Looks like the gloves are coming off…

From yesterday’s meetings on the hill.

Congressman Mondaire Jones (D-NY) warned law-abiding gun owners that Democrats will do everything in their power to ensure AR-15s and similar types of firearms are confiscated during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday.

The hearing was to consider H.R. 7910, the “Protecting Our Kids Act,” which would raise the legal age to purchase “certain semiautomatic centerfire rifles or semiautomatic centerfire shotguns” from 18 to 21 with “exceptions.” The bill will also “modernize the prohibition on untraceable firearms [and] encourage the safe storage of firearms.”

Full article, HERE.

According to him, ‘nothing’ is off the table to get the bill rammed through. And he said ALL semi-automatics were assault weapons that held more than a minimum number of rounds should be banned. When asked if that included pistols, he waffled… which means yes, Glocks will be illegal too, since according to him, they are ‘assault’ weapons, along with BHPs, CZs, S&Ws, etc.

Xiden, last night, said the 2nd Amendment is NOT absolute. removing protection from gun manufacturers for lawsuits and more. He pushed red flag laws, raising the age to purchase to 21, etc. and DO SOMETHING! If you want to do that, let’s make EVERYTHING 21. Voting, gender surgery, abortion, everything. Consistency should be required, not just a goal for ‘one’ item.

I believe the dems are sure they are going to lose in Nov, not able to beat the margin of cheat, and are going to slam through everything they can as quickly as they can. Otherwise, I don’t believe they would be jumping up and down on the third rail of politics (guns), and ignoring inflation, the food issues, and the price of gas, goods, and services.

In other news, gas is over $8/gal some places in California, approaching $6/gal in the Chicago area, and premium was at $5/gal in north Texas yesterday. I did notice more people open carrying yesterday, and more people paying more attention to their surroundings. Obviously SA is up right now between Uvalde and Tulsa.

Some folks are wondering when the bubble is going to go up in various media. Personally, and I hope I’m wrong, I think it will be this fall when food shortages start hitting the major metro areas. Once the food riots start, I don’t believe it will stop short of a full scale nationwide uprising.

Your thoughts?

Looks like the gloves are coming off… — 35 Comments

  1. I think it will go off in December or January, myself.

    • Nah, diverse people don’t like to riot in cold weather, they aren’t built for it. I’d guess September to maybe the November election, but not much beyond it, at least for the northern half of the country. In the Southern U.S., the liberal-funded riots might go on longer.

      • I don’t think that the left will be the ones involved, honestly. I believe that it will light off as a response to widespread and open voter fraud during the midterms.

  2. I don’t believe we will see a full scale national uprising, as I define the term. Some others might call it an insurrection.
Who would be trusted to lead it? That wouldn’t immediately join those patriots in the Jan 6th Gulags?
This nation needs to do something to protect itself after the coup of 2020.

  3. I’m surprised it hasn’t kicked off already. The tinder’s already been laid out. I wonder who or what’s going to strike the match?

  4. The notion of raising the age of majority (guns, booze, voting, sex change, whatever) BACK to 21 is not a bad idea. It was there, once. The only thing when I was young was the draft, which was 18. But you will never ever get a Dem to agree to that. They want the young kids to be able to vote, and they know that that age group is very impressionable to demagoguery of the sort they can push in the schools. This isn’t a knock-on young people at all — we all were a little wild, once, I suspect.
It’s taking a page out of playbook for all the major dictatorships — Stalin and Communist youth, Hitler and the Hitler youth, China, you name it.

  5. This year and last year, the reported numbers of people that are first time purchasers has been a steady increase, one amusing story from kalyfornya last year is that a lot of people were outraged they had to wait 5 days – or whatever it was – between purchase and actually having their new handgun. lmao

When will the balloon actually pop? no idea. But, as NFO said, the food shortages will be the key for everything getting ugly. When the shelves really start getting empty, because the truck drivers can’t afford to work 1 week in 4 because of fuel prices, or because of a DEF shortage, might as well stay home for a few weeks and get ready to snipe, because the bottom feeders will be looking for anything they can steal, with NO regard for anything else.

  6. Burning it all down better.
    Creators create and destroyers destroy.
A smoking crater of ruin in two years is certainly historic.

  7. When we reach the point of people going hungry and no food is available the riots will begin. Those with some sense should organize a viable resistance to the dictatorial Democrats running the government and resist with all means available. If the Democrats want a revolution then they must fire the first shot.

