DHS is at it again, and other stupidity…

Big Brother in the form of the Department of Homeland Security has a list of hot words where upon when they monitor emails will select yours for scrutiny.  But it took the Brits to gain the list.  Go HERE for the Daily Mail list… sigh

And how’s that texting working out for ya now???

And speaking of DHS/TSA…

May or may NOT be a joke… Sigh…

And then there’s THIS from PMSNBC.  Hayes video from his MSNBC show yesterday morning of the too-refined-by-half Hayes explaining why he is “uncomfortable” in calling America’s fallen military members “heroes.”

And I’ll leave you with a positive one…
This is what Military pilots see on final into Offutt AFB

A farmer does this with his tractor. He uses GPS to get the letters readable.

Hat tip to the Bellevue farmer who made it happen!

More Memorials…

Arlington Cemetery…

The Old Guard puts a flag on EVERY headstone in Arlington every Memorial Day.

This one is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia…

It’s small, in an out of the way location on the base, but they remember too…

Remember, 3 pm local time Monday, stop and say a little prayer for those who gave all.

Thank you…

NIne Minutes Worth Watching…

The first “commercial” spacecraft docks with the ISS…

This is good news, as we can now put our own payloads (albeit small ones) up and down from ISS.

Kudos to SpaceX and the Astronauts that assisted them…

Memorial Day…

This weekend marks the 41st observance of Memorial Day since it became an official federal holiday in 1971.  This patriotic tribute to fallen servicemen and women stems from the Civil War era, when communities gathered in the spring to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers.  It has gone by different names since its inception over a century ago, but the message remains the same – honor those that have died defending our country and most importantly, our freedom.

Please take a moment to remember all Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and others who have given their lives to ensure our Nation’s safety.  The National Moment of Remembrance encourages all Americans to pause wherever they are at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day for a minute of silence to remember and honor those who have died in service to the nation.

There is a good article in the Washington Times (HERE) that talks about the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory and the work it does…

And Monday will be the 25th Anniversary of Rolling Thunder, and the early estimate is 500,000 will be here for it (HERE).

Remember, some gave all…

Jarhead added this in comments…

Let me leave you with this:

Who are the Veterans?…”Veterans are Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters, Brothers, Sisters, Friends and Lovers. They are the elderly people who can barely stand but refuse to sit when old glory passes by. They are the people who sit quietly thinking of a plan when everyone else is panicking; the ones who stand up for somebody’s rights even though they may disagree with them. They are the ones who celebrate Memorial Day and Veterans Day everyday of the year. They are the people who keep going when everybody else gives up. They know the meaning of “The Ultimate Sacrifice” and are willing to make it without a second thought. They do not ask for praise or glory, only that you Honor those who have given their all.”

I miss ALL the "fun"…

Alternate title- That s**t don’t play in Peoria…

Well, it seems there was a ‘slight’ kerfluffle at the local buffet at lunch today, but I was late to the party… dammit…

I got there the same time the cops did, but the ‘reconstruct’ is as follows-

Folks that I work with occasionally (Four women and two guys, both retired Marines) are getting ready to go into the buffet, one of the ladies opens the door, another lady starts through, only to be shoved aside by “middle eastern” male #1. She turns around and slaps him, he draws back to hit her starts the punch, and one of the retired Marines promptly face plants him into the glass by the door (looks like broken nose).

“Middle eastern” male #2 apparently calls the women whores, which gets HIM slapped by another lady, he kicks at her, and gets face planted on the sidewalk by the other retired Marine. Lady #3 calls cops, at this point both perps are screaming at the Marines that they can’t be treated this way and will be sued, and drop into some Arabic language.

Another man comes up, apparently a linguist (I’m guessing Army reservist), and apparently said something to  “middle eastern” male #1, who then tries to spit on him, and the first Marine face plants him next to his buddy on the sidewalk.  Linguist says they are now calling the women whores in Arabic, which prompts woman #2 to kick  “middle eastern” male #2 where it hurts the most, and ask for a knife so she can geld him right there, right now.

Linguist translates that statement to “middle eastern” male #2, and he quiets down rather quickly.

Two police cars roll up about the same time I got there; one is a female officer who is also K-9, and  the men start claiming they were ‘attacked’ for no reason, yada, yada, yada…

Female officer is apparently senior, so she tells the other officer to ‘control’ the two “middle eastern” males; meanwhile she’s talking to the women as the Marines let the two “middle eastern” males up. When she asks them for ID, they refuse, so they get cuffed and stuffed.  Her comment to them was, “This is America, NOT where ever you come from; women are equals here!”

When she asks for witnesses, about 15 people apparently saw the whole thing, and she had to get folks to go sit in the buffet to fill out the paperwork.

After it was all said and done, the six FINALLY got in to eat, and the owner of the place comp’ed them for their lunches!  Good for them!

And yeah, both Marines were smiling! 🙂

Sigh…

I miss ALL the “fun” dammit…

Ye Gods, and little fishes…

This @#&*# administration is just plain screwed up…

They are walking security violations, but this is just flat ass over the top…

DUCT TAPE and BP Meds ALERT!!!

Bottom line excerpt:

Judicial Watch launched its investigation of Bigelow’s meetings with the Obama administration following press reports suggesting that the Obama administration may have leaked classified information to the director as source material for Bigelow’s film.

