Gas lines again too???

Or will people have to decide between food and gasoline? Prices have jumped over $2.00/gal in Texas from what they were at the end of 2019. I saw the first prices over $4.00/gal yesterday.

Texas is RURAL state for the most part, and driving is an everyday part of life. There isn’t bus service, or subways, or metros out here in flyover country outside the cities.

AAA announced that the U.S. average gas price is now slightly more than $4 per gallon. Gas is at its highest since 2008. But before gas prices took a jump due to the first Green New Deal War, being hosted this year by Ukraine and Russia, there was Bidenflation, supply chain fiascos, COVID-19 lockdowns, and Joe Biden’s turn toward windmills and Chinese solar panels to fuel cars and planes. And because he took America away from making most of its own energy, we suckers in the provinces are staring down the barrel of $7-per-gallon gas.

Full article, HERE from PJ Media, which also blows up the administration’s claim that the oil companies are raking in all the profits.

I did a little more digging and found a report from the American Petroleum Institute from January of this year broken out by state for both gasoline and diesel taxes by state. It is rather interesting to see how much each state scrapes off in addition to the $0.184/gal that the Feds take for ‘road maintenance’… yeah, right…

Gasoline taxes-

Diesel taxes-

So we (they USA) have gone from energy independent to dependent on Russia and OPEC for oil in a year…

And Xiden et al are now going begging to Iran, Venezuela, and OPEC to beg them to up production/cut deals with stated enemies, rather than open up US production again. Buttboy’s answer was go spend $60,000+ on EVs because .gov is ‘going to fund’ nationwide charging stations…

Any bets on how long before we see nationwide $7.00/gal for gasoline? (Kommiefornia doesn’t count, they are already there)…

Dammit…

  1. Here in rural Japan we’re at over 170Y/liter =~ $6.50/gal for regular unleaded up from 145 or so middle of last year.

It would be more if the government hadn’t temporarily reduced gas taxes to keep in the low 170s. I think I’m right it would be almost 190 if they hadn’t done that but I could be out by a bit. As it is, I think Californians are now paying more than we are, which is kind of mindblowing.

In terms of cost f living I’m sure California is more expensive than Japan which is definitely mindblowing, plus we don’t have the shortages of stuff in the supermarkets that my Californian coworkers bitch about.

  2. The last time gas was over $4/gallon, I was commuting 130 miles a day roundtrip. I remember a few months spending more on gasoline than on my mortgage. Glad I’m retired. However, the stock market is falling as fast as gas prices are rising. I’ve lost two years of retirement account gains in the past two months. The little guy is always gonna get bent over the table and get it – no spit, no grease.

  3. UK prices are running at about $9 a gallon. People have no choice but to pay it but it’s aggravating that some of it is going to pay for the illegal that force their way in here.

  4. I have many peeves about the lefties… but I think the two which are most annoying to me is that they are utter hypocrites — something which is perhaps my pet gripe — and they can’t connect the dots between this action and that result. There are other peeves… they always blame someone else, for one…

    • One of the greatest red pills is when you discover that the Leftists in charge know exactly what they’re doing, and what the probable outcomes will be. They do all this to us on purpose. They’re not stupid, they’re evil. The primary goal is, and always has been, the destruction of the civil society. They are making war on the American people.

      • Their thinking on this is immiseration theory of revolution. Which says to them that they win when they make us miserable. They know that they are lying to us, hurting us, and disorienting us.

They do /not/ “know exactly what they are doing.”

If they knew exactly what they were trying to do, they would have a real understanding of why their efforts at US revolution bounced before.

They do not understand the fundamental errors of Marxism. Some of the leadership are evil people, that understand that Marxism-Leninism exists for the purpose of enabling Evil in this world, but they make the mistake of believing the Marxist prediction of how it succeeds, instead of the much more underwhelming truthful explanation of how it ‘succeeds’.

        • At some point, the argument becomes moot.

Toasty’s Corollary to Hanlon’s Razor: Any sufficiently destructive stupidity is indistinguishable from malice, and should be treated just the same.

It doesn’t matter if they know or don’t know. They need to be stopped.

        • Their actual goals are not their stated goals. They may talk a good game about “revolution” and “fairness” and “justice” but they are not driven by lofty or noble impulses, even though they genuinely believe that they are. (In their internal narratives they are the brave heroes, the “Rebel Alliance,” the Robin Hoods, plucky little David standing up to Goliath, etc. Few people deliberately choose to be the villains in their own story, meaning only a few of them are vicious and cruel purely for the sake of it.)

The leftists/progressives/etc are mostly driven by RESENTMENT. The world was cruel and unfair to them in some way, even if only in their own heads. Because of this tragic psychological outlook, getting their stated goals might be satisfying, but not nearly as satisfying as seeing the world crash and burn. Finally! My oppressors will be as miserable as I am! (A sort of Samson option.) So failing to achieve their stated goals is not an actual loss, so long as there is destruction and misery left in their wake.

I’m not saying the joy of seeing the world corrupted and degraded is a conscious pleasure for these people, but the dark joy is there, and it is only very shallowly concealed. This is because of their own psycho-pathology. Understanding this can be very difficult if you are not similarly pathological in your own head.

(Yes, I know I am setting myself up for a zinger. Maybe I AM a nutcase. Or I’ve listened to wiser men than I and thought on what they said about this sort of thing. Or both.)

          • The evil leaders have more extreme pathologies than you describe.

