Patriot’s Day!!!

While most states don’t celebrate it, today, April 19 is Patriot’s Day, commemorating the 246th anniversary of the opening battles of the American Revolution at Lexington and Concord.

This was the start of what became America!

History.com has a nice write up on it HERE.  Take a moment to remember those who lay down their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today…

  1. Hey Old NFO;

    That was a great writeup, learned a few things I didn’t know. Now we have an American Government talking about seizing Citizens arms amid great tension. I wonder if history will repeat itself.

    P.S. Yay I am first !!

    • It’s going to rhyme with some historical event.

      At this time, I’m not confident in any specific historical model.

  2. The park is pretty nice, and you can walk on the old road most of the way from Concord to Lexington.

  3. Bob- Point…

    Bob2- Yep

    BP- I never got to do that, which is one of my regrets. It was POURING the one time I got up there.

    • Perhaps. Or perhaps they simply held their fire until they could see the whites of their eyes.

  4. Patriot’s Day is the big holiday in MA compared to July 4th.. Lots of re-enactors in costume, someone does Samuel Prescott’s ride the night before (the one who made it to Concord, Revere did not), and a 21 gun salute from brass cannon.

  5. Liberty broke out in 1775, and politicians have been trying to get out front and take credit ever since.

  6. Just as a heads-up, My Daily Kona seems to have dissappeared.
