Interesting follow up…

To yesterday’s post…

The Pentagon has denied allegations linking a specific department staffer to the leaks of two purported classified documents that held sensitive information related to Israel’s expected retaliation against Iran.

Two documents purportedly from U.S. government agencies, the National Security Agency and the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, on Israel’s expected response began circulating online last week. The documents include sensitive information that reveals indications of how Israel intended to respond, though the leak may have forced the country to alter its response.

On Tuesday, Pentagon spokesman Maj. Gen Patrick Ryder denied that Ariane Tabatabai, the chief of staff to Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict Christopher Maier, is responsible for the leaks. Foreign outlets have pointed the finger at her, while her name has spread on social media.

Full article, HERE from the Washington Examiner.

Apparently this is not the first time her name has come up with respect to Iran influence operations…

And more interesting is that while none of the MSM are putting her name forward, many overseas news organizations ARE saying she is involved.

Now the question(s) will be are the FBI getting all the information, and how much ‘access’ is the Pentagon covering up.

And I don’t have good answers or good feelings about either one.

  1. Another one from the Rachel Maddow school of good looks! I’d be surprised it the finger pointing at her doesn’t turn out to be correct given she’s a graduate of Kings College London.

  2. I haven’t had any good feelings about our military since they went woke or under the current group of generals and admirals that are at the Pentagon. Add the top people at the DOD as well. When General Mille was caught talking to the head of the Chicom Military and telling him that Mille would give the Chicom leader a heads-up before any attack on the Chinese mainland by US forces. This has led me to believe that there are traitors at the top.

  3. Hey Old NFO;

In the past I would have been incensed about it, but now I almost expect it from the current crop of people in the upper ranks of the 5 sided puzzle palace and the clowns at foggy bottoms, their loyalties isn’t to America’s interest, but interest to other countries overseas and I keep thinking of the level of classification that was violated and they will do nothing to this person, and how different it was when we were in and it will let others trust America less because our intelligence leaks like a sieve. Let’s make Leavenworth great again and start making examples of these elitist fools.

  4. “Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict”

WTF kind of title is that?
    Seriously?

  5. When and if she’s convicted of espionage, I hope she’s sentenced to a loooong stretch at Leavenworth.

    • I’d prefer a short drop from a trap-door platform. There are no excuses for leaking classified materials. If a person has issues with classified programs, there’s avenues to deal with it, within proper security channels.
Having done IT, IA, Cyber and Security Controls Assessor for nearly 25 years for various DoD teams, the capability of removing classified info, especially that level of sensitivities, is absolutely inexcusable.
I saw a little of the investigations following Snowden’s leaks. 11 years later, it has happened again. Did nobody follow DoD 8510 requirements based on NIST SP800 series?
      .OR.
      Was this intentional……….?

  6. I am under the impression that “copies” of extremely sensitive materials contain “markers” or very slight different grammar (a “which” on page 107 instead of “that”) With the internet, it is pretty simple to sprinkle font in the background color in the text instead of blanks.

When a copy shows up in-the-wild, the originating agency can search for the markers and deduce where the original was inserted.

If a similar process was followed and Ariane Tabatabai was actually identified as the source then she shouldn’t buy green bananas.
