h/t to Stretch for this one…

We are nurses who have a vested interested in the health of the public. Each of us has many years of experience working in practice, and in teaching public health, mental health, and women’s health. Gun violence touches on all these areas.

We agree that there’s a need for gun violence research but we also think about the root cause. By definition, there would be no gun violence if there were no guns.

The TL:DR, amend the Constitution and do away with the 2nd Amendment…

Why is it that the left REFUSES to admit that criminals will not obey the laws? The only people that stuff like this hurts is the honest people who do their best to OBEY those same laws…

How about working to actually GET the existing laws enforced, like those dealing with those mental health issues, and public health issues you talk about???

  1. Progs are always wrong about EVERYTHING. It’s the only characteristic that unifies and defines who they are.

Instead of focusing on problem solving they do what they always do by scapegoating. In this case, it’s firearms. But it can be the weather or something else too.

  2. As London is finding out, getting rid of guns increases knife violence. You would think the problem is not the tool but the person.

  3. We agree that there’s a need for gun violence research but we also think about the root cause. By definition, there would be no gun violence if there were no guns.

    By Definition:
There would be no heart disease if there were no hearts. Ban hearts.

There would be no death by automobile accidents if there were no automobiles. Ban automobiles.

There would be no brain cancer if there were no brains. Ban brains.

There would be no lung disease if there were no lungs. Ban lungs. Why did we ban cigarettes?

So much for critical thinking skills.

I’ve been a RN since 1995. Do not associate me with this group of idiots.

    Houston

    • “ban automobiles…”

They’re working on that one. At least privately owned automobiles in the USA, especially ones that really protect the people inside them.

    • “Ban brains”.

I think they’re way ahead of you on that one.

    • There would be no brain cancer if there were no brains. Ban brains.

That’s already been tried. They end up running for office and invariably a bunch of them get elected.

  4. I have a better idea. Amend the Constitution to make legal doing away with those trying to do away with the Second Amendment.

  5. We could be rid of drunkenness and results ills if we amended the Constitution to forbid alcohol… wait, that was tried – and found wanting.

  6. I wish people who are functional retards and statistically illiterate wouldn’t wave their credentials around before shooting themselves in the feet, while both of them are in their mouth. It just makes them look doubly stupid, because they should have known better.

Or at least, if they’re bound and determined to do something that jackassical, I wish they’d film the trainwreck and put it on YouTube, like the guy that shot himself in the leg while explaining what an expert he was on firearms.

“If there were no people, there’d be no people murdered. So let’s kill everyone and solve the murder problem.”

That is the exact level of infantile magical-thinking horsecrap that suffices for intelligent discussion from those nitwits, which coincidentally explains why so many people die while under medical care: because 50% of these retards graduated at the bottom half of their classes, and couldn’t critically think their way out of a wet paper bag.

  7. Because they think everyone can be saved and they fear firearms because they don’t understand them and they are so far left on enabling people that they do not see the forest through the trees and ignorance and they believe in unicorns. etc etc etc It is mind boggling.

  8. And that boys and girls is how the current Civil War started.

  9. By definition, there would be no murders if there were no murderers. So why not ban murderers? Or at least make murder illegal? Oh, I forgot. Can you make something more illegal?

  10. She’s a nurse? That’s great. I’m not a nurse, but I am a head of a family and a homeowner.
Maybe we could make a deal: I won’t tell you which tools you can use to do your job, and you don’t tell me which tools I can use to do my job.

You want to advise us on medical techniques involved in treating gunshot wounds, or which areas to shoot to cause immediate incapacitation? Cool! That a case in which your expertise is relevant.

But your expertise is NOT relevant when it comes to matters of public policy, and NOTHING YET has been proposed that would be a viable alternative as a replacement for a well regulated militia, in the components necessary for the security of a free state. Until you do that, until you can PROVE to me that a plan, or technology, or ideology, will take the place of a well regulated militia, then THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

  11. Look on the bright side, guys: At least they are now coming right out and saying they want full prohibition.

  12. First of all why do you as nurses have a vested interest in the health of the public? Vested how exactly? As a nurse, you have a vested interest in the one person in front of you right damn now. Not the entire country, or world. Furthermore, if you are any kind of half way decent nurse, you learn pretty darn fast you can’t save everyone. You can try, but nurses (and doctors for that matter) are not God. He is the only one who can save everyone.

Second: What do breast cancer, uterine cancer and ob-gyn have to with guns? Exactly?? These are folks who have been sitting in a collage classroom for FOREVER and wouldn’t know what to do in an ER if it jumped up and hit them in the face.

Third: Guess what? There is already a law that prohibits people who have been deemed mentally ill, and told they were mentally ill to buy a gun. Big shocker: some of them will try to anyways. It would help to detour that if the Government, who make the laws/rules, would follow the laws/rules they made. The Air Force/Texas church shooter leaps right to mind.

You can make all the laws/rules you can think up, but they only work if everyone agrees and abides by them. Which has got to be the definition of “law-abiding society”. Cause lots of folks don’t now. On all sorts of things…driving without a license, or under the influence of your pain meds springs right to mind.

I was at Mom’s a week or so ago, she had been having some health issues, so I went to do a “home nursing visit”, and we were watching the news. There was some demonstration where the kids in the local schools were walking out to protest the Florida school shootings, and the news reporter listed off the students demands. Mom says “See that is what needs to be done!!” I said “Well, then check that off the list, because every single thing that young 20-something said is already a law, and has been for, in some cases, up to a couple of decades.”
    Mom: “Oh. Really?”
Me: Yup. They need to learn what they are talking about, and quit stirring the pot. And the kids, they need to quit bullying everyone around them, both in and out of school.”
    My Dad just chuckled.

And those nurses?? I don’t want them taking care of me!

  13. All- Thanks for the comments, and can’t disagree with anyone! Since we’re in the middle of a tornado warning right now…

    Posted from my iPhone.

  14. Look how well gun control has worked in Formerly Great Britain. Or France, Germany, Spain, and of course Canada.

Britain has now expanded to strict anti knife laws. The Canadians are talking about background checks and restrictions on renting trucks and vans.

The weapon is always the mind, not the inanimate implement used in the crime.

  15. I, too, am a nurse. I, too, have significant clinical experience in mental health. I also have experience in perioperative nursing. I have seen more than one GSW. Not only am I a nurse, I am married to a nurse. Here is a truth about many nurses: they can be authoritarian control freaks who conflate their desire to control others with their very real concern for their patients.

    I am beyond livid.

  16. Forget all this crap about “gun violence” and get your own damn “hospital violence” issue straightened out first. Statistics say that there are ~100-200K(IIRC – it may be higher) deaths due to medical errors in hospitals every year.
