Another win…

For Gibson’s Bakery in their ongoing battle with Oberlin College!

HERE is the wiki on it, if you didn’t follow it back in the day.

Ohio‘s Supreme Court will not hear an appeal of a $25 million judgment against Oberlin College in a lawsuit brought by owners of Gibson’s Bakery, who claimed they were libeled and wrongly accused of being racist by the school after a shoplifting incident.

Full article, HERE from the Washington Examiner.

Oberlin has been losing at every step, but they’ve drug this out for six years, and the two main plaintiffs have both passed away, but at least they saw the original verdict!

But Oberlin, by not paying, has accrued over $4 million in interest owed to the Gibsons, in addition to $6.5 million in the Gibson’s legal fees.

Also, Legal Insurrection has followed this case from the start, and you can search back to read the whole sordid story there.

You’d think at some point that Oberlin would stop digging and just pay up!!!

Sneelah of the Snows, Lady of the Ice

When long-forbidden magic is brought back to light and used for ill purposes, both men and their deities must work together for the good of the Northern Empire. Two men and their patrons, strong in power and stronger in will. Who will be master of the northern lands?

The blurb-

“Knights had no meaning in this game. It wasn’t a game for knights.” —Raymond Chandler

In a world of criminals, thugs, con artists, cheats, and swindlers, there must be a man to stand against the powers of darkness and corruption. A man not afraid to walk the mean streets—whether they be those of 1930s Los Angeles, an ancient fantasy realm, or some far-flung planet of a future star empire. He is a man who knows that a “good man” is not always a “nice guy.” But when the chips are down, he understands that a hero does the right thing, even if it means losing everything.

He is all these men and more.

Now, join Larry Correia and Kacey Ezell as they present all-new stories of fantasy and science fiction with a hardboiled detective bent by today’s top authors.

And last but certainly not least- Peter Nealan’s The Lost Series the last book (#5) in the series will drop in October, and is up for preorder now!

The blurb-

From Book 1: Swift. Silent. Deadly… Hunted.

Recon Marine Conor McCall didn’t expect action during his training op in the icy waters off Norway. But when a bizarre summer fog engulfed his boat, he and his team found themselves in a pitched fight against strange, cruel monsters emerging from the coastal depths of the North Sea.

That was just the beginning.

Stranded in a barren land of mountains, glaciers, and black pines, far from home and unable to contact the world they came from, the Marines must prepare for war against murderous barbarians, wicked sorcerers, and foul creatures summoned from the oldest, deepest, and darkest pits of hell.

When even their allies are enemies, the Recon Marines must do what they have always done: adapt or die. But with a world of ice and monsters seeking to destroy them, every second is mission-critical.

It’s a damned good read and blends various wargame worlds into a coherent series of actions, interactions, and battle scenes!

Wow…

A followup to yesterday’s post…

This pic says it all about what was ‘really’ being said.

If this doesn’t look like something straight out of a bad movie, I don’t know what does… And still pissed about the Marines being used as ‘props’ in the background.

Leni Riefenstahl couldn’t have done it better! And a LOT of the memes have the quotes “It sounded better in the original German.”

And then there was our ‘favorite’ WAPO reporter chiming in…

Edit- Thanks to Tam, this post was faked… Grrr…

And the ‘walking back’ going on today looks like a bunch of crawfish trying to get back in their holes and throwing up as much mud (obfuscation) as they can.

But, I listened to it, and my takeaway was that if you’re not a Dem and support the left, you’re a ‘threat’ to the US. Especially if you’re a Pub, then you’re a MAGA fascist!

This is the last post I’m going to make on this, to try to keep my BP under control… sigh

Really???

Joe Xiden went there last night… In Philly, in front of Independence Hall.

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens are very Republic,” said Biden, in a rare moment of calling out his predecessor by his name. “MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution.”

What I really have a problem with, is the fact that there were US Marines prominent in the background of the video of this ‘political’ speech. Not only the ‘guards’ behind him, but the Marine Band! This is no bueno, one of the things we were always told/taught that active duty military were NOT EVER to be at anything political in uniform. I believe that this contravenes a whole bunch of rules. But it is apparent that Austin and Milley won’t stand up to the White House on something like this…
Grrr…
Unity my ass. The true nature of the Dems is coming out because they are worried about losing power in November. This speech was an ‘enemies of the state’ speech, IMHO.
Is Xiden turning into a dictator? The raid on Mar-a-Lago was overtly political in nature, because the left is doing everything they can to make sure Trump is not able to run in 2024. This speech tonight was obviously a rallying cry to the left, but the question is, what is their next steps?
Baby formula is still thin on the ground, gas is still way up, inflation is hovering at 9%, railroaders are talking about a massive nationwide strike, the border is wide open, California is melting (they had to put out an emergency order for EV owners to not charge their vehicles between 5-9 pm due to a lack of electric power, etc. etc. etc…
All of those problems are being ‘ignored’ by the MSM, who are obviously complicit in their desire to keep the left in power and money flowing to their coffers.
I don’t know about…well, actually I do… A lot of us swore an oath in our past.
I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
And none of us think it has an expiration date…

This anthology is a benefit anthology for the Tom Burnett Memorial Library in Iowa Park, Texas.

