Oh hell yes!!!

Oddly, it seems that ONLY political or posts that might ‘offend’ seem to miss schedule… WTH WordPress???

This happened last year, but it’s still worth a repeat…

Luke Duncan is the chairman of the Ute Indian Tribe Business Committee, the governing body of the Ute Indian Tribe. The tribe is made up of three bands: the Uintah, the Whiteriver and the Uncompahgre; two representatives from each band are elected to serve four-year terms on the Business Committee.
The tribe’s Uintah and Ouray Reservation is located in northeastern Utah, approximately 150 miles east of Salt Lake City. It’s the second-largest Indian reservation in the United States, covering more than 4.5 million acres.
Last year, the Salt Lake Tribune ran a commentary titled, “Time for the U. to Give up its Native American Nickname.” The author, a University of Utah employee named Christopher Mead, argued that the University of Utah needs to stop using the name “Running Utes.”
The tribe responded-
Our business committee, the elected governing body of the Ute Indian Tribe, was incensed and deeply troubled when we read the piece. Mead’s approach in raising this issue on behalf of our tribe, and the implicit attitude of saving the Ute people from themselves, lacks common sense. It undermines tribal rights, it causes conflict between native and non-native communities, and it negates our ability as a sovereign nation to make appropriate decisions for our people.

This response, and the one by the Seminoles in Florida over the Florida State mascot both got a good bit of press on the conservative side as they slapped down rather effectively the wokesters that wanted to ‘complain’ for them.
But…
Apparently this week the Cleveland Indians will now be known as the Cleveland Guardians… Whatever that is… 106 years of history, gone.
And the Washington Redskins are now just known as Washington… Can’t even come up with something acceptable… Interesting…
At least the Atlanta Braves are standing up to the wokesters and telling them to go pound sand!

  1. Taking a page from Prince’s playbook I propose:

“The Washington football team formerly known as the Redskins”

A bit long for a t-shirt but some clever marketing fellow could figure it out.

  2. When it comes to I know what’s right and good hypocrisy? No one beats a Democrat.

Just ask the folks in Tuskegee.

  3. The Washington Hypocritical Bastards? That sounds good to me. Or is that too triggering for people born out of wedlock or does anyone actually care about that anymore?

And, yes, in Florida, the Seminole Tribe actually gets some money from the whole Seminole name and mascot thingy. It’s considered a source of pride by most of the Tribe.

Then again, the Seminole are kinda weird in comparison to a lot of Tribes. Not as… um… er… stuck on the reservation, if you know what I mean. They tend to not be the stereotypical Reservation Indians that unfortunately do exist under the current Reservation system.

  4. How about the “Washington Burglars”???
    “Washington Money Launderers”??
    “Washington Liars”??
    “Washington Grifters”??

Come on, folks! Make up names for them!

  5. I’ve always known and been around Native Americans on and more often off reservations. Amazing, they are just people going about their lives. Kind of like people of African descent.

  6. Jet- Oh yeah. Point…

    Beans- Concur.

    Sam- LOL Works for me!

WSF- Exactly! And they are NOT dummies…

  7. I find it fascinating that nobody points out that what is happening is the removal of any reference to Indians or Blacks from American life.

  8. I wish Atlanta would rename the team, just to get rid of that droning moan of a chant they make during the “tomahawk chop”.
