Misappropriation???

Ran across this one yesterday that kinda made me to the old Labrador head cock…

The Army recently inked a $3.5 billion contract with Pfizer Inc. for the pharmaceutical company to produce 500 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine.

But those shots are not planned for soldiers’ shoulders.

Instead, the contract award states, they are for “international donation” and procurement is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2022, according to the Pentagon.

Even more interesting in light of this little gem in the article…

In June that scientists at the Army’s infectious diseases branch at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Maryland, had tested a “catch-all” vaccine that could protect against current and future strains of coronavirus.

Full article, HERE.

Didn’t the congresscritters scream about this last year??? Something about reallocating monies to the border???

For definition purposes, misappropriation is the intentional and illegal use of funds for another use or other unauthorized purpose than its intended purpose. (31 USC, Section 1301) requires that funds appropriated by Congress be used only for the programs and purposes for which the appropriation was made.

Somehow I don’t think buying vaccines was what the Army’s funding was appropriated for… And they sure as hell need the money for maintenance of equipment and upgrades!

Dammit… Kicking the soapbox back in the corner now and going to look for my BP meds.

Misappropriation??? — 12 Comments

  1. See how charitable we Dogfaces are?
    (Spit).
That came out of a budget that should be providing the BEST equipment and training our soldiers can receive.
    My country has gone crazy.

  2. Well, to be fair, trying to make sense out of the leftist autocrats’ shifting positions has always been impossible.

Like, well, Cuomo the governor. He deserves a Nobel Prize, according to the eneMedia, for his heroic actions during the Covidiocracy, while also needing to go to jail for his unheroic actions during the Covidiocracy.

If you want waffling, changing sides, alternate reality and a really bad head trip, just try to follow what the leftist autocrats are saying.

  3. Just wrote my Congresscritter a letter. Had to prove I was not a robot twice to write one letter, plus be subjected to a warning that it is a federal offense to threaten a sitting Congresscritter. Apparently it is becoming enough of a problem that they feel the need to do that. Here is my letter:

    Congresswoman ******,

I just read this article in the Army Times regarding the purchase, by the Army, of 500 million doses of Covid vaccine for the purpose of “international donation”. I am not aware that Congress authorized the Army to spend that money outside of its mission. I have two questions:

    1. If this has not been directly authorized, why is the Army spending this money in violation of 31USC1301

    2. If it was authorized, why did Congress take the step of burying an international relief program into the military budget instead of in the appropriate agency when the military is struggling to maintain it’s readiness as evinced by numerous news stories and articles.

For reference I am a former Navy officer and try to keep up with the goings on in the military in general. I am seriously concerned about military funding, expenditures, and readiness.

And then realized I forgot to include the link and had to send a second letter.

I expect boilerplated pablum back but at least I can say I tried.

  4. My kid’s not happy, his pay’s been cut under the new regime. And this raises a question.

What happens when they can’t afford to pay the troops. Perhaps they’ll all go home and set up vegan communes.

  5. Hearts and minds, y’all. I’m not saying I agree with this but there is a conceivable good reason for it.
