Bread and circuses???

Welp, the House tried again for Mayorkas.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been impeached by the House of Representatives.

A Cabinet secretary has not been impeached by the U.S. Congress since 1876.

The office of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Mayorkas’ impeachment trial will begin later this month.

Full article, HERE from Fox News.

So, this will play out over the next month or so, with…predictable results in the Senate, with the Dems refusing to kick him to the curb. Meanwhile, crap that NEEDS to be done will be pushed to the side…

Again…

And there is still no action on the border, the Senate has still refused to take up HR2 which was passed last year, the administration has now decided that the VA should be treating illegals, there is no budget passed, and we are effectively in a 2 front war with Russia/Ukraine and Israel/Gaza/Hezbollah and the Iranian proxies…

And in California’s senate debate, one of the candidates said Commie…er Californians ‘deserve’ $50/hr as a minimum wage to ‘survive’ in that state.

The loonies truly ARE running the asylum…

  1. You are right the loonies are running the show. We have more than our fair share here in Pennsylvania. But just think for a moment about the super loonies that elected the loonies into office. The United States is becoming more and more like a Looney Tunes Cartoon show with the whole world laughing at us.

  2. “And there is still no action on the border,”

There will be no action on the border whether or not they impeach Mayorkas. Fact is, he is impeachable and under a sane system would be removed from office. I hope to see more of these.

“the Senate has still refused to take up HR2 which was passed last year,”

The Senate will refuse to take action on this bill whether or not Mayorkas is impeached

“the administration has now decided that the VA should be treating illegals,”

The administration will use VA funds to treat illegals whether or not…

“there is no budget passed, and we are effectively in a 2 front war with Russia/Ukraine and Israel/Gaza/Hezbollah and the Iranian proxies…”

See where I’m going with this? With a sketchy and small minority in the House and a minority in the Senate and no President, it doesn’t matter what bills the House passes on a variety of important issues. So you pick and choose which ones send the biggest message.

My only hope is that once the Rs take power again they will do what they should have done in 2017 and 2018 which is ram through a package of strong conservative reforms that would have to be legislatively overturned rather than struck down by Executive Order. They were weak then, perhaps they will be stronger the next time.

    • I can agree with much of that, but the prospect of a Trump administration supporting a reduction of his right to rule by executive order, seems dim and distant.

  3. Maybe the illegal immigrants will get a taste of VA care, turnaround, and go home.

lol, who am I kidding? They’ll get treated better and faster than the vets.

    Yes, I’m feeling salty today.

    • Not the VA. The Indian Health Service. The care offered to Indians can make the VA look like white glove and silver platter at the Mayo Clinic. (Granted, part of that is tribal politics.)

  4. The impeachment trial should garner some press which might be forced to tell their viewership why it is happening.
    And show the evidence presented.
This should be valuable in an election year.
    If elections matter any more.

  5. The congressional lower chamber majority and upper chamber minority have become the Alter for their Mango God. Their Mango God has explicitly forbidden any legislation that would help close the boarder as that would be viewed favorably for the Biden administration. Their Mango God has detailed the need for open boarders in order to convince the voters that it’s the Biden’s administration fault and that only his magical powers, if not reelected (cheated out of reelection), can fix the problem.

Accordingly, the Republican Party has become, at least temporarily, the indisputable party for open boarders.

    • I’m not the most ardent follower of US politics, but that is how I see it working currently. Polarised to the degree that anything the “Other Party” does is “wrong” by definition, and must be opposed.

Actually, it’s polarised noisy minorities who are pre-selecting the figurehead candidates who tell them what they want to hear, stirred up by media who make money by telling them what they want to hear ….. while the majority are sitting back appalled, but unable to see and hear reasonable, rational alternatives above the noise.

Financially, America is like the man who is making $100,000 per year and claiming that he cannot find a few $hundred to help a couple of desperate friends while also changing the locks on his front door. The problem is not the small bills in front of him, but the amount that he has spent on other “luxuries” that nobody wants to discuss.

…..and yeah, Aus is in a very similar position. Our politicians are slightly less of the comic-opera flavour, but they are no more competent.

  6. All- Thanks for the comments, and no, it’s not getting ‘fixed’ anytime soon ANYWHERE… Grrr…

  7. Listening to one of your Congressmen talking through the issue, the other day.

His basic argument was that Congress requires some way of sanctioning people in public office who refuse to do their job. Refusing to do your job is not a criminal offence, but it should be a sacking offence if proven.

    Why Mayorkas and not Biden?
Well firstly, the relevant legislation determines whose job it actually is, and secondly, impeaching Biden -if successful – would result in Harris stepping into the President’s shoes and who wants that?

I’m no expert on the US system, but it sounded reasonable.

  8. “Loonies” is the perfect description.
(With more loonies voting for ’em. Wasn’t it De Tocqueville that predicted this?)
At this point all our generation can do is be prepared, and watch as this comedy unfolds.
