Clarification…

Veterans, make sure you check this out BEFORE you hit 65!!!

Tricare for Life (TFL) vs. Medicare Part D.

You may already have TRICARE For Life (TFL). Or perhaps you’re eligible to transition to this coverage soon. Either way, you may have questions about your TRICARE prescription drug coverage. For instance, you may wonder if you need to have Medicare Part D, Medicare’s prescription coverage. You don’t need Medicare Part D to have TFL.

This has always been a confusing issue, and way too many don’t know what their rights/benefits actually are. Take a couple of minutes to read the associated article and if you know any vets, point them to this!

Thanks in advance for your assistance!!!

Training women in Detroit!!!

Our friend Rick Ector and NRA instructor from Legally Armed In Detroit (LAID) is doing their free class for women again this weekend July 29th and 30th!

Rick has been doing this for over 10 years, and it grows each year!

Here are the details!

The ladies FREE shooting event will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, and Sunday, July 30, 2023, at both the Top Gun Shooting Sports (22050 Pennsylvania Road in Taylor, Michigan) and Recoil Firearms (22509 Ecorse Road in Taylor, Michigan).

There will be no charge for the Firearm Instructor’s safety briefing, the usage of a firearm, ammunition, and range time. Participation is 100 percent free for all attendees. No prior firearms training or experience is required of the women who desire to take advantage of the lesson. Further, experienced women merely desiring to improve their marksmanship skills are also welcome to attend.

Go HERE to register for the course, and if you have friends up there, you might let them know!

Thank you and the other instructors for stepping up once again, and kudos to you Rick for coming up with the idea and following through! This is the kind of ‘gun control’ we need!

What if???

An interesting proposal that I’ve seen before, and happen to agree with…

Highway 0
(Zero Illegal Crossings)

How to improve southwest border security effectiveness through efficiency.

Simply put, build a highway along as much of the southwest border from Brownsville TX to San Diego CA as feasible. Use the specifications from the Eisenhower Federal Interstate Highway System and include a concrete sound barrier wherever a “wall” is required on the southern side. Use the four border states to manage the construction as they would any Interstate Highway project with the funding being provided through the Federal Highway Administration. The states also provide the O&M after the highway is placed in service.

Proposal outcomes:
Uses existing capabilities and experienced workforce to create and maintain the physical
infrastructure needed to improve southwest border security and provides states with jobs.
State highway depts already know how to get permitting, construction, etc done.
Average cost per mile should be 30%-50% less than the cost for an ACOE/CBP steel wall/fence.
Other infrastructure such as cell towers and traffic cameras come along with the highway thus giving CBP access to capability as needed. CBP selects, places & operates sensors!
Faster creation of priority infrastructure vs ACOE/CBP run infrastructure projects and reduces overall risk of accomplishment.
Allows CBP to focus on core mission as the guardians of the border-preventing terrorists from entering the country, reducing human & drug trafficking and apprehending illegals.
Potential economic improvement for rural areas along the border.
Politically neutral as it builds multi-purpose infrastructure and improves security simultaneously. More effective & efficient results for the taxpayer dollars.

What is even more interesting is that you cannot web search and find this anywhere!

Sigh…

Why does this NOT surprise me???

We’ve sure as hell outsourced everything else… Grrrr…

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), the world’s largest chipmaker, will delay production at its new Arizona chip plant to 2025 due to a shortage of skilled labor.

The year-long delay comes as trade relations between Washington and Beijing, have deteriorated over the past several years.

TSMC Chairman Mark Liu broke the news to investors on a second-quarter earnings call on July 21.

Mr. Liu said that the company does not have enough skilled local workers to install advanced equipment at its new facility, in time for the official deadline.

And frankly, I find it ‘funny’ that the union is bitching, considering they don’t have any qualified personnel to DO the installations…

The blurb-

Chloe Mendoza and her team from Monster Hunter International must seek out and destroy an ancient evil threatening Los Angeles at the height of Disco Fever.

Los Angeles: the 1970s.

Disco is king and the nightclubs are full of young, beautiful people with Saturday night fever. From the Sunset Strip to Hollywood Boulevard, a new era is dawning. But below the glitz and glamour, a darkness lurks.

