As to ‘who’ John Murphy is, HERE is Mas Ayoob’s article on him.
It is only a matter of time before Islamic terrorists execute a Mumbai, Westgate Mall, Garissa University College, and perhaps even a 7 October scale attack in the United States. Consequently, citizens armed against a criminal threat may find themselves drafted into the war for civilization by being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Carrying a concealed pistol to protect against garden variety thugs is a vastly different proposition than confronting terrorists bent on committing murder and mayhem. Here are some planning considerations for this dire eventuality.

He lays out what the terrorists will do, and what your options are to survive it. With the increased ‘terroristic’ attacks lately, you really need to read this and figure out what you are going to do, and how you will do it.
It is up to each of us to figure out what/how we’re going to react…
Just sayin…
Jim,
Thanks both these are are timely and well worth the read.

Yep, sobering reality. And living in the rurals will not make you immune from becoming a terrorist target. Not paranoia but vigilance will be required. Very scary, especially for those with very young children.
Yeah, John’s excellent. His courses aren’t necessarily the ‘shoot 1000 rounds over a weeknd’ type, but they provide real world skills every concealed carrier will benefit from.
Ian had a good article on church security, and one of the comments there from Bill Armstrong of Mead Hall Range included a list of recommended firearms trainers
Just a few thoughts. Define — ahead of time — what your personal priorities are. Keep you SA up at all times. Don’t try to stop a mob — you don’t have enough ammunition and they are useful idiots anyway — but if you can’t get out of Dodge, look for leaders — bullhorns, people talking on phones…
But better I shouldn’t talk too much…
In this vein of thought, read Kurt Schlichter’s The Attack.
Tom- You’re more than welcome!
jrg- Yep…
Tom- Good point, and yes, Bill is pulling some good folks in to teach at his place!
Ian- Agreed!
Ed- Oh yes, good book!!!
Anyone who is any kind of first responder or who holds any position that might see them activating in an Incident Command Post should attempt to attend the Critical Decision Making for Complex Coordinated Attacks course, PER-335, delivered by LSU
Real eye-opener, draws heavily from the Mumbai, Bataclan, Charlie Hebdo attacks. May have been updated, don’t know.
I attended for work (not a “responder”) and as an amateur radio operator.
If you haven’t seen it Hotel Mumbai is an excellent movie about the terrorist attack in Mumbai. The sense of being blindsided, terrified, and trying to survive are very starkly presented. Not for the faint of heart. I saw it on Tubi for free.
If you can find photos of the action at the Mumbai Hotel, you will see a group of shooters wearing “shoot me” vests going through the building. Seems there was an IPSC combat range near that venue, and a meet or practice was being held that day. I think they were invited to attend a “practical gun class”. A “bring your own gear/come as you are” meet. I don’t recall how effective they were that day, but they might have been the most capable threat the terrorists could have encountered.
John Murphy here…holy cow I was wondering where all the traffic was coming from! I am glad you all appreciate the article, but I’m afraid the clock is ticking to the inevitable.
