Bits and pieces…

Does anybody ‘really’ care if Mike O, Pelosi, et al attend the inauguration or not?

I know I don’t care… There are only three people that are ‘required’ to be there.

Chief Justice John Roberts, who will administer the oath, Donald J. Trump, and Melania Trump to hold the bible. He is going to use his personal bible and the Lincoln bible for the oath.

And all that ‘globull warming’ is going to be so cold, they are moving it indoors…

I was in Arlington, VA for W’s second inauguration and both Obummer’s inaugurations, and believe me, there was DEFINITELY a difference in the crowds and attitudes. I stayed in all three times, especially the Obumbecause I didn’t want to deal with the ‘stupid’ on display as the flood of $$$, egos, and attitudes came into town.

I do find it funny that millions of $$$ are being ‘donated’ to Trump for access to the balls, meet and greets, and the inauguration itself. A friend got to go to one of W’s balls, and she said it was ‘tiring and overloaded with people’. She did enjoy seeing all the Texans in their cowboy boots and Stetsons, and noted how polite they were, but the tension of everyone waiting for W to show up was ‘irritating’ according to her.

In other bits, Fauxahontas is questioning those same high rollers as to why they are donating to the Republicans, HERE. Funny, they never did that when THEY were in power…

And Xiden commuted even more sentences yesterday, bringing his total to something close to 5000 criminals he’s (or whomever is running things) letting loose, HERE. The administration is doing everything they can in the last few days throw roadblocks in front of the Trump administration, including putting drilling off limits, more free passes for illegals from Guatemala, Venezuela, and I think Haiti. They are doing so many I can’t even keep up!!!

This one… BLM is ‘demanding’ a Safeway in Fillmore (SFO) remain open, even though they are losing $7000 a month in theft, cause there will be a ‘food desert’, HERE… Ummm, if they didn’t steal the store blind, they might have stayed open…just sayin…

Reminds me of when DC tried to strongarm Walmart a few years ago, after they bought land, and were going to open a store in the district. DC tried to tell them what wages they had to pay, jacked up what Walmart would have paid in taxes, and I ‘think’ there was a clause about the minimum number of years they had to remain open. Walmart just walked away from the whole deal, and I think they sold the land cheep!

And this one is just odd. Why now?

When Congress approved the ERA on March 22, 1972, it set a deadline of seven years for the necessary three-fourths of the states to approve it. That deadline came and went on March 22, 1979, with only 35 states approving of the amendment. Thirty-eight were needed, so that was that. In 2017, however, as the #MeToo movement was cresting, Nevada became the 36th state to approve the ERA, with Illinois following in 2018 and Virginia in 2020.

Full article, HERE. 40 years too late…

In the good news category, Israel has approved the cease fire with Hamas to bring the hostages home, HERE! This has been a long time coming, and I can’t help but wonder how much impact Trump’s statements made to ‘quickening’ the negotiations.

And Navy veteran Zachary Young won his lawsuit against CNN!!!

The basic award is $5M, with punitive damages still to come, HERE. Granted, lawyers will get a big chunk of that, but it is a win for the little guy! And it did expose CNN’s dirty laundry about what they think about us peons…

  1. I felt relieved when I heard the event had been moved indoors . I thought that it would be more secure , there are a lot of people and entities that really really dislike Trump . He needs a super detail for personal security this term , not like suit and tie leather soled dress shoe types , but full on military contractor type executive protection specialists . I’m not disrespecting the S.S. , perhaps they can up their game . I do worry for the new President and want him to be safe in his job and his travels. He needs/ deserves top notch security.

  2. I’d like to see Trump pull out an envelope, announce it as Pelousies invitation to the inauguration, then tear it into little pieces.

  3. The court’s decision re Zachary Young is very welcome. Once the punitive damages section got underway in court, CNN offered to settle on that amount and Young apparently accepted. The terms of that settlement will likely not be known, but I’d have to imagine they were substantial and for the full amount (traditionally 3 times the original judgement in cases of willful damage, which was proven in the case.)

Why a settlement and a probable NDA?