  8. I’m an old man now. I worry for my grandkids. I’m ready for “come and take it”. My only regret would be the idiots that create the law and expect it to be enforced are not the ones who will be tasked with enforcing the law. The gun haters don’t hate guns, they just hate guns in the hands of those they want to control. They love guns in the hands of the enforcers of their will. So makes me wonder do they actually think they can pass a law and they will get 100% compliance? The reason they keep passing more restrictive laws is there isn’t 100% compliance with the existing law. How many laws, moral and statutory, do these evil people break in their mass shooting events? Will it make any difference at all in creating another law to be ignored? Only this time there will be a group of people who will ignore their law who would normally be law abiding. How many people will make this their line in the sand and will die on this hill? I don’t know. I don’t even think those who are promoting and creating confiscatory laws think about it. Things I wonder about. How many will die to enforce such laws? How many will die in non-compliance to such laws? One thing I am sure of though. The political power class do not care for me or you. They only care about power. Every thing that is happening now from fuel prices, food shortages to inflation is all a part of their grand plan. Slow Joe even said the quiet part out loud recently when he let slip the high prices of fuel was purposeful to push people to go “green” for the planet. We can’t wish each other to live in interesting times. We are already there.

  9. $6+ for diesel for the first time at a station on the way to work yesterday.

Common sense reform proposal? – open juvenile records for any 18 to 21 yo wanting to purchase a firearm since they don’t have much, if any, of an adult history yet.

Not sure about just raising the age. I will concede that 18yo are much stupider than they used to be. Not their fault, the fault of societal shifts and expectations, but true nonetheless. If age is raised, however, should be tied to a voting raise also. 16 yo to decide direction of country but 21 for self defense is nonsensical.

    • I made that last point over at Sarah Hoyt’s blog a few days ago. They seem to be trying to raise the age for everything else (guns, alcohol, tobacco, even drivers license in some states) while trying to lower the voting age. If you’re not mature enough to drink responsibly, are you old enough to vote responsibly?

  10. yeah, arab spring on steroids. but the dims aren’t trying to push it thru b/c they think they will lose. they are pushing it thru so when they win by cheating in our faces it won’t matter. but they’ll be wrong. a hungry man is one thing. a man with hungry kids is quite another. and everybody knows the dims are doing this on purpose. 500 MILLION POUNDS OF BEEF EXPORTED LAST QUARTER ALONE. revolt w/o a shadow govt in place is just anarchy, waiting to be put down. unless fla or tx take the lead we’re screwed. but it’ll be fun double tapping them while it lasts.

  11. I pray you’re wrong. If the SHTF, it’ll make the breakup of Yugoslavia look like a church picnic.

As to “common sense firearms reform” – Add juvenile, military courts martial, and mental health records to the instant check system. Have harsh penalties for those that fail/refuse to do so. Allow citizens to run instant checks on private sales if they wish for the same $10 fee FFLs pay with the ability to print a hard copy; with proof of an instant check an affirmative defense to selling a firearm to a prohibited person.

Additionally, identify, treat, and hospitalize as necessary the mentally ill. The Uvalde and Buffalo shooters should have been committed somewhere before those shootings happened. Our mental health system is a joke.

    • FFLs in most of the country don’t pay anything; we shouldn’t either.
They’ll never allow individuals to conduct background checks because their goal is documenting who owns what, not whether the owners can pass a background check.

What we need is enforcement of the laws already on the books, with real, and consistent, sentences for violating current laws.

  12. It won’t just be famine. Heating oil, gas, propane, etc. will be insanely expensive this coming winter. I will have wood chopped as a backup but not everyone can do that. The federal government may think that engineering a famine will work for them by creating a new normal of privation – along with making things illegal along the 2A route. They’ll rely on their track record of turning people into sheep during the plague. Will it work?

Not where I live, but in the cities?

    • Making people into sheep worked when they just had to stay in warm comfterable homes. It is a different kettle of fish if they are cold and hungry.

    • By winter it may come to men not only having to deal with hungry children but maybe grandma freezing to death and the kids shivering in bed hoping the power comes on long enough to cook the rice and beans on the electric stove, or maybe having to take the government up on bunks in a nearly deserted military base from the Cold War!

  13. The (P)regressives are desperate to energize their base. Abortion and gun control is all they have going for them so they are doubling down. Will it work? They got the Lightbringer and Xiden elected; don’t discount them. Then there is the whole fraudulent election scheme which is still intact in many places. The Senate may be our last hope. Otherwise, it is years in courts ahead.

  14. I think people might be overestimating the riot model.

2020 riots were astroturf, using colluding politicians and journalists, and with criminals and communists for the food soldiers.

