Fighting back…

The University of Wyoming rolled out a new slogan and video last year…

Apparently more than two dozen faculty complained, including professor Tracey Owens Patton said that, “What goes behind the term cowboy” is “erasure, racism, sexism, heterosexism, and genocide.” The university’s Committee on Women & People of Color wrote in a letter that the marketing campaign “risks casting UW as a place where only people who identify with white, male, and able-bodied connotations of ‘cowboy’ belong.”

Obviously those people have never actually READ anything about the real cowboys who settled the west. They came from all over the world, including a number of Hispanic, Black, British, and other ethnicities, as one of the last ‘frontiers’ in the 1800s and early 1900s… Sigh…

But, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously in July to keep the slogan. Students, alumni and sports fans apparently weren’t offended as revenues were up approximately $38,000 in the latter half of the year and at least 18,000 people clicked the link to get more information.

The Perpetually Offended Snowflakes apparently tried to beat the university into submission, but they Cowboy’d up, and stood by the decision, which does seem to reflect the HONEST opinions of the people of Wyoming, and the students attending the university.

  1. I think the tide may finally be turning on this kind of lunacy. I for one have had it with the scolds and no longer hear them

  2. I’m so tired of the perpetually offended. They need to get a real life so they won’t have time to be getting their widdle noses out of joint every few minutes.

  3. I know a number of cowboys. They seem to come in most every ethnicity. Nearly all are more tolerant than Professor Patton.

    • I suspect that those who complain didn’t bother to watch the video before they complained…

  4. I’m glad they stood up and didn’t give in to perpetual idiots who can’t be bothered to learn their history and instead make assumptions.
I also agree that the tide is turning – they have gone too far, too fast and are losing the support they have carefully built over years.

  5. A human is a human is a human.
Strange so many humans haven’t figured it out.

  6. They’re probably just mad because they look fat in cowboy jeans. That, and horses make them sneeze.

  7. My late mother was proud to be from the “Cowboy” state (also the “Equality” state). When her company hired a man at the same pay grade in the same department as she was, but paid him more (this was back in the ’40s) she challenged management and won. She was the head bookkeeper so she knew what everyone made.

As an aside, she could outshoot my dad who was a returning WWII veteran. I think she would find the snowflakes in Laramie laughable.

  8. Unfortunately it’s considered illegal in most areas to encourage people to visit the dentist for getting the broken tooth replaced.

    Satisfying though it would be.

  9. Here in Florida the snowflakes try to rename the mascots for Florida State University about every 3 years or so.

It’s kind of hard when the whole Seminole Nation (except for a few paid idjits) come out in complete support of the school and chiefs actually stand on the sidelines at some games. Ooops.

The money the snowflakes waste on this carp could be put to better use. But when your pockets are lined with progressive cash (meaning someone else’s money, usually some rich eastern European dude’s money (hint, hint,) I guess you can afford to ‘snowflake.’

Good on the whole Cowboy thing. Nothing like promoting the image of rugged individualists who work hard for a living. And yes, the world needs more cowboys (or cowboy mentality.)

  10. An old high school friend, whom I had not seen in twenty-five years, told me, “You have no idea that you are such a cowboy.”
    He was right.
I did not know what he was talking about.
I had not been on a horse in twenty-years.
Even then I was “All hat and no cattle.”

Being a cowboy it is a “get’r done” state of mind and is an anathema to committees everywhere.
And I think soccer is a commie plot to destroy individual incentive.

  11. Wasn’t Wyoming the first state to give women the vote? Not bad for a bunch of cowboys. I wouldn’t mind living there, if it weren’t so darned cold.

    • Yes, and also the first state to elect a woman governor. All before the 19th amendment. Hence the nickname “The Equality State”.

  12. Twisting (a little) of JOHN WAYNE’s words: Get with the program, pilgrim, or ya’ll be dead where ya sit.

  13. Professor Tracey Owens Patton maintains that this video portrays a culture, (my two words) of ‘erasure, racism, sexism, heterosexism and genocide. Lets have a closer look Professor.
Erasure,I didn’t see anything being deliberately taken away from anyone, not even vaguely concealed, much less destroyed or extinguished. Racism, only saw one Race here, the Human race. Sexism. (Noun). ‘The upholding or propagation of sexist attitudes. An extra bit here for a bit more clarity, get your reading bifocals Professor, you’re going to need them. Sexist. (Adjective. 1. of an attitude which stereotypes a person according to gender, or sexual preference, rather than judging on individual merits. 2. of or relating to sexual exploitation or discrimination, especially in advertising, language, job opportunities, etc.- (noun). a person who displays sexist attitudes. My source material is from the Macquarie Dictionary 4th edition 2005, Macquarie University NSW 2005. Hmmm, as defined above, I personally didn’t see any of that at all, matter of fact, I lost count at 50+ of the depictions of the two human genders shown, further, not once did I see any exclusion, exploitation or discrimination. Heterosexism.(noun)a prejudice against any non-heterosexual form of behaviour, identity, relationship or community, see above in reply. Genocide. (noun). extermination of a racial group as a planned move. Coined by Dr Raphael Lemkin, 1944. In case that little tidbit of fact and knowledge might’ve slipped out of your memory bank. No evidence of that remotely happening here, another blank, pretty well blanks all round don’tchya think?.. I’m not sorry for the length of my reply Professor ‘pissweak’ Patton, you needed it, as do all the faculty members who are either oblivious of the facts and deliberately deny same, you all clearly adhere to the teachings of ‘The Frankfurt School’, a Socialist Marxist coven of European Professors that formed soon after WW1 in Germany. There are, hopefully, some people within the higher echelons of the University of Wyoming who might need to take a very thorough look at why you and your ilk are still on the staff.

  14. Wyoming … Where “cowboy” isn’t a bad word, where it applies equally across genders and if you ain’t on a buckskin ’rounding up the doggies… you can STILL Cowboy Up and be a free & independent THINKING human being. If they just didn’t measure snow in feet and months of duration, I’d go live there. (Or in Idaho, I have family there.)

  15. Locally, that idiot beating a drum in front of the Covington kids was the motivator for our local college Eastern Michigan to rename form the Hurons (a local honorable and honored tribe) to the Eagles, something we have few of and that did not exemplify the people making the decision.

  16. All- THANK YOU! I’m glad I’m not the only ‘cowboy’ left… And all hat no cattle…sigh

    Posted from my iPhone.

  17. Did someone replace Professor Tracey Owens Patton’s “Kick Me” sign? Sounds like it. No other explanation for this, uh, nonsense, makes sense. Well there’s one: #Faceturnblue, just like a 3-year old.

  18. The Snowflakes have obviously made the mistake of Believing that The Old West as depicted by Hollywood has anything to do with actual History. The ‘Western’ has the same relationship to the historical West that Kabuki Theatre has to historical Japan.
