Sigh…

As if Loudoun County wasn’t bad enough, now Fairfax County has doubled down on the stupid…

On Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Scott Brabrand issued a “Principal Briefing” that orders administrators to suspend students who don’t wear masks to school, according to a copy of the briefing that a whistleblower provided Parents Defending Education.

The edict is in defiance of an executive order by Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin giving parents the right to choose whether their children wear masks to school or not.

Full article, HERE. I’m really not sure why they think open defiance of the state government is a good idea, but then they ‘think’ since they are the ‘elite’ and know better…

I don’t see this one ending well either. The AG’s been pretty clear he’s going to investigate school systems that don’t follow directives.

And this one is worth thinking about…

  1. I’d humbly correct Mr. Sowell on one point. It was Nikola Tesla who gave us AC, which electrified the USA. Edison tried with DC current.

  2. I will align myself with Mr Sowell – the doers are too busy doing to waste time giving long-winded speeches.

  3. Nothing useful will EVER be introduced by nay-sayers who think it’s a bad idea and/or can’t be done.

  4. It was Carnegie who gave us free libraries all over the nation, not the college educated liberals.

It was hunters who started land and wildlife conservation, not the Sierra Club or the Department of the Interior or Fish & Wildlife.

It was loggers who started tree farming…

The list goes on. And on. And on.

Just the introduction of the affordable personal automobile saved us from a very messy public health crisis, a crisis that no government or NGO, especially not the ASPCA and other animal rights groups, at the time could take care of.

    • +1
Many years ago the then small town my where my parents lived nearby had a sawmill that burned their sawdust and slash. Sometimes the smoke drifted into town and one day my father was in town for business.

“Bob, isn’t this smoke terrible?”, asked a recent resident.

Sniffing the air my father replied, “I smell a 100,000 a year payroll”.

    • Sounds a bit like a threat. I live in Loudoun and my kids go to school there and wear masks to improve their odds of graduation.

The law in Virginia is for the school division to make the rules, not the state, and that includes executive orders by the governor.

      • So, your children are wearing masks that are rated at minimum N95, fitted by professionals, and replaced at least daily? Nothing less will stop a virus passing through. Finding masks that are sized for children may be difficult.

Investigation of world wide deaths during the 1918 Spanish Flu concluded that most died as a result of bacterial infection of the airways due to the masks collecting and encouraging bacterial growth. Masks in that time could not stop virus particles from passing through, just as most of them today do not.
A lab report on school kid’s masks recently showed the same problem. Lots of various types of hazardous bacteria collected inside and outside the masks.

  5. “If the natural tendencies of mankind are so bad that it is not safe to permit people to be free, how is it that the tendencies of these organizers are always good? Do not the legislators and their appointed agents also belong to the human race? Or do they believe that they themselves are made of a finer clay than the rest of mankind?”
