SecDef and Sen Tuberville’s meetings did not result in any compromise over the DOD’s abortion stand (free transport, uncharged leave, etc.) So of course, Austin is having a hissy fit…

With the top spots at the Army, Navy and Marine Corps now vacant, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin blasted Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s blanket hold on department confirmations on Monday for “undermining America’s military readiness” and adding stress to an untold number of military families.

“This is unprecedented, it is unnecessary, and it is unsafe,” Austin said at a retirement ceremony for Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday in Maryland. “It’s hindering our ability to retain our very best officers and it is upending the lives of far too many American military families.

There are procedures in place for occurrences like this, but the administration doesn’t like the fact that they aren’t getting their way, so they have to blame somebody, rather than actually compromise… sigh…

And Xiden is overriding the military’s recommendations on personnel for CNO, and I believe, the new CJCS.

I hate to say this, but at this point, I cannot in good conscience recommend the military to anyone…

One of our AL post members (E-8) was on orders, had sold their house, and packed out when the USAF realized they didn’t have the money to actually move him, so they were going to have he and his family live ‘in quarters’ (read the on base temp lodging), until they got money which ‘might’ be Nov-Dec… Since he was selling his house to his relief, who also didn’t have money to move, they cancelled the sale, and he’s retiring next month, not by choice. He and his wife are FED UP with the BS currently going on.

  1. Austin needs to go and so does Biden and his entire pro-CCP administration. I fear for the United States surviving the rest of his term. The damage that has already been done to our military going full woke will be very hard to overcome. The push toward WW III by Biden and those at the top running the military today are nothing like the retired men and women of the past. Their loyalty is to themselves and not to their country. But that is a reflection of the way Biden and his administration are leading this nation into the dust bin of history.

    • Lloyd Shitbag Austin doesn’t just need to go. For the damage he’s caused to the military, for the lives lost in both Afghanistan and due to the jab, he needs to be hung from a lamp-post until dead and his body left to feed the crows. Milley can hang with him, as leaving BILLIONS of dollars in weapons and equipment to the Taliban should be considered giving aid and comfort to the enemy, i.e. treason. Both of those worthless pieces of garbage are a disgrace to the uniform and an embarrassment to military service. I retired this year, and I cannot recommend that any young person join the military at this time.

  2. I truly believe that the Biden puppet machine is out to destroy the USA and that includes the military.

  3. It’s the same up here in Canada, only our military has been going off the rails slowly for decades.

    Just one recent example: https://tinyurl.com/4sz4pjyw

Add to that years of leftist social experimental programs on the troops before forcing those on the general citizenry, a habitual lack of funds for military purposes, old broken equipment that is patched up and limps along for years (even decades) beyond when it should have been retired, sending soldiers into the occasional battle in foreign theaters of combat without adequate supply or equipment, treating the vets without any respect or support, even encouraging them to just die instead of giving them the proper medical treatment they earned with their service…

Like you, I can not recommend military service here.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it didn’t fall all at once either.

  4. Yeesh. Five months in temp housing… We’ve done it, or close to it. Not fun. And if you have the option of retiring, that looks a whole lot more inviting. Sounds like we’re getting out just in time.

  5. BS has been the SOP for as long as I can remember. Only the faces change.

  6. “I hate to say this, but at this point, I cannot in good conscience recommend the military to anyone…”

I have felt this way for quite awhile now. Pretty sad coming from someone that once served.

  7. I never encouraged either daughter to consider serving; the older girl thought about it very briefly after high school. But that’s as far as it went.

And I thought Jimmy Carter was bad … sigh.

  8. My youngest granddaughter decided “Hell No” even knowing she was a strong candidate for a Naval Academy appointment. I’m thankful. A grandson is in the National Guard. He is safely in the rear with the gear and is unlikely to be deployed.

I’ve always wondered about the legality of National Guard units being deployed overseas absent a declaration of war. Another LBJ legacy? The Colorado Air Guard was called up during the Vietnam conflict (flying F-100s at the time). Nearly put two local airlines out of business.

  9. Funny, no money for troop’s change of duty station but plenty of money for diversity training.

  10. I also will no longer recommend young people to join the military. Unless things change in the next six plus years, I will actively dissuade my grandchildren from joining.

I spent 12 years active duty, 14 years active reserves and now am officially USAF retired. I am angered at what the U.S. Military has become.