    Young’s advantage:

    1. He gets his money immediately and doesn’t have to wait through years more of appeals.

    2. His legal bills stop mounting higher and higher.

    3. His judgement against CNN is now official and in the books, and that’s part of what he wanted. CNN will forever be known as the “Convicted News Network”

    4. He can now go live a quiet comfortable life in fiscal security.

    CNN’s advantages:

    1. CNN can compel Young’s silence in the NDA as a condition of receiving (and keeping) the amount that would have covered the punitive damages the court might have awarded. If Young does violate that condition of the NDA, CNN can legitimately demand that money back. That’s a good bet for them given how much attention this case got in the press. Everyone’s going to be after Young to speak further about his win. (CNN is forgetting how well some retired USN folk keep their oath of secrecy.)

    2. CNN can immediately refocus back on whatever it wants to do, hoping this guilty verdict drops out of the news cycle and people forget.

    3. CNN doesn’t have to risk an earthshaking punitive damages issued by the courts that went way beyond the traditional treble-damages. At one point, their lawyer was berated in front of everyone (including the jury) by the judge for outright lying to the court. CNN probably wanted to make the risk of this go away with a quickness. They may have even offered more than treble damages to Young to get him to agree. The risk of “losing it all” was probably far too high for CNN to be willing to roll the dice.

Overall I’m calling this a wonderful win and justice delivered for Young. I wish him well.

  4. Pity it’s SFO and The Cereal State (Fruits, Flakes, Nuts…) “Alright. But we’re arming EVERYONE. .44 Masg hollow point, unless they want do deal with .50. Robbers who are shot tend to rob less. If you don’t like it, don’t rob. It’s THAT SIMPLE. Good DAY, sir! (PS: We’d use .88 Magnum if we could.)”

  5. Seems that Biden is doing everything that he (or more truthfully, the powers behind the life-support machine) can do to F* things up for DJT and our country. A pox on him and those supporting him. If he cannot be brought to trial for theft of Classified documents, is he mentally capable of signing as CiC?
Israeli ceasefire? I wouldn’t have recommended accepting a ceasefire. Israel and others want hostages back, but Israel should deliver dead terrorists in proportion to the dead hostages returned. And NEVER trust Hamas. Ever.

  6. Biden was declared ‘not competent to stand trial’ for his classified material mishandling case. If he wasn’t competent to be tried HOW is he competent to be President? IANAL but I see a colorable legal argument that every action he has taken since that time is null and void, including any and all Executive Orders, commutations, and pardons.

    • Biden was not declared incompetent to stand trial. It was merely the opinion of the investigator from DOJ that Biden’s memory was suspect. That gave the AG an opening to drop the investigation.

      Politics as usual.

  7. I my just hoping they are not going because they are petty small-minded goblins, not because they have something nasty planned for DJT.

  8. Five states have rescinded their approval of the ERA so that took it down to 30. Even so, the three who approved it after the deadline are utterly irrelevant. If they want an ERA they need to start a new one.

  9. To me it looks like Israel made the deal with Hamas as a favor to Trump, while expecting them to cheat, lie, and murder at every point.
The DemonRats will scream when it fails, and demand Ieraels’ surrender, but that won’t happen.
Israel (and Trump) will then say “we tried”, and Israel will stomp them into the dust, where they belong.
I hope that Trump survives the inauguration, and swiftly removes our enemies from the agencies responsible for his (and our) security, so that his and our work of reclaiming our nation can begin.

  10. All- Thanks for the comments, and yes, glad the inauguration was moved indoors! MUCH safer… Ag- Agreed! I was not aware CNN had caved. Interesting…

  11. There have been problems with unmanned/drone aircraft entering the capitol air exclusion zone, and the weather was a convenient excuse to move the events indoors where they’re more secure.

The balls and dinners where people try to be “seen” are ok, I guess. It’s not my thing. You need to get a ticket to the MAIN EVENT dinner to make it worth being there and I have no idea what that would cost. Enough to buy me a new airplane.

  12. What is the old saying? “When you are up to your ass in alligators it is hard to remember you are trying to drain the swamp”.
The Swamp is trying to create more alligators for Trump to deal with. I suspect he is smart enough to see it and, unlike his first term, prepared to deal with it. No more mister nice guy.

  13. Concerning the Safeway story:
About 20 years ago, in Trashville, Dollar General opened a store in the projects, to ‘provide jobs for the low-income community’. It went along OK until a young choirboy was shot by the police, whereupon the locals rioted and burned down a couple of blocks of buildings, including said dollar store.
Soon thereafter, Dollar General announced that they were rebuilding the store, ‘so that the low-income community wouldn’t be unduly harmed by this tragedy’.
That’s when I said, “Screw ’em”. I haven’t set foot in a DG since.