Everyone else in America is saner than academics, and more deliberate than criminals.

Which reasoning leads me to my usual conclusion of ‘waiting on consensus both that these are very bad people, and on what is appropriate to do about them’.

  15. Anything that makes Demoncrats and RINOs an endangered species is a net plus for the republic.

Trying to ban the most popular rifles and handguns is merely laying the groundwork for the boxcars.

Now imagine if ordinary people had started shooting all the Nazis in 1932.

  16. Interesting observation over at Kim’s place–

    https://www.kimdutoit.com/2022/06/01/comebacks/

A generation living from one “current thing” to the next?

I agree with WSF, that our domestic enemies are becoming ever more desperate. Ukraine is slowly crumbling, drying up their cash cow. Here, their planned destruction of this country is waking a sleeping giant. IMHO, something is going blow either before the November election, or because of it.

  17. We need politicians to recognize that ‘red flag’ confiscations are in effect temporary ‘takings’ in a constitutional sense. I suggest that a good antidote or protective buffer would be to enact parallel laws whereby the confiscating agency has to assess the value of the items seized (look up gunbroker.com, etc.) and put 125% to 150% of the value of stuff being held into escrow. If the person ends up losing possession permanently, then the agency has to cash him out with the escrow. Wouldn’t that put at least a bit of a clamp on confiscations, especially if greedy agencies are trying to play ‘civil forfeiture’ = ‘our new equipment and pizza party budget’ games?

  18. I think the timing is now out of their control at this point. The energy shortage they have created will grind things down to a stop at some measurable point in time. I don’t know what that is but it is probably very soon. The rumor of a few weeks of diesel left has been floating around. If true, that will impact everything else including gasoline, food, meds, the economy, national defense, etc. Shortages across the board just from lack of fuel for transport, (or even affordable fuel) can only mean chaos. Business cannot function if there are no parts to make products or any way to ship them. Businesses close. People get laid off. People default on their debts. Everything is now unavailable or unaffordable. The fiat economy and hyperinflation were already part of the plan, but the spark of the fuel shortage will blowout the economy almost overnight and that spells doom for the markets, people’s savings, the value of the dollar, the reserve currency status of the dollar, etc, etc. There really does not need to be a further social or political trigger waiting to occur for a shtf meltdown to happen in these circumstances. The destruction of rule of law at the border and in California, NYC, and other places will lead to immediate societal breakdown in those places first and spread outward from there. If the EBT cards all stop working on the same day and or there is a wave of bank failures there could be coast to coast LA style rioting simultaneously. The subversive elements standing by for trouble (antifa, blm, black nationalists, islamists, etc), will just utilize the economic riots to attack what is left of Anglo-Saxon civilization. The frustration,, anger, and resentment they need to spur widespread violence will develop by itself, growing out of the economic crisis and resultant crime wave. I expect the local police to melt in the face of this in the worst locations, and the politicized, militant mobs to run wild within walking distance of the riot zones. The .gov will probably declare a nat def emergency and suspend civil process such as it is. IF all of that happens just from the fuel shortage, the various bioweapon attacks they have in progress will not be a factor in a political sense as they will have already established a defacto lockdown and dictatorship they seek. The power grid is just as likely to fail or partially fail just from the lack of fuel and supply redundancy, but it is highly likely to be attacked by both foriegn and domestic actors in the meltdown. The medical implications of these introduced bioweapons will play out in the population anyway, and the nature of those implications can only be guessed at. Russia and China may still elect to nuke us by then, but the smart play would be to just stand back and let us burn. If this all happens this summer, we will already be in a self induced famine before the manufactured world famine takes hold later in the year.

  19. All because US citizens are too lazy to ask one important question: what has changed in the last 50-70 years to make our young people do these things?

    • Destruction of the old norms and failure to replace them with new, real norms. The old norms were a result of centuries of religious and cultural history, and the ones not encoded in law were taught by parents, preachers, teachers, and books of manners. No real new norms have replaced them because law and social pressure are wielded to advance progressive causes and figures, not by any meaningful standard. Until this changes mental problems such as suicide and mass shootings are likely to remain high.

  20. All- Thanks for the comments, and good points raised. I didn’t think about the fuel/oil heating costs for the winter, and thankfully, I have a couple of cords of wood laid in. North Texas gets ‘chilly’ with maybe a week of really cold weather in the winter.

I have no idea what the young are going to do, if they do anything until the net dies and they can’t play their computer games or get on social media.