Join 23 authors as they explore haunts from the past, the future, and the dead.

Come on folks, this is for a good cause! And some damned good stories in them too!!!
Lastly, I’d like to thank those who’ve picked up Ranching in Colorado! I appreciate the honest reviews too!  And if you DO see a problem with typos or formatting issues, please send me an email so I can fix those! Regardless of how many people review a book, things always slip through.
I will also note there is quite a bit of ‘dialect’ in this one, so some of the ‘typos’ are purposeful misspellings to indicate dialect use.

Those pesky facts…

About EVs and they actual burdens…

Links to the studies mentioned are live in the below items.

For example, as the experts at powerthefuture.com point out, here are 10 facts about EVs the Left doesn’t want Americans to know:

1. EVs are powered by fossil fuels. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), fossil fuel-based power plants — coal, oil, or natural gas — create about 60% of the nation’s electrical grid, while nuclear power accounts for nearly 20%.

2. The batteries of EVs rely on cobalt. An estimated 70% of the global supply of cobalt emanates from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a country with deplorable working conditions, especially for children.

4. Supporters of the California law admit there will be a 40% increase in demand for electricity, adding further strain to the grid and requiring increased costs for power and infrastructure.

5. According to one researcher, the strain of adding an EV is similar to adding “1 or 2 air conditioners” to your home, except an EV requires power year-round.

6. Today, 20 million American families, or one in six, have fallen behind on their electric bills, the highest amount ever.

7. Utility companies will need to add $5,800 in upgrades for every new EV for the next eight years in order to compensate for the demand for power. All customers will shoulder this cost.

8. The average price for an electric vehicle is currently $66,000, up more than 13% in just the last year, costing an average of $18,000 more than the average combustible engine. Meanwhile, the median household income is $67,521. For African American families, the average is $45,870, and for Hispanic households, $55,321.

9. A 2022 study found that the majority of EV charging occurs at home, leaving those who live in multi-family dwellings (apartments) at a real disadvantage for charging.

10. The same study also noted that many drivers charge their EVs overnight when solar power is less available on the grid.

I’ve posted about this mess before, and it will be an even bigger mess as more and more of the EVs come on line in subdivisions that don’t have enough power coming into their subdivisions to actually charge them AND power the homes…

I never said…

Any of my kids had any sense… LOL

My grandson is in the process, at age 7, of building a racing go kart.

Granted, he’s being ‘directed’ by his daddy and uncle (both of who are excellent mechanics), and his uncle races karts and Legend cars. But his mother sent me a text yesterday grumbling about him coming home talking about steering boxes, axles, and working on brakes by himself.

I can see it now, in two years, my granddaughter is gonna want to build one, too… sigh…

I didn’t start working on cars until I was ten, with my grandfather. But that was on actual cars. We didn’t have racing go karts back then, probably much to my mother’s relief… LOL

Really???

Talk about out and out attacks on the Pubs…

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Friday defended President Joe Biden’s remarks comparing Republican ideology to “semi-fascism.”

Full article, HERE.

And Hochul in NY wants all Pubs to LEAVE NY!

There are 2,848,894 registered Republicans in New York state, and 3,251,997 New Yorkers voted for Donald Trump for president in 2020 — and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-Planned Parenthood) is not happy. What are all these dissidents from Acceptable Opinions doing in her state? She made it clear Monday that they’ve got to get out, and pronto.

Full article, HERE.

Desperation, frustration, I don’t know, but I can’t remember a time in my life when the attacks have been so blatant on a political group in the US, much less a major party. The partisanship is getting worse day by day.

I don’t know where this is going to end, especially with some of the things coming out in the media (sometimes) about other things that were done by DOJ, the FBI, etc. Like the FBI telling Zuckerberg to NOT allow coverage of the Hunter Biden story on FB…

The day after Mark Zuckerberg said that Facebook limited a polarizing story ahead of the 2020 election because of an FBI warning, the federal agency said it can only alert a private entity of a potential threat, not require it to take action.

Full article, HERE, and of course the FBI is saying they didn’t mean it THAT way…

Sigh… Is it November the 8th yet???

My second novel in the Bell Chronicles series, Ranching in Colorado is up!

Click on the cover for the Amazon link!

The blurb-

Back in Texas he might be The Rio Kid, but at the other end of a long cattle drive in Fort Collins, Rio Bell is now struggling through his first year as a Colorado rancher. With his new wife, old hands, and a few mountain men, he’s learning fast as they deal with winter weather and stubborn cattle.

The killing cold and deep snows bring all new challenges to calving and just getting in supplies, but tempers can run hot as ever. Not everybody wants to see him succeed… or even survive.

They’re about to learn he’s no greenhorn when it comes to taking care of business, regardless of what that particular business may be.

The paperback dropped this morning, which is amazingly quick! Thanks to all the usual suspects for the alpha and beta reads, Tina for the cover, and Steph for the editing!