New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote that the information leak was designed to help the Obama 2012 presidential reelection campaign: “The White House is also counting on the Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal big-screen version of the killing of Bin Laden to counter Obama’s growing reputation as ineffectual. The Sony film by the Oscar-winning pair who made ‘The Hurt Locker’ will no doubt reflect the president’s cool, gutsy decision against shaky odds. Just as Obamaland was hoping, the movie is scheduled to open on Oct. 12, 2012 — perfectly timed to give a home-stretch boost to a campaign that has grown tougher.”

Judicial Watch has an article up HERE, well worth reading, along with the links included; but not until AFTER the duct tape and BP meds are applied…

Among other things, they apparently also gave out pics of the actual sand table used for the raid. I’m not EVEN going to discuss how many security violations are involved…

Even inside the military, little actual fact and NO debriefs of the raid have taken place outside secure facilities; and yet security, TTP and other things have been TOTALLY compromised by the administration by turning over not only information but actual participants to these movie makers so they can ‘get it right’…

These idjits are putting our folks LIVES on the line here, just to get re-elected.  And when the folks start dying, is the White House and administration going to accept the responsibility???  If it were one of my loved ones that died, I’d be suing individuals in the administration in civil suits as accessories to MURDER which is what it will be.

Please, PLEASE, DO NOT re-elect these assholes in November…

Remember, Re-Elect NONE

EDIT- And I missed THIS about the Paki doctor that the administration threw under the bus…

A Little Test…

Our Yearly Dementia Test

It’s that time of year for us to take our annual dementia test.
Exercise of the brain is as important as exercise of the muscles.

As we grow older, it’s important to keep mentally alert.

If you don’t use it, you lose it!

Below is a very private way to gauge how your memory

compares to the last test. Some may think it is too easy

but the ones with memory  problems may have difficulty.

Take the test presented here to determine if you’re losing it or not.
The spaces below are so you don’t see the answers until you’ve made your answer.  OK, relax, clear your mind and begin.

1. What do you put in a toaster?

Answer: ‘Bread’.  If you said ‘toast’, give up now and go do something else. Try not to hurt yourself.  If you said, bread, go to Question #2.

2. Say ‘silk’ five times.  Now spell ‘silk’. Question: What do cows drink?

Answer: Cows drink water. If you said ‘milk,’ don’t even attempt the next question. Your brain is over-stressed and may even overheat.  Content yourself with reading more appropriate literature such as Auto World.
However, if you said ‘water’, proceed to question #3.

3. If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house is made from blue bricks and a pink house is made from pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a green house made from?

Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass.  If you said ‘green bricks’, why are you still reading these???  If you said ‘glass’, go on to Question #4.

4. Without using a calculator – You are driving a bus from London to Milford Haven in Wales.  In London, 17 people get on the bus.  In Reading, 6 people get off the bus and 9people get on.  In Swindon, 2 people get off and 4 get on.  In Cardiff,  11 people get off and16 people get on.  In Swansea, 3 people get off and 5 people get on.  In Carmathen, 6people get off and 3 get on.
You then arrive at Milford Haven.

Without scrolling back to review, how old is the bus driver?

Answer: Oh, for crying out loud!  Don’t you remember your own age?

It was YOU driving the bus!!

Now that we’re all frustrated, go back to work! 🙂

Massholes…

The city of Gloucester has decided to drop the Vietnam memorial from their parade route this year… I ‘guess’ they just didn’t want to be bothered…  Article HERE

Of course this one lit up the mil-email list this morning…

Below is my text to the Mayor:
As a Vietnam Vet, Retired Naval Officer, father of an Iraq War Marine Vet and a member of the American Legion Post 177, I read with dismay your decision to eliminate the Gloucester, MA Vietnam Memorial from this year’s Memorial Day Parade.  You do a disservice to all those who served and the 58, 000 that died during that war.  More particularly, you discredit the ultimate sacrifice that 11 of your own citizens gave.  I find the excuse of having to include a “detour” an inadequate, at best, rationale for such a slight.
As a counterpoint to Gloucester, we are preparing to proudly host/support over 750,000 bikes/riders for the 2012 Rolling Thunder.  We do so with great pride and honor for all those who served regardless of any small inconvenience incurred.
Your actions are a reminder that there are still those who only embrace us when it in convenient or beneficial for political or social purposes.

Respectfully,
W. Cxxxx, LCDR USN (Ret)

City Drops Vietnam Memorial From Parade Route

GLOUCESTER, Mass-
…..  “The new parade route, with a mustering at Harbor Loop and main ceremonies at the World War II Memorial at Kent Circle, meant that to include a stop at the Vietnam Memorial would have required a detour either before or after the main ceremonies. The mayor cited the changed “route” in her explanation for the decision to no longer include the Vietnam Memorial ceremony in the official agenda for Memorial Day.” ……

If you care to  enlighten the Mayor on your appreciation of the decision:              Mayor’s Office: Contact Us

I already have!
Woody

I forwarded this to MY list too, and when I tried a couple of times today to call them, the phone was ‘busy’…

Once again Nam vets are getting the shitty end of the stick, but then again, I’m NOT really surprised… Especially not in Mass…

UPDATE: 1900L It appears ‘common sense’ made an impact, along with the bad press and emails/phonecalls… Posted a bit ago.  Thanks Anon!
