The blurb-

THRILLING SCIENCE FICTION ADVENTURE FROM BEST-SELLING AUTHORS LARRY CORREIA AND JOHN BROWN

The Heart of a Warrior

Once, Jackson Rook was a war hero. Raised from boyhood to pilot an exosuit mech, he’d fought gallantly for the rebellion against the Collectivists. But that was a long time ago, on a world very far away.

Now, Jackson Rook is a criminal, a smuggler on board the Multipurpose Supply Vehicle Tar Heel. His latest mission: steal a top-of-the-line mech called the Citadel and deliver it to the far-flung planet Swindle, a world so hostile even the air will kill you. The client: a man known only as the Warlord. Rook has been in the smuggling business long enough to know that it’s best to take the money and not ask questions. But Rook cannot stand by and watch as the Warlord runs roughshod over the citizens of Swindle, the way the Collectivists did on his homeworld. For all his mercenary ways, Rook is not a pirate. And deep within the smuggler, the heart of a warrior still beats.

Next up is Ben English’s first book in the new Templer family series- The Uvalde Raider

The blurb-

The time is the eve of the First Gulf War. The place is an abandoned World War II emergency landing strip for heavy bombers, nestled amid the near countless miles upon miles of wide openness in West Texas. Here another climatic battle will be fought, while the rest of the world focuses on what would become known as Operation Desert Storm. But in some ways, the stakes are even higher as men from other places and past conflicts gamble all that they are, and all they ever were, to prevent a catastrophic terrorist attack unthinkable before on an American city. The key to either side’s success or failure? One old Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, an enduring symbol from another war and ensuing catastrophe of a different era. This relic of a not so distant past is named ‘The Uvalde Raider,’ and this is its story…

Ben does a great job with this one, and the flying scenes are accurate!

Last but not least, an anthology- Starflight: Tales From The Starport Lounge

The blurb-

Seventeen incredible authors. Seventeen amazing stories. One fantastic sci-fi universe, where the only limit is one’s imagination. Welcome to Starflight.

Based on the exploration-based Starflight video game series created by Greg Johnson and the Binary Systems team, the stories in Tales From the Starport Lounge flesh out and shine a light into the darkest corners of the known universe. Join the last vestiges of Humanity and their alien allies (the reptilian Thrynn, the insectoid Velox, and the plant-based Elowan) as they attempt to carve out their own territory in a sector of space filled with wondrous opportunity and deadly threats. Brave explorers seek out new worlds to colonize while merchants cruise from starport to starport, their holds laden with exotic goods.

Not all in this futuristic setting have noble intent. For every prospector and trader attempting to make a difference, a dozen pirates, smugglers, and mobsters engage in all manner of criminal enterprise. Gangs fill the underbellies of every major city and raid the trade routes between the stars, pushing the outnumbered and outgunned Interstel Police to their limit and forcing civilians to take matters into their own hands. It’s a rough and tumble universe, where one wrong move could spell doom for an expedition, or grant enough wealth to buy a planet.

Board your ship and set course for stars unknown! The universe awaits.

YGTBSM!!!

Xiden yesterday to the G7- “During a meeting this morning with the G-7 leaders, the president conveyed that our mission in Kabul will end based on the achievement of our objectives,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in an afternoon news briefing. “He confirmed we are currently on pace to finish by Aug. 31 and provided an update on progress in evacuating Americans who want to come home, third-country nationals, and Afghans who were our allies during the war.”

Full article, HERE.

It appears that the ONLY people to be evacuated in the next six days are US passport holders and SIV, nobody else, according to one report from State… WTF???

Meanwhile- the Veep was saying this- After fleeing to Singapore to let Joe Biden handle the criticism for the situation in Afghanistan, Kamala Harris bizarrely described the widely panned botched withdrawal from Afghanistan as ” a successful drawdown” of the embassy.

“There’s no question there will be and should be a robust analysis of what has happened, but right now there’s no question that our focus has to be on evacuating American citizens, Afghans who worked with us and vulnerable Afghans, including women and children,” Harris said.

Full article, HERE.

While the reality is that nobody seems to know how many Americans have actually been taken out, OR how many are left… And they punched the first load of military out yesterday…

And neither Baghdad Bob Kirby or Raggedy Ann Psaki will actually answer a damn question…

So fed up with this mess, the administration, and DOD. This is an embarrassment to every veteran who served, the USA as a whole, and has driven a wedge between us and our closest allies.

The blood of the STRANDED Americans and Afghan supporters will be on Biden, Harris, Austin, and Milley’s hands.

