Great gesture, but…
Despite the Democrats’ government shutdown, our brave troops will be receiving a paycheck, thanks to an anonymous but extremely generous billionaire.
President Donald Trump identified the mystery man only as a “friend of mine” who did not wish to receive recognition for his actions. The $130 million donation will allow our military to keep paying the bills amidst the Schumer Shutdown. Unlike the leech Democrat congressmen who will continue to be wealthy regardless of how long they drag out the shutdown, our military put everything on the line for the paychecks, which could not have come without the billionaire’s generosity.
Trump described his conversation with the anonymous donor, “He called us the other day and said, ‘I’d like to contribute any shortfall you have because of the Democrat shutdown… because I love the military and I love the country.”
Full article, HERE from PJ media.
While this is deserving of kudos to that person, sadly, it’s not that easy. The money will go to the ‘general fund’, not specifically to the military unless it is authorized by… yes… congresscritters. Dammit…
Much as I hate to say it, I don’t see this happening.
And even worse, apparently SNAP/EBT cards will be funded for November or anymore until the shutdown ends, HERE. So we ‘may’ get an answer as to how long it will take for the major cities to start rioting over food…
Sigh…
I wonder about that. It’s my understanding that money donated to the government can be designated for a specific program.
In this case, it may be that Congress hasn’t authorized any FY26 funds to be spent yet.
Where I work, some of our work is funded by our customers (private companies). We’ve been told that we can’t spend any money received after October 1 since Congress hasn’t authorized us to even though it’s not money that came from them.
P.S. I got a tiny paycheck this week for customer work I did last pay period – a whole $120! I assume they took the full normal deductions from it.
The Democrats are playing a very stupid and dangerous game. What exactly do they think happens if the government stops paying its standing military forces? “Nothing” isn’t it, that’s for sure.
If the Congress refuses to work, will we get a rebate on our taxes for the period they lay out? Seems fair to me.
To me, not paying your military is treason.
It’s a dangerous game for the Democrats to play, and with the bombardment of information showing who is responsible, going home at Christmas may mean some Congress critters have unwelcome distractions.
That $130 million donation is $100 per service member. Better than nothing.
IIRC, my paycheck as an E-4 was something like $90; being at sea meant there was no place to spend it so I chucked ’em into a drawer until it was convenient to cash ’em. I’m trying to imagine how I would react to not getting paid if I had dependents. Starting to think Congress doesn’t have the country’s best interests in mind.
All- Don’t disagree with anyone’s comments… dammit…
I wonder how this is going to mess with the retirement pay and disable pay I get? If it does mess it up, it is going to be an interesting November and December for me. Would be nice to know I could do something about this mess we are in. However, I have no clue how to disrupt the commie libturds that caused this. May they rot in the most foul pig shit that the Deivl can come up with.
Anyone taking any bets on whether the congress critters are all getting paid?
We all know it’s Musk. And we all know the left and their media whores would crucify him if they could prove this. The left has OPENLY admitted they WANT “the little people” to suffer…as it’s the only leverage they still have.
Reports suggest one of the Mellon family.
Heltau- No idea… but I’ve talked to my 401K folks and I can get a check in 3 days if necessary…
Roger- They are.
Dan- Damn them to hell
TOS- Heard that too.
Are there any non-Federal conduits to move money to troops? Am-Legion? VFW? PX Auxiliary, Society for the Rehabilitation of Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children?
I find the question of Schmeuer (i cant spell) ‘s tactical thinking or strategic thinking or marching orders a little interesting.
Obviously, it is very likely the same sort of big brain thinking, or same source, as has had fingerprints on other genius plays in recent years.
But, I do find it a bit puzzling.
That said, if I were a committed Democrat, I am sure my own estimates of Republican thinking, perceptions, and conviction of opportunity would be wildly different from my current estimates. Doubly so if I were a long term congressional Democrat.
At one point, congressional Democrats and congressional Republicans seem to have understood that they had some interests in common.
I’m not sure if Democrats in congress were drunk on things in 2020-2022, and if that caused an invisible to them shift in congressional Republican perceptions.
It would make a lot of sense if congressional Republicans have had major shifts in perception over the last year, which were not communicated to the Democrats.
