you start having dialogue, you start seeing people as people rather than us and them. Then that starts people taking a look at coming up with solutions, or addressing problems and coming up with solutions that are acceptable to both sides.”

Ray always said it wasn’t about what a person’s ‘persuasion’ was, it was about shooting and personal safety. He never felt ‘pressured’ by any of us to be anything other than what he was. The one incident I will always remember was at NRA Houston, when he confronted the protesters and went full ‘High Queen’ on them. I have never seen so much confusion in my lift… ROTF!

Ray worked for 2AF, and very successfully too! He’s gone too soon, but it’s nice to see something he helped start is still succeeding!

  1. If you want confrontation, then yelling and signs will get you to your goal. If you want progress for a solution, then a discussion where both parties have ears and mind open is required. No ‘one way to get it done’ – there are always options.

    I’m glad people are learning to shoot and take care of themselves. That is a function of society.

  2. Hey Old NFO;

    People having the same interest will overlook or work through other differences. That is how it works

  3. I miss Ray too . He will be remembered fondly as long as I live .

  4. “…you start seeing people as people rather than us and them.” Which is why TPTB have always wanted us at each others throats. This keeps them in power and us not paying attention to what kind of shenanigans they are pulling in the background to enrich themselves.

  5. I’ve been on the list for a while, and have taken several LGBT people out shooting, just to get them started. Even go to the closest rental range, and helped them sort what they liked, and what they could shoot well (not always the same thing).

    Who, or what, you’re boffing is none of my business. Getting new shooters onboard, however, IS!

  6. Erin Palette started Operation Blazing Sword, just after the Pulse nightclub shooting, with the mission of helping to teach any and all LGBTQ persons to shoot a handgun, at no expense to themselves, and with no judgement whatsoever. There is a nationwide list of people who are willing to do so. I don’t know just how many have been helped, but I do know that it is working, and that all people need do is go to the website and they can find someone that will help them, no judgement or questions. Like has been said, I don’t care who you sleep with or love, self defense is every ones right. At the very least, the firearms community should make sure that any one who wants to learn to shoot a gun learns safely.
