Once again we have a lefty REEEEEing about a guest at a con…
Three guess as to whom that is! Of course, it’s the ILOH…
Get a drink of your choice, this is gonna take a while. Sadly, this went down while we were on the livestream yesterday, so I was getting bits and pieces second hand. But thankfully, we’ve learned to screencap this crap when it pops up.
FenCon is a nice little con in Dallas in September. Larry was announced as the Guest of Honor (GOH) not long ago. This set off this person as you will see below-
This went on a while longer, with her repeatedly getting called out about her lies. Which led to her nuking the entire post (h/t to Nancy for the screen caps)!
After that, she went on the FenCon page… And FenCon stood up to her and those of her ilk as you will see below! But the interesting thing is HER comments on this thread trying to claim victimhood… In the interest of this NOT going on all day, I’ve deleted a couple of the intervening comments so you can see Larry’s reply.
Some of you may remember when LTUE tried to boot me back in 2019 thanks to a guy named Luke Peterson who pulled that same crap on me (because I wouldn’t kowtow to his ‘obviously’ superior knowledge). Thankfully, one of my friends saw that thread and captured it, as he pulled the same stunt.
Now I don’t claim to be anything but a Z list author, but I am a grumpy old man, and a conservative. Had it not been for Larry and some others standing up for me, I would have been banned.
Flash forward to 2022, and FantaSci last weekend. We had left/right/center folks there and freely discussing many things in actual CONVERSATIONS! Nobody was screaming at anybody because we were sitting at the same table and actually talking and RESPECTING other points of view. I didn’t see a single flounce the entire weekend.
THAT should be our goal, to celebrate the writing, arts, cosplay, music, etc. that we all enjoy! Keep the politics and BS out of it. Lets just have fun at the cons!!! Dammit, that’s why we go to them!
And yes, the North Texas Troublemakers will be at FenCon in force this year! We’ll be in the bar. 🙂
I heard Larry speak at a local bookstore years ago.
He’s a great speaker and he signed the copy of MHI that I’d bought when he self published.
I think the only correct answer to someone who threatens to take their toys and go home is tell them goodbye.
I’d like to think that a calm and rational discussion with them would broaden their mental horizons but as that never seems to work, I’d chose to spend that time in another way.
Dang. I wish I could go. It’s already lit and the con is still five months away. Maybe in 2023.
Make sure you smile when you see these people and happily offer to buy them a beer.
In the bar? Two hours later, they’ll make an emergency re-stock order, for all the war stories.

Too bad no one would cosplay a majordomo with dead flowers at the booth: butler with dead lilies, at an unregarded career death.
The point isn’t to have a calm, rational conversation.
The point is to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women (whatever those might be).
Funny enough I woke up and read this while wearing my MHI tee shirt.
It’s the way of liberals though–‘I’m not going to do X and this is why’ all the while not realizing that honestly no one cares.
But have to say to need to upgrade yourself on the author scale.
The rants of the woke/liberal/sad puppy crowd is endlessly amusing. Well, okay, they get tiresome after awhile. But watching shoot themselves in the feet … that never gets old!
All- Thanks for the comments. It does get tiresome, and frustrating when we just want to have fun at the cons! Which we do, in spite of them… Alcohol may or may not be involved…LOL
I met Larry at DragonCon a couple times. I’ve always found him to be intense but never overbearing, and happy to chat with fans.
(Fun bit: I once mistook D.J. Butler for Larry, but that had a happy ending as I wound up getting into Butler’s Witchy Eye novels.)
The drama is manufactured because not only could they not beat Larry’s argument, they can’t beat Larry. His books sell. Period.
No dog is this fight but good on all of you for standing your ground.
For some reason, the name of the complainer sounds familiar.

Good idea on staying in the bar. That place, along with sitting on the throne in the Head, are two of the best places to come up with ideas and possible solutions. Toss one back for me, mate.
What is Fencon?
If they are doing this to Larry Corriea, just think what they would have tried to do if Robert Heinlein were still around. I’ve been an avid science fiction reader for over 60 years, and still read quite a bit of it. These whiners are unhappy with life (& themselves) and want to make everyone else just as miserable as they are. I totally support FenCon’s position.
They still take a swing at Heinlein now and then, but Heinlein’s sociopolitical views were so all over the place it’s hard to really work up that good head of steam.
I’ve had different people tell me he was a woke progressive as well a reactionary deplorable. It’s hilarious.
Thank you for posting this. Since the con is in Texas, I might actually be able to get there this year. I love Larry’s work.

That implies skill level.
You have “A” skills with a smaller audience.
I remember when cons didn’t discuss politics. Not because of a rule or any such thing, but because it just wasn’t seen as germane to the con.

We’re headed towards a civil war anyway, might as well make good use of the intel. It’s a rare thing when the opfor goes out of their way to identify themselves. Lists work both ways, and these are the people that will be denouncing you.
