Meltdowns…

A twofer today…

First up- Formerly Great Britain…

The liberal parliament in the United Kingdom is on the brink of a collapse after a scandal involving mass rape perpetrated by migrant gangs rocked national politics across the pond.

Jess Phillips, the Home Office Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls and a Labour Party member, blocked an inquiry by the town of Oldham into Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s conduct while overseeing the prosecution of a migrant grooming gang’s sexual abuse of children in the town from 2011 to 2014, according to a Jan. 2 report from the Telegraph. The move prompted mass outcry and renewed attention to the UK’s ongoing crisis involving organized migrant grooming gangs, largely consisting of Pakistani nationals, stemming from waves of unchecked immigration.

Full article, HERE from Daily Caller.

Some of us have been following this debacle for years, but it took Elon Musk to rip the blanket off the coverup and it is now an international issue…

The real question is will Starmer manage to remain in charge? Personally, I doubt it. And good riddance as far as I’m concerned. I’m still steamed that this was allowed, AND the parents who complained were arrested on bogus charges when they complained YEARS ago. How many young females lives were ruined???

The ‘best guess’ is over 1000 young women were lured/coerced into participation. As I’ve said, the perps are lucky it is hard for Brits to get guns… Per LSP, not impossible, but hard…

The second story is the continuing devastation in/around LA due to wildfires…

This was two evenings ago- Around 3000 acres…

Last night, it had ‘blossomed’… to over 20000 acres…

It’s burned all the way to the Pacific, including south Malibu, and it is one mile from Santa Monica.

Part of the problem is lack of water, which falls on the Newsome administration (no reservoirs refilled), not enough firefighters locally, no water bombers on contract (it’s not ‘fire season’), and worst of all, no water in Pacific Palisades. They are not on the LA municipal system, instead relying on water tanks to provide water based on ‘standard private use’. When you start pulling water for fire trucks at 250 gallons per minute, that emptied those tanks quickly, leading to firetrucks that DID get up into the area not having water to pump.

I talked to a friend who lives out there, and she’s worried about her place in Santa Monica, and is packed up and ready to go. She said the LA government was ‘running around like a chicken with its head cut off’.

And this one is not over by a long shot! Prayers continue for those who are on the front lines of this battle, which is exactly what this is…

LA is burning…again…

A large, fast-moving and growing brush fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in Pacific Palisades, prompting mandatory evacuations affecting tens of thousands of people and highway closures, including people who abandoned their vehicles to flee on foot.

More than 13,000 buildings and 26,000 people are in the evacuation zone, which has been labeled “under immediate threat,” according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

As of 3:25 p.m., nearly 1,300 acres had burned, according to Cal Fire.

Full article HERE from Fox News.

As of 8pm last night, it was up to 3000 acres and 0% contained. Here was the ‘overview’ from CalFire.

The Pacific Coast Highway was closed, Malibu and a number of ‘high end’ housing areas are also under evacuation orders, and apparently a number of people ‘panicked’ and left their cars sitting in the middle of the road in the Palisades area, preventing fire vehicles from getting through… Sigh…

And if this goes further south and gets into Santa Monica, hoo boy… THAT will be ugly!

The winds are supposed to pick up overnight, so who knows what tomorrow will bring?

And they don’t know ‘what’ started the fire yet, and are pulling assets in as fast as they can to fight this fire, including the National Guard. Oh, and Xiden et al have already okayed $$$ to ‘help’ fight the fire.

Funny how that happens when the movers and shakers are threatened…

But this is also endemic of the issues in CA with the lack of cutting trees, undergrowth, etc. which just gives these fires more fuel and the canyons up there make it hard to damned near impossible to fight from the ground, leading to lots of water bomber use in VERY dangerous situations (trying to get down into the canyons with aircraft other than helicopters is problematic with the turbulence, tightness of the canyons, etc.

I feel sorry for those folks, and I pray for the firefighters and others putting their lives on the line out there.

I think this is going to drive even more insurers out of California when the huge claims from this one start coming in. What this may also do is force CA to do their own fire insurance statewide, which is going to be expensive for both the poor homeowners and the state, as inevitably, more of these fires are going to happen.

Could get interesting! A counter to The View???

Last month, actor and comedian Rob Schneider told Fox News that his new company, No Apologies Media, would be launching an all-female conservative talk show to counter ABC’s “The View.” However, he said it won’t be just like “The View.” It’ll actually be something people might want to watch.

“It will be the opposite because this will be entertaining. It’ll be funny. It’ll have funny women on it that are going to tell jokes and tell stories, and health and wellness,” Schneider said. He added that people are sick of politics and the shaming that comes along with it. “We’re going to have an entertaining show with people — from all over America. We’re not just trying to bring people who are angry and bitter and reinforcing their political echo chamber.”

Full article, HERE from PJ Media.

I saw ‘one’ episode years ago of the View because I was trapped in a doctor’s waiting room. Never again!!!

But I can’t help but wonder if this is yet more pushback against the left’s constant whining, denigrating the right, globull warming crap, etc.

I think this also might be a sea change in Hollyweird too! Folks that I knew out there that were conservatives had to hide their feelings if they wanted to work or keep working, as most of Hollyweird is and has always been very liberal to hard leftist!

I also wonder if the LA folks are losing control of the movies, etc, with more shows/movies/programs being filmed elsewhere due to California laws and the increased costs of doing business out there.