Chloe Mendoza knows darkness. She is a nagualii, a half-demon created by the gods of Central and South America, a daughter of the Court of Feathers, a group of demigods who ruled Mesoamerica before the Spanish arrived.

Now, she is a member of Monster Hunter International’s latest team, based in the L.A. Basin. Business is good in the City of Angels, but soon Chloe gets a message from the Court of Feathers, warning her of a Dark Master who is building up its power in the region. Whatever it is, it brings death and carnage with it.

Time to boogie.

Enjoy your week, folks! Stay safe and if you’re in the Southwest, stay cool and hydrate!!!

Buyer beware!!!

The old saying “buyer beware” has now been extended to the Internet age. There has been an epidemic of scams proliferating the World Wide Web, and the firearms community is not immune from criminals trying to separate people from their hard-earned dollars.

These scammers target their victims with incredible deals that are hard to pass up. When it comes to the firearms community, these deals are usually for ammunition. You might see deals that proclaim to save the buyer over 50%. These deals litter the pages of social media sites like Instagram with messages like “DM for orders.”

These scammers have also launched websites with names similar to legitimate ones, including AmmoLand News. We recently received reports of a website named Ammolandusa.com selling ammunition at massive discounts. Once a user places an order, they will receive an email asking the buyer to send money through Cash App, PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle.

And speaking of gunnie stuff, Sam Jacobs over at Ammo.com has a new and well researched article up on the most gun friendly states!

How does your state rank in gun ownership when compared to the rest? Our results are surprising! We took into account the current gun laws, current legislators’ past voting history, taxes, and more to bring you this comprehensive list for 2023.

About nothing but the truth???

Ya know, he’s NOT wrong…

Funny how this video has been out since MAY and the left is just now melting down over it…

Oh my…

Reality is slapping some of those ‘sanctuary cities’ upside the head…

It’s the most underreported story of the decade. And that’s just the way the Biden administration wants it.

The border crisis has moved north into Democratic-run big cities like New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Philadelphia. The illegal aliens are filling up homeless shelters and are being stuffed into makeshift shelters like schools and empty buildings as Democratic mayors scramble to prevent a humanitarian crisis in their cities.

The much-touted “Sanctuary Cities” are anything but, as New York City Mayor Eric Adams is proving with his latest effort to stem the flow of illegals into his town.

Apparently it’s fine if the Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Florida cities get overrun, but NIMBY is in effect for those blue cities…

Hypocrisy much???

The lights!!!

The @#%#% LIGHTS!!!

Had the next step in my cataract surgery yesterday, with the measurement of my eyeball for the new lens.

I ‘know’ they need to get good pictures and other things for the measurements, but dayum…

Four different stations, two different medications (one was a dilator),  and BRIGHT lights not once, not twice, but 3, 4, or 5 times in each eye. Thankfully, JimJim was good enough to ride along to OKC and drive me back.

I was still seeing ‘images’ of the light bars five hours later, and one helluva headache, so this post is a bit short, BUT it was progress! Now it’s just waiting for the next step, which should be the actual lens replacement and being able to see clearly again!

Oh, and sections of I-44 now have a speed limit of 80 mph!

Book promo and other ‘stuff’…

The proof for Rimworld- Diversions came back looking good, so it is now available in paperback! I’ve ordered author copies, but who knows how long those are going to take… sigh

Click the cover for the Amazon link!

And Alma T.C. Boykin has a new story out The Wolves and the Ice Lion

The blurb-

The Vosges Mountains hold their secrets well. So do the hearts of men.

Arnauld d’Loup commands the Wolf’s Paws, a most unusual company of warriors. Comtessa Leoni d’Vosges commands magic and needs men. Powers ancient and dark move through her lands, and wise men tread warily. Especially a man who carries a curse in his blood, a curse that resonates with those powers.

When Comtessa Leoni makes a terrible choice to protect her lands, Arnauld d’Loup must make a choice of his own, one that may cost him his very soul.

Lastly, Larry made an interesting post talking about characters and readers perceptions of stories and the characters the readers remember…

Maybe I’m doing something right, as folks do seem to remember my characters by name and comment on them. 🙂

And thanks to those who bought Rimworld- Diversions and left honest reviews! They are really appreciated!