  21. The puppetmasters want the US to erupt into civil war. The Naval War College has a good lecture, “Energy at the End of the World”. While I don’t agree with all of it, globalization is falling apart. US and Russia are the only 2 countries capable of being energy independent via oil and gas (All others would need to use coal and nuclear).

I believe the goal is to get the US to tear itself apart. Declare Martial Law that will never end. Dictatorship in place. Those who resist will be starved and frozen. While I don’t think you should ever do what the enemy expects, provoke someone long and hard enough and a fight will erupt. If all else fails, run a false flag.

I suspect things will break down before the mid-terms. If not, elections will be stolen as needed, false flag run and martial law declared.

By my count 3 events have happened recently with AR-15’s, what are the odds. More people are kicked to death than killed with long guns each year. There is a pattern here.

The question is how many local governments will go along? PA, MN, AZ and GA are compromised based on election cheating. Other states like NY are dominated by NYC. How successful will Atlanta be at forcing confiscation of weapons and food outside of the metro area? Can a state succeed if rural wants to go one way and urban another? How will we pick up the pieces?

    • Xoph if it gets as bad as that there may not be enough survivors left to pick up more than a few of the broken pieces. Enough to start over, maybe.

  22. Xoph- Excellent points. And in the south, rural and urban (depending on the city) WILL go different ways… sigh

  23. The criminal pedocrats no longer care what we think of them, what the “polls” say or anything else other than their ability to wield power. The gloves truly are off. They didn’t try to hide the election theft and they are not going to hide their coming assaults on our freedom.
Why should they? They can now determine the outcome of ANY electoral race they choose and do so with impunity. TINVOWOOT.

  24. What amazes me is the amount of normalcy bias. On the other hand, we have had shock after shock and many people are just at the limit and are pretending to not see anything. Or worse yet, what can you do? How to prepare when your budget is strained as it is? As noted above, who do you hold accountable and how?

I think GomeznSA is correct, there will be a lot of breaking up. Local strongmen will emerge, the cities may become city states. But also people will start to reassert local government as part of taking control of their lives. I’m not even sure states will remain functional. However, TPTB will not go quietly, and as evil as they have been if they can’t have it nobody can. Expect utilities to be cut off if you are in a rebel area. Only those trusted will get their ration of water, electric and heat not to mention food. Think you are self-sufficient-what happens with the national guard foraging parties come through and confiscate from the hoarders? (Think your neighbor in the guard won’t do this, what happens when is pay is a share of recovered food he can use to feed his kids) This is going to go ugly and of course the government’s position will be only they can save us. They’ve already tried a disinformation board (it will come back). What other bioweapon is in the wings (Covid was a bioweapon, the results of gain of function research). TPTB are looking to confiscate weapons, they believe that is a hot button that will start the party (i.e. Bunker Hill 2.0).

The pattern is too consistent. Our situation is not due to incompetence, but is a result of intent. America, Christendom and Western Values are under attack. If you were attacking America and your strategy was to have American’s tear themselves apart – what would you do?

  25. Being old and something of a curmudgeon, I have no objection to raising the age of majority to twenty-one. Right up until you turn 21, you’re not bonded, you aren’t allowed to vote, drink, smoke pot (where it’s otherwise legal), or consent to sex. Plus, you can’t be charged with a crime as an adult.

The stumbling block to this are States’ rights, and the genii being out of the bottle, so to speak.

I’m 69 years old, and these days I feel every day of it. I cease to wonder why people behave the way they do, and concluded that most or all of them are crazy, ignorant, or just plain old stump dumb. Likely some combination of the three.

I don’t think we’ll have food riots or any major insurrection during my lifetime. This is just my opinion, and I could be wrong. Naturally, I don’t think so.

In spite of the high cost of fuel and the shortage of food, life for me will just keep on keepin’ on. Some day I’ll make it to the bell.

  26. I think the balloon will go up around August. Power outages in what is supposed to be a very hot summer will prime the pump. High food and energy prices that force de facto shortages/unavailability when the goods are still technically available will be the final impetus that gets the pump turning. As so many have noted, wait until you see what parents desperate to feed their kids will do. I think the technical term is “Whatever it takes.”

There’s a guy on YouTube, Southerprepper1, who has been doing a series of videos where he’s simply reading reports from his viewers about their local situations. Some interesting stuff. Last night he went off message for a video on the subject of feeding your neighbors versus shooting them. Some serious food for thought there.

  27. We’re fucked. The people responsible have names and addresses. You do the math.

Hope your pantry is full and you’re with good people.
