In the ye Gods and little fishes category…

Spent the last two days with friends and NOT paying attention to TV/Intarwebz…

And I come back to THIS???

An eighth-grade student in West Virginia was reportedly arrested and suspended last week after getting into an argument with his teacher about a National Rifle Association T-shirt he wore to school.

WOWK-TV reports that Jared Marcum faces charges of obstruction and disturbing the education process for refusing to change the shirt, which shows a rifle and the slogan, “protect your right.”

WTFO??? Read the entire article HERE at Fox News… sigh…

And in other news it ‘appears’ (at least according to ‘some’ reports) that the turds in Boston may not have acted alone… So much for the ‘right-wing extremists’ doing it, and now so much for the ‘Oh, they acted ALONE there is no possible Islamist connection or conspiracy’… or anything like that… Nope move along, nothing to see here, won’t impact the immigration debate, nope… not at all…

You really need to drop by In From the Cold and read his post on this!!!

In other news, good times with old friends, “productive” work, and GOOD BBQ… Can’t ask for much more than that…

Oh yeah, and we built an engine!  351 Cleveland, 425hp, going into a 1933 Ford hot rod!!!

351 C - build3

Not the exact engine, but it looks identical- Add flame coated Hooker Headers, billet serpentine belt, etc.  I was too tired and dirty to try to take a picture last night, and forgot this morning…

And my friends have Akitas and of course “I” got woke up this morning by one… First the bark, then the lick in the ear… Sigh…

Let the dogs out, and I watched them while I had my morning coffee; while mommy and daddy slept in…

IMG_1131And Gracie is the alpha, while Duke is a ‘lazy’ beta… both are about 120lbs, but Duke is a longer haired varient…

Now it’s off to actually do ‘real’ work… sigh…

  1. Lots of people have told me to take a week off and when I did I lost half of my sanity when I was trying to catch up on the events and news. I won’t be taking anymore news hiatus sessions.

  2. 1 Who let the dogs out?

2 It’s hard to have a serious debate about radical Islam while we have a closet Muslim who is President of the United States. Just sayin’.

3 And as to the engine, I can only suggest that something wicked this way comes. We need photos of the hot rod body. I can only hope that it’s a bucket coupe.

  3. LL+1 and the awww feeling of being able to work on a real car engine without the need of a computer again. I do miss tinkering with the points and timing and changing the plugs and stuff. No car-fun anymore.

  4. ADM- yeah. agree!

LL- I did LOL, re #2 agreed! and no it is a full bodied 33 Ford 3 window, chopped 3 inches, and ‘stock’ looking… 🙂 And I forgot to get pics of that too!

CP- Yep it was FUN! 🙂 A real distributor, setting gaps, etc!!! And these are the 14mm plug big 4V heads! 2.02 intake 1.75 exhaust!

    WSF- Yep!

    Rev- Agreed on both!

  5. Had the “hot” 351 in a ’69 Mustang GT set up for road rallying [NJ, NY, CT, PA]. Wide-ratio 4-spd and a [?] 3.25 Shelby locker rear. Best mpg was 16 – worst, well… Ate spark plug wires every 10,000 miles and needed Sunoco’s best to start. Ah, sideways at 90 – 120 mph on gravel. Now a 6-cylinder ‘Stang has 303 hp.
Now, at age 70, I have a used mini-van so the arthritic Golden Retriever can get in.

  6. The NRA shirt story reminded me of an incident back in the 70’s. Seems a young lady had gotten herself hauled into court for covering the state motto on her license plate. The state was NH, whose state motto is of course “Live Free or Die!”