At least the retired folks, analysts, and ‘others’ are doing what they can to get people out any way, and anywhere they can! AND apparently having to fight with State if, big IF, they can get through the perimeter to the airport. Indications are State is not processing anybody that does not have ALL their paperwork…

And living conditions are in the toilet, literally, at the airport. Water/sewer are apparently out, food and water are running out, etc. Of course it’s only going to get worse when the Taliban/Al Qaeda/Haqqani kill all of those that ‘could’ run the power plants, water plants, etc. And their only income will be from smuggling, sales of $87B of military equipment, and ransoms on those they will be holding (see Tehran 1979)…

Funnies…

These came across the transom from the mil email net…

And ‘somebody’ has been locked down WAY too long…

Everyone PLEASE be careful because people are going crazy from being locked down at  home!

I was just talking about this with the microwave and the toaster while drinking my Pepsi, and we  all agreed that things are getting bad.

I didn’t mention any of this to the washing machine because she puts a different spin on EVERYTHING!! Certainly couldn’t share with the fridge, cause he’s been acting cold and distant! ln the end, the iron straightened me out! She said the situation isn’t all that pressing and all the wrinkles will soon get ironed out!

The vacuum, however, was very unsympathetic … told me to just suck it up! But the fan was VERY optimistic and gave me hope that it will all blow over soon!

The toilet looked a bit flushed but didn’t say anything when I asked its opinion, but the front door said I was becoming unhinged, and the doorknob told me to get a grip!! You can just about guess what the curtains told me: they told me to pull myself together!”

We will survive!!

Well…

We’re now a week into the flustercluck that is Kabul…

Ramirez nailed it, as always…

Still no idea how many Americans have actually gotten out, there are reports that Americans are being beaten, Afghani supporters being shot, and the embassy issued ‘warnings’ to Americans to NOT come to the airport. But according to Xiden, “Nothing is wrong, everything is on track.”

Just for reference, in two days August 29-30, 1975, the US Marines and Air America pulled over 7000 people out of the embassy in Saigon with NO loss of life, and made numerous pickups out in town, including the infamous picture of the Huey on the rooftop of a secondary pickup site.

Meanwhile…

Fed up, disappointed, angry, (and I’m being polite)…

It is also absolutely ABSURD to not be coordinating with other boots on the ground in Kabul including the Brits, Germans, Poles, French, and others. Is Xiden really that stupid, or is this Austin’s or Milley’s doing???

Enough…

With the Debbie Downer crap… What will be, will be. Ain’t a damn thing we can do about it until next year…

So…

Southern Ladies

Two ladies happened to start up a conversation during an endless wait in the LAX airport.

The first lady was an arrogant California woman married to a wealthy man.

The second was a well mannered elderly woman from the South.

When the conversation centered on whether they had any children, the California woman started by saying, “When my first child was born, my husband built a beautiful mansion for me.”

The lady from the South commented, “Well, isn’t that precious?”

The first woman continued, “When my second child was born, my husband bought me a beautiful Mercedes-Benz.

Again, the lady from the South commented, “Well, isn’t that precious?”

The first woman continued boasting, “Then, when my third child was born, my husband bought me this exquisite diamond bracelet.

Yet again, the Southern lady commented, “Well, isn’t that precious?”

The first woman then asked her companion, “What did your husband buy for you when you had your first child?”

“My husband sent me to charm school,” declared the Southern lady.

“Charm school?” the first woman cried, “Oh, my God! What on earth for?”

The Southern lady responded, “Well for example, instead of saying “Who gives a s**t?” I learned to say, “Well, isn’t that precious?”

A man owned a small ranch near San Antonio . The Texas labour Department

got a tip that he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an
investigator out to interview him.

“I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them,” demanded
the investigator.

“Well,” replied the rancher, “there’s my ranch hand who’s been with me
for 3 years. I pay him $1200 a week plus free room and board.

“The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $1000 per week plus
free room and board.

“Then there’s the half-wit. He works about 18 hours every day and does
about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board.

But, I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night, and he also sleeps
with my wife occasionally.”

“That’s the guy I want to talk to … the half-wit,” says the investigator.

“That would be me,” replied the rancher.

Gah…

Austin and Milley finally stuck their heads out in a joint presser.

Austin flatly stated there is NO plan to send forces out to retrieve people. He obfuscated and hemmed and hawed, about ‘coordination’ with unspecified people.

Milley refused to answer, saying he was not going to divulge operational plans.

When pushed, he added “That is a State Department function. We have a ‘capability’ and will execute however directed.”

Austin then muddied the waters by saying there was no capability to go collect ‘large numbers’ (undefined) of people.

Meanwhile, the Brit SAS folks are going out in town and ‘collecting’ their folks…

Austin was then pushed on his answer and said, “That is a State Department function. We will ‘facilitate’ the entry points 24/7.”

