About time…

Cheatle is gone from USSS, finally.

Ronald Rowe Jr., the Secret Service deputy director, was tapped Tuesday as the acting director of the embattled agency while the Biden administration searches for a new leader following the near-assassination of former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania earlier this month.

The agency’s current director, Kimberly Cheatle, resigned earlier Tuesday, one day after enduring blistering criticism by bipartisan lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee for the agency’s failures in nearly allowing a 20-year-old sniper to kill Trump during a Pennsylvania campaign rally on July 13.

Full article, HERE from USA Today.

After her disastrous ‘lack’ of testimony on Monday which was so bad even democrats were calling for her resignation, she’s gone!

The deputy at least has been on the detail (with Bush 2004-08), so he knows what it takes. And he’s been there over 20 years, so he’s got a lot of corporate knowledge. Let’s hope he can get things straightened out before something ‘else’ happens!

I wonder if we will ever get straight answers to ALL of the issues from last week’s attempted assassination, especially with the Fibbies and DHS effectively investigating ‘themselves’…

Sigh…

  1. I watched a small portion of the Congressional hearing. Most of what I saw was brutal (and absolutely warranted). Not surprisingly, the Director refused to answer even the most simple questions because “the investigation is ongoing.” However, one loyal party member asked her if DEI practices were in anyway to blame for the security failure. The Director stated they had absolutely nothing to do with it. Hmmm….

  2. Both Republicans and Democrats called for her resignation.

What does it say about my cynicism that I suspect the Republicans wanted her gone for her failure to stop the assassination attempt, while the Democrats wanted her gone for her failure to succeed with the assassination attempt?

  3. “I wonder if we will ever get straight answers”

    You won’t.

  4. It’s worth remembering the best-case scenario here is complete and utter incompetence on the part of the USSS. Anything else, anything at all, gets very ugly very fast.

  5. It takes very little time for institutionalized incompetence to become endemic and once in place it can be nearly impossible to
remove. Often in such cases the only effective response is to
    dismantle everything and start over.

As for “straight answers”….that’s NEVER going to happen.
Honest answers require evidence. The FBI on day one started
gathering all that up and burying or destroying it. The criminals in power don’t want anyone to know what happened. They want
speculation and rumors to abound. Those help obfuscate who was involved and how.

  6. When those in charge can absolve themselves of responsibility, ignore dangerous failures, and simply quit without any punishment, they will. To make things worse, this government type fiasco always leads to some type of pension, the ignoring of financial gain due to the position, and any evidence is destroyed.

Cheatle is gone, but like only replacing one tread on dangerous stairs, the underlying rot remains,

  7. I expect the FBI report to be blistering.
There is no love lost between those to organizations, both who feel they are the best of the best.

The FBI has several times suggested that the Secret Service should either be put under the FBI or dissolved and they should take over the presidential detail. Think of it like the Army saying the USMC should be rolled in to it’s command.

In the end it’s about power and budget dollars. In the end nothing will change

    • The Army has asked for that several times, and with the Wokie in charge of the Marines now preparing them to die without support from other services, the way they were abandoned by the Navy (Adm. Ghormley) on Guadalcanal, it looks like that may be coming to the surviving Marines after the next Pacific unpleasantness

      • A Marine General with a keen sense of the absurd was said to remark, “What sailed Guadalcanal was the loss of so many carriers.”

        • Should read”What saved Guadalcanal was the loss of so many carriers.”

U.S. Marine and Army KIA 1,592 (out of 60,000 landed). Loses at sea exceeded 5,000.

  8. “And he’s been there over 20 years, so he’s got a lot of”……

This is where one should begin worrying.

Cheatlebeest was on the crew that hustled Dick Cheney into the Peoc on 11th Sep 2001. She has seen what those people do, and has lots of hot potatoes to toss about if she is mishandled. Expect a sudden faked death, some urgently needed plastic surgery, and a new identity as reclusive rugmuncher on a backblock on Noumea….she can’t be properly whacked, else others will see there is no point staying stumm no matter how much vigorish and cover they are promised.

  9. “Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power.”
    ― George Orwell, 1984

  10. Things that make you go “Hum?”
USSS has no recordings of rally radio traffic. Hell, in 1983 the FPS was recording all radio traffic. And recording equipment and media are MUCH cheaper now.
CNN was covering the rally live. This is the first rally they’ve done so this campaign. Why? Were they expecting something “special?”
Agree that the USSS and FBI will bury any and all evidence not supporting The Narrative.

  11. Regrettably we have no way to determine if what we are seeing is a cover-up of criminal negligence in failing to protect Trump – or a failed assassination attempt with active or passive participation by Deep State.

  12. Ask them no questions and they’ll tell you no lies…

“Do not forget this, Winston— always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face— forever. ”

  13. At this point, there will be people who profess to disbelief any and every answer that does not suit them.

That does not mean that their disbelief is reasonable…. or their conspiracy theories.

  14. Cheatle was on Jill’s team back in the day. She has 27 years in the SS. The reason she got the director’s job was due to Jill. She knew what it takes to succeed or fail or seem to fail. Look at it this way—they were willing to sacrifice the integrity and reputation of an entire agency to get Trump.

Having someone with experience step in isn’t necessarily a good thing.