Lenin and Stalin basically, with their sycophantic collection of victims, created the defining behavior of communists. Their cronies thought that they could appease the two, and not be murdered capriciously by their replacement Czar. For Stalin, the murders of his cronies were as much a part of his fun, as the other murders were.

So, there are two types of communist. One, basically has the natural criminal tendencies that if acted on, would see a person justly executed for common law capital felonies. The second type of communist is terrified of being outside of the ritual bounds of the party; Whether outer party or inner party, they are almost as afraid of contradicting the party truth as were the communists who were trying to avoid being murdered by Stalin, Mao, Che, etc.

The crony/victims do sometimes enjoy the act of corrupting, and degrading.

But they may not be quite as driven to harm others as, say, the serial rapists.

  5. At the present rate I expect to pay $7.00 per gallon before summer heats up. I live in PA. and with the taxes the state has placed on gas we are one of the higher states in the nation for the price of gas. Everything else that is moved by train, truck or automobile will be going higher and higher. I have canceled doctor appointments in the city of Pittsburgh because of the cost of driving there from where I live which is about a 45 minute drive one way. Its either the doctors office or pay the utilities and buy food. By the way Brandon in the White House has released some more of the oil from the strategic reserve and seems hell bent on depleting all of the oil there. Probably sending it to China like the oil from the first batch he released.

    • Never fear, instead of drilling we’re going to give Venezuela and Iran our money.

And to add insult to climate change injury? That tanker voyage from Iran burns millions of heavily polluting oil.

Good thing the grownups are in charge.

  6. If you didn’t see this coming and didn’t buy 35 gallon plastic barrels and a hand pump, you are well behind the power curve of life. I have 600 gallons stored and will use it most niggardly. Same with canned goods and frozen items, on a separate solar/wind/battery system. It’s just about too late to prep so BOHICA.

    • Don’t forget stabilizers. So many people don’t know that gasoline goes bad over time without the addition of stabilizers.

  7. The high prices are part of a plan to force American consumers off of fossil fuels and into “Green Energy”. Since people won’t move “voluntarily” to be “Green”, they have to forced to move.

As Biden’s Energy Secretary noted: “We’re working through an energy transition…The reality is, we have to take some time to get off of oil and gas, we recognize this. This is a transition.” pic.twitter.com/ZOCJIdZCa5

If they wanted to fix they problem, they could reverse their 1st day EO cancellation of the Keystone pipeline and their ban on drilling/fracking. Don’t forget, we were exporting petroleum and natural gas when Biden signed his EO’s on his first day in office. Or as the sticker says, “I did that”.

    • “Energy transition” would be ever so slightly believable (NOT “more” believable, merely believable) IF and ONLY IF we were also building new nuclear plants at OMG-We-Need-These-Yesterday pace. Since that’s NOT happening, well, that what they claim is what comes out from under my tail. And theirs stinks even worse!

    • The idiots and knaves in power, pushing this transition falsehood, ought to personally transition to a diet of gravel.

Eating gravel instead of food is as sane and reasonable as ‘generating power’ from solar and wind instead of hydrocarbon and nuclear.

      • I mean, you CAN generate power from solar and wind turbines.

        Not enough, though.

        • As a “electric cars will save us!” type the following.
          1) Explain the equation E=IR.
          2) How many amps are the transformer at the end of the block rated for?
          3) How many amps will the neighborhood pull when everyone plugs in their electric cars.

          • The answer is 0 as only THEY are supposed to have electric cars, the peons can use public transportation or better yet none.

  8. All- Thanks for the comments and no disagreement. Filled up this morning, $4.39/gal for mid-grade, $4.99/gal for premium, last week was $3.83 and $4.43. Over $80 to fill up… grrr…

  9. Last week watched a man filling tanks on a one ton flatbed construction rigged truck. Used three credit cards as the pumps quit at $100.

  10. I seem to notice availability is not an issue. You can get all the $4+ gasoline and diesel you want or can pay for.

  11. Here in SC, where gas has been historically lower than most other states, the average is now $3.92, up from around $1.79 in 2019.

  12. Remind me… why did I buy this Cummins/Dodge?
We’re an hour from the Missouri State line in IL.
If I throw gas cans in the bed of the truck it’s an easy matter to make it worthwhile to cross the line to buy fuel. The cost savings pays for dinner out for two.
    LET’S GO BRANDON.

  13. Hey Old NFO;

The progressive Donks don’t care, they love in their bubble and are insulated from their decisions that impact the rest of us, and if any of they are impacted, the lapdog media will find a scapegoat to blame so they can gaslight them so the blame isn’t on Xiden and the politicians that brought this feckless behavior and results on us.

  14. I’ve predicted $5 before the end of the month, so I expect $7 sometime in high summer.

I guess the RV is going to feel abandoned again this year.

  15. Couple of points – 1) many of the other countries with high fuel prices would cross several international borders if they had to drive the miles from my house to Houston; 2) I just saw some late night pundit say he doesn’t care what fuel prices are as he drives a Tesla (yes they really are that dumb) 3) milk was more – $3.98 last week than gas – $3.65. The prices are ‘almost’ making ammo look cheap ;-(

  16. Remember. The criminals in power hate Americans. They want us to suffer….and then die. This is ALL part of a plan to subjugate, control and harm us. Then they continue culling the herd. They tried to with COVID but it hasn’t worked as well as the hoped.

    • The vaxx was the actual weapon, not the virus. If they had got that to 100% distributed, the earth would have been a lonely place in a couple generations, as it causes sterilization. Still, the damage it does overall will be considerable.
