Tis the season…

And a throw away comment got us chatting about the ‘old days’…

And Christmas stockings. That was one thing we all agreed on was that we ‘got’ a Christmas stocking. Some were personalized, filled with a variety of things, and CANDY!

Some of us got these…

Now if you are OLD, they always had fruit and nuts, with maybe a peppermint stick or two. If you wonder why, it was because things like oranges, apples, and even pears weren’t always available in the stores in the late 50s early 60s.

One of the guys said he actually found some for sale, but all they had was candy and some funky toys, and they were EXPENSIVE!

Another was bemoaning the fact that his wife insisted on getting the fancy embroidered ones for all the grandkids, and he was going broke between the cost of the stocking and trying to find ‘stuff’ to fill them with, since Granny was picky on what she gave the kids…LOL

What do you remember as a child?

OBTW, ‘I’ never got an embroidered one, but I do remember maybe 5th grade we made our own out of felt and used glue and glitter to put our names on them…

Sigh…

I know I’ve been preaching to the ‘choir’ about this already…

The U.S. Navy has wasted $1.84 billion since 2015 on rehabilitating its Ticonderoga class guided-missile cruisers, funds the service would rather have spent on newer technology, according to a government watchdog report.

The Government Accountability Office released its “Navy Ship Modernization” report Monday, noting that the Navy’s cruiser rehab program has had “weak oversight” and been “plagued with problems like scheduled delays, wasted costs and poor-quality work.”

Full article, HERE, from Navy Times (which is NOT friendly to the Navy, by the way).

The ‘short’ answers are Congress and Congress. The push/pull on budgeting and ‘games’ with who/where the upgrades were to be done have yanked ships and crews all over the place, in addition to some of the units going ‘cold iron’ for over a year.

Additionally, there are ‘periodic’ upgrades to systems that occur on an every other year basis, both to software and hardware onboard the ships. Sooooo, the ‘contract’ might say something like ACB 7, when the fact is there are two more iterations of that build, and one or two or three iterations of hardware also.

Which means the contractor has to go back and get a contract mod, get new funding, retrain workers, etc.

To ‘my’ knowledge, we do not have a single class of ships that all have the same systems and hardware aboard! That is how screwed up this mess is, in addition to the lengths of time (scheduled 2 years, taking 4 years) in the yards.

That pushes the next ships further out, lather, rinse, repeat…

But the Fleet is supposed to meet ALL of its commitments worldwide, plus exercises, plus training commitments, etc. because those are ‘mandated’ by on high.

Grrr…

Really???

This…is so ‘out there’ it’s laughable…

Massachusetts being Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren (D-Cherokee Nation) is still in the Senate, and while she maintained a relatively low profile during the presidential campaign, she is now sending up new smoke signals. After years of turning a blind eye to the massive corruption of the Biden crime family, to say nothing of the Clintons and other leftists, Warren has suddenly discovered that public servants shouldn’t enrich themselves at the public trough, and she’s demanding action. The only problem is, as you may already have suspected, she is demanding it of all the wrong people.

The intrepid former Native American has decided to use insinuations of a conflict of interest as a rhetorical weapon against Donald Trump and Elon Musk. When, however, Warren sent out her shot across the Trump camp’s bow, she didn’t get the defensiveness, apologies, and resignations that leftists have come to expect from supine uniparty Republicans. Quite the contrary, in fact.

Warren asserted in a snippy letter to the Trump transition team that “putting Mr. Musk in a position to influence billions of dollars of government contracts and regulatory enforcement without a stringent conflict of interest agreement in place is an invitation for corruption on a scale not seen in our lifetimes.”

Especially with this coming from Warren of all people.

One has to have been blind to what the Dems and Pubs have been doing for…years… Go to Congress poor, retire rich…

Sadly, one of the last few survivors of Pearl Harbor has passed away…

With his death, I ‘believe’ there are around fifteen actual survivors left.

Snort…

USPS at its ‘finest’???

“The Postal Service Electric Truck: A Comedy in Two Acts” is not the name of an off-broadway musical. But if someone writes it, I want royalties.

The story is a familiar one when discussing the efficacy (or lack thereof) of EVs. Joe Biden, bless his departing soul, thought that the United States Postal Service should set an example for Americans by using electric trucks to move the mail around. He and the Democrats stuffed $3 billion into the farcically misnamed Inflation Reduction Act as a down payment to force the postal service to purchase 60,000 electric postal trucks at an eventual cost of $10 billion.

What happened next was worthy of Buster Keaton or the Keystone Kops.

Defense contractor Oshkosh got the contract and not only proceeded to screw it up but also kept the bad news from the Postal Service brass for more than a year.

Full article, HERE from PJ Media.

Soooo, 3 billion has got 93 trucks delivered… That’s a ‘tad’ expensive…

Like new fighter expensive…

And they are building ONE a day, not the 80 they were supposed to be doing. Seems to oh, a ‘bit’ of a problem here, or is it just me?

We know EVs are a failure in rural areas, extreme cold, etc. but USPS is supposed to use these things in ALL climates and locations.

Something tells me our mail is going to be even slower being delivered than it is now…

No Intarwebz…

Posting this from my iPhone.

Go read the folks on the sidebar. Hopefully, I’ll be back tomorrow.

Do it!!!

This will set the cat among the pigeons…

Days after his acquittal in the chokehold death of Jordan Neely, lawyers for Marine veteran Daniel Penny are floating the possibility of a malicious prosecution lawsuit against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who secured an indictment against their client days after police let him go, then failed to convince a jury he committed a crime.

Penny, 26, was on his way to the gym after class when Neely, 30, barged onto a subway car and started threatening to kill passengers. Penny grabbed him in a headlock and held him as other riders called 911. By the time police arrived, about seven minutes later, Neely had lost consciousness. He never woke up.

“It’s not necessarily even about breaking the law,” attorney Steven Raiser told “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday morning. “It’s blurring ethical boundaries and failing to act in the manner in which you are expected, because of your office.”

Full article, HERE from Fox News.

It’s about time somebody took these idiots to task for their BS politics and political ‘statements’…

I would sure as hell contribute to a GoFundMe for that lawsuit! The previous one for his defense raised right at $3000000, and he might have a little left over after that one got him acquitted.

NYC and other ‘blue’ cities/states have tromped all over the little folks rights for a long time, and it should come to an end! Maybe this will be part of the fallout from the election too!!!

One hopes!
