  1. We used the ‘2020’ Champagne flutes that I had hoped to use Election Night or the next day to toast the END of 2020.

I was not able (due to medical issues) to partake of the MN/Norse tradition of dining upon (pickled) herring as the first food of the New Year last year. This year? NOT TAKING CHANCES. Not long after midnight, pickled herring time.

I’ll even risk eating $HOUSEMATE’s black-eyed peas (his cooking is good, but black-eyed peas are STINKY yuck!)… as I said, NOT TAKING CHANCES this year.

    • Just had the black-eyed peas – made tolerable with onion, bbq pork, and lots of hot sauce… still chasing it with absinthe (prepared properly, yes).

  2. Well, those of us still standing survived all 366 months of 2020. Now, it’s the first day of 2020 Won.

  3. Happy 2021!

Per old German tradition/superstition, there must be pork and sauerkraut. Anyone who doesn’t partake is defying the wrath of the gods!

Think a lot of folks skipped the kraut last year. I’m having a double..

  4. So to have a better 2021 I need to eat pickled herring, sauerkraut AND black eyed peas…SOMETHING is gonna be stinky…might be worth it though…automatically EVERYONE will be staying far away from me…hmmm, definitely be worth it…lol

    Happy New Year to all!!!

  5. Here’s to 2021 – may it be a better year for us all!

  6. Happy(?) New Year, Old NFO! Maybe this year will bring some Light out of the Darkness.

  7. I’m just hoping 2021 will be “happy”. Not gambling on it.

  8. The Word tells us that God speaks of things which be not as though they already were. It also commands us to be imitators of our Heavenly Father, so Happy New Year!
May this year be all the things which the last one was not.

  9. All- Thanks for the comments! Meal today will be Hoppin’ John, collard greens, and cornbread… I’m not taking any chances either!

    Posted from my iPhone.

  10. That Boston Dynamics thing is why I keep a bandoleer of M2AP close at hand.