When asked about the missing weapons, neither would own up to that either, or the issue of closing Bagram before the civilians were evacuated!

And more interesting, when asked then pressed about the ‘timeline’ of failure, neither would say anything about what the ‘military’ thought.

Milley said, “There was nothing, that I or anybody else saw that indicated a collapse of this army and this government in 11 days,” Bulls**t! They had the Lead Inspector General report on Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (OFS) in hand, and it spelled things out!!!

Talk about dereliction of duty, and leaving US citizens and others in the lurch! Damn… They should resign IF they had any honor… but they don’t…

And what did Xiden do yesterday? Snuck in, gave a presser on the WuFlu update, and bolted again without answering a single question! HE should also resign, if he had an ounce of honor, but we know he doesn’t…

Well, well, well…

Funny how the CYA is in FULL force today…

This Lead Inspector General (Lead IG) report on Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (OFS) summarizes historical oversight activities from April 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021, and provides background about events leading up to recent, significant and fast moving developments in Afghanistan. Future Lead IG quarterly reports will further highlight these and other developments in Afghanistan.

Complete report HERE, .pdf at the bottom of the page.

Note that it was released publically yesterday… Strange, that…

And in other news, now we know where those 5 Taliban that Obummer traded for Bergdahl went… They showed up in Kabul as the ‘leaders’ of the Taliban, and apparently one of them was the ‘negotiator’ that US officials were speaking with in Switzerland!

This is just getting weirder and weirder… It’s almost to the point that I’m beginning to wonder if this was malicious incompetence on the administration, State, and DOD’s part!

Oh, and last but not least, apparently DOD has absolutely NO idea how much ‘stuff’ the Taliban now has in the way of weapons, technology, etc! Unfrikkenbelievable!!!

And Baghdad Bob Kirby had this exchange on getting the US people out-

“From a military perspective our focus is at the airport,” Kirby said. “Right now though I don’t want to set the expectation that we are equipped and able to go out into the countryside and physically move people into Kabul. Our focus right now, the troops that we have there, are at the airport. The idea is that we can get the air operations, not only have they resumed, but to keep them in place for as long as possible.”

Berman then pointed out the obvious: “If they can’t get to the airport what does it matter if you have the capabilities to get them out from the airport?”

Kirby had no answer for Berman—only acknowledging the security situation is “not ideal.”

Full article, HERE.

Grrr…

Taliban and al Qaeda are declaring victory over the US, as expected. And it’s playing well with their minions around the world…
Kabul airport was closed most of yesterday due to being overrun… People have been shot, and according to reports one or two have fallen from C-17s as they took off. Photos indicate the Afghans are doing their usual, pushing women and children to the front, Marines order them to stop, they squat, and the men break around them and penetrate the perimeter. That tells me the ROE is VERY restrictive…
Depending on whom you believe, as few as 100 Americans or up to 400 have been flown out. No indication that anyone has gone into town to recover those who were told to shelter in place, and apparently no attempt to bring out any of the Afghans that worked for the embassy, especially the females. Taliban are, according to boots on the ground, going door to door looking for those interpreters/embassy workers.
Oh, and the Russian and Chinese embassies? Open with NO issues. What a surprise!
Biden, Harris, Blinken, Austin, Milly, this blood will be on YOUR hands. You had 7 months to plan and coordinate a SAFE withdrawal… Shows how much you care about your people and our military…
All I can do is to say a prayer for those who are being left behind. Hopefully your death will be quick and you won’t be raped…

Xiden gave a ‘defensive’ press conference yesterday afternoon, trotted out the old saw from Harry Truman of the “Buck Stops Here”, but only after he blamed everybody and everything including Trump and his ‘rushed’ plan that had ‘boxed him in’… That was in addition to lying mis-speaking about facts (as usual)…

He then went on to say that the US ‘would’ strike at terrorists “over the horizon”… whatever that means, since we’ll have NO assets to actually track al Qaeda that are active in at least 10 provinces in Afghanistan TODAY!

Article HERE, HERE, and HERE.

And did you see the DOD presser? When asked, they have NO idea where the weapons, etc. are… And no plan to go get the people that are ‘sheltering in place’… Oh, and apparently lied about how many troops were there last week, saying they were ‘just today’ at 2500 troops on the ground…

And Baghdad Bob Kirby did his usual song and dance that the Pentagon WAS NOT at fault…  Article HERE.  Yeah, right…

And in the true irony of ironies…

So we got Saigon 1975, except with a the same BUNO 154038 Phrog, even though they put a new N number on it, and flown out of the compound rather than off the roof. And as one vet said, “No jungle this time!”

So… What is going to happen on 9/11 THIS year???
