Pigs at the trough…

This… just pisses me off…

They make a MINIMUM of $174,000 a year, FFS…

Democratic members of Congress want taxpayers to subsidize their housing, signing onto legislation that would allow them to deduct living expenses for members of the House of Representatives.

Full article, HERE.

Not no, but HELL no!

I do find it interesting that the Dems do appear to be melting down that Commie Bernie is continuing to move up in the polls to the point that they had to change the rules to like little Mikey into the race so he can try to buy the entire election, like he did Virginia…

But yet ‘quips’ like this get made… “I don’t care what kind of nice, little, legal, Constitutional defenses that they came up with.” – Sen. Mazie Hirono (D – Hawaii)

Really? Hirono once again shows the true colors. That ‘pesky’ Constitution keeps getting in their way…

Pigs at the trough… — 19 Comments

  1. Three words – Senator Al Franken. Remember when he was elected months after the voting, by Democrats who kept “finding” bags of votes, and recounting until they got the answer they wanted?

Does nobody remember how JFK “won” the 1960 national election by blatant, enormous vote fraud in Chicago and Texas (Johnson’s home state)?

  2. And I find it interesting that the Dems can’t even seem to govern themselves — Iowa seems to be a basket case this morning. And they expect us to trust them to govern us? I don’t think so…

  3. Fine. Salary becomes a dollar a year. Per diem only at the long-term rate for that area. Stay in a set of BEQs close by, some buildings CAN be readied.

Our last rep had either a hammock or sofa bed in his office areas, and drove home for the weekend (<7 hours, close enough). Could have flown if farther. Family man who didn't want to waste money.

    • I’m fine with a bigger trough. Provided said trough is made of lead, arsenic, antimony, thallium, etc. and regularly cleaned with strychnine and cyanide.

  4. I’m sure Marine base Quantico has a few empty barracks they can use for housing while in DC. Although we might have to pay to have them fumigated before allowing Marines back I nto them after the Congresscritters depart.

    • Good on Quantico, but I’m thinking shelter halves for them

  5. Jess/LL- Agreed!

Ed- We need to give Hawaii back to the Hawaiians, close the bases, and let them stew in their own juices… The military is over 50% of Hawaii’s income…

    McC- Sigh… yep

    Ian- Hell no!

    PK- If only…

WSF- No I don’t… ‘I’ took the ‘king’s shilling’ and gave an honest day’s work, unlike the congresscritters!

  6. Getting a modest allowance for housing and living expenses doesn’t seem so bad.
It’s when they claim for a packet of biscuits for ‘entertainment’, or for maintenance of a duck house that eyebrows are raised.

  7. Here is what I propose.

Salary and bennies at GS-1 level.

    Pay for your own travel.

Pay for your own protection if you request it (not if a credible threat shows up and you need it.)

Protection provided to the level that you want the average American to have. (No want guns, fine, no guns for you. No want Wall, fine, government will pay to pull your walls down.)

No government flights to foreign lands unless actually doing real business – complete end of junkets. And if you go on ‘vacation’ you had better show receipts and proof that you actually paid out of your pocket, just like any old US citizen.

AND NO PAYING FOR YOUR BOOZE OUT OF US CITIZENS’ POCKETS! (Pelosi, Ima lookin at you!) Pick up your own tab.

Want cheaper housing? Fine, pass legislation that affects the ridiculous price of housing in DC (my dad turned down a commission and a promotion up one rank because he’d have had to move to DC and in 1970 the housing was already astronomical compared to real America.) Better yet, give them free housing… just like the worst US enlisted barracks in existence, with a chow hall just like the worst US enlisted chow hall. I’m for ponying up money to feed these hogs as long as I’m only ponying up the same pittance that some lowly E-1 is forced to live on.

Same crappy computers and same crappy cell phones they force GS-1s to use. Same crappy furniture unless it’s coming out of their own pocket. Same everything.

And no lobbying or consulting with foreign government jobs for at least 8 years after one leaves office. Go back to the job you left when you got elected.

    Suck it up, buttercups.

And any ‘retirement’ you get is the same as any other GS employee. Same with medical. Dental. The whole nine yards.

And no pay raises just because. Requires a national vote. Every year, Yes or No.

Screw it. I know far too many people who have been shafted by Congress regarding their pensions and their medical insurances, how their retirements are now crap because they are living on Social Security and off of Medicare (lots of lowly people never ever got a chance to build a big retirement as Congress kept pulling the rug out from under them. Housing scandal, caused by Congress (Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, thanks Barney!) and many ‘this or that’ ‘reform’ with McStain’s name linked to them.

    Gaaaaaahhhh!

You selfish, worthless little trotters are supposed to be subject of the people, not rulers. You are supposed to serve the US citizens whom you are elected by, to serve them and their interests.

Screw you all and the donkey you rode in on!

  8. I had a lot of friends that had a second apartment because their work was in a different city from their home. They got no breaks. Let the Critters live according to the existing tax laws.