In any case, it will be nice to see an alternative program come to reality and I’m betting it will get a LOT better reviews than The View…

It’s probably a good thing…

The Brits can’t own guns. Especially with the reports finally coming out about the Pakis and others…

Just a few short months ago, members of the U.K.’s Labour Party were in America, campaigning for Kamala Harris. That sure felt like election interference to us, but Prime Minister Keir Starmer said it’s ‘totally normal’ for the Brits to meddle in our elections.

What’s not normal is all the horrific news coming out surrounding ‘grooming gangs’ in the U.K. — and how the government aided, abetted, and covered up for these gangs. The gangs were comprised of Pakistani men (and other nationalities), and their victims were often white British girls. Some as young as 12 or 13 years old. And it’s not fair to call them ‘grooming gangs’ — they raped, abused, and threatened their victims.

While authorities looked the other way as often as they could. Because they didn’t want to be seen as ‘racist.’

Now the Labour Party is blocking an investigation into the massive scandal, to protect the bad actors. Including Keir Starmer himself.

If something like that had been going on here, there would have bodies on the floor a LONG time ago.

As a father of two daughters, I cannot imagine the families of these girls NOT taking some kind of action, but I know the ‘culture’ over there and the fear of appearing to be racists/islamophobia has become a driver in the U.K. in the last 20 years.

Still, this is just beyond the pale, and I can only say a prayer for the girls and their families, and am glad that the major perps are at least getting long prison sentences…

Gah!!!

Fred Hughes has the second novel out in his Heroes of Britannia series- Hero’s Shadow

But like all things in life, simple orders don’t always mean simple solutions. Even before entering the home system of the devious race, Julie was forced to fight a pitched battle against the Zenkarr fleet.

The new War Leader doesn’t have enough firepower to defeat the Zenkarr Fleet… but neither can she pull her forces back to Earth, as Emperor Hazard’s commitments to other alien races in the region make that impossible.

To extract the empire from the situation while still defending its allies will force Julie to think outside the box, and she’ll need to use all her guile—and surprisingly, her diplomacy—to solve the problem. But most of all, Julie Adams will need to step out of her dead friend’s shadow and become a hero in her own right.

Last but not least, Pam Uphoff has a new Chronicles of the Fall out- The Black Cube
The blurb-

Hieronymus was just going to take a ride with a friend and wasn’t expecting his friend’s sisters to be a kidnapped . . . and he certainly wasn’t expecting the opportunity to be a hero.

As information about the abilities of unchipped Portal Clones spread, their usefulness for cross-dimensional crimes of the ordinary sort should have been anticipated . . . although how to stop them is difficult, if not impossible. But as a spunky thirteen-year-old works to escape, Hieronymus has a plan . . .

I can highly recommend all three, you’ll enjoy them!!!

Is it just me???

Or are the ‘announcers’ at both the college bowl level and NFL becoming more biased to openly cheering for one team rather than being non-partisan as announcers?

In watching the Peach Bowl yesterday, it was not obvious if you just listened to it that Texas was even IN the game, much less leading by 14 points. And at the end of the 4th quarter, one announcer said words to the effect that Arizona was ‘one stop from advancing’. When Texas scored, there was dead air for 20-30 seconds like they were stunned Texas tied the game, and won it in the second overtime.

In the NFL, I’ve noticed that Chris Collinsworth ‘likes’ to get in digs against certain teams. I’ve gotten to the point that I purposely turn the volume down and just ‘watch’ the game anymore (if I watch a game at all). And other are just as bad, or worse…

In other news, I hope everyone enjoyed their hangovers from NYE…LOL

Being a born and raised Southerner, I had the ‘traditional’ New Years Day meal. All believed to bring good luck and prosperity in the new year; the black-eyed peas symbolize coins, the greens represent money, and ham signifies good fortune in life. Of course you can’t have those without cornbread which signifies abundance of food…

What is your New Years traditional food?

Hic… Enjoy the day…

May 2025 be better for all of us!

Now go forth and screw up those checks…LOL

I’m not sure…

About this one…

Information warfare experts are increasingly in demand across the U.S. Navy, and in a move made this month, they’ll now be eligible for sea command.

Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro amended service regulations to create more command opportunities for information warfare officers. He released a message about the change this month.

Vice Adm. Mike Vernazza, the commander of Naval Information Forces, told DefenseScoop the change represented a “pivotal evolution in how the Navy views and employs IW capabilities across all domains of naval warfare” and meant that personnel steeped in information warfare are eligible for “command for sea.”

Full article, HERE from Navy Times.

I wonder what/how much training they will get before they ‘get’ command. I know aviators can command at sea, but they don’t get a carrier until they’ve been through a version of SWO school, commanded something smaller in the amphibious class ship, and even those are tours with a fully qualified XO who knows ships/ship handling.

I cannot imagine one of the dedicated IW types ‘taking command’ in an emergency, as none of their ‘specialty’ involves actual ship driving or aviation.

But I ‘can’ imagine some of them ‘thinking’ they can… Much like lawyers and doctors that think they are expert pilots because of ‘who’ they are. And manage to kill themselves and others on a pretty regular basis when their alligator ego overrules their peanut skills.

I will be interested to see if/how much pushback there is to this from the actual line officers who ARE in the command pipeline…
