Had my first run-in with a CovidKaren yesterday…

%$&$* CovidKarens… At the local big grocery store, standing in line to check out. Older (well older than me) fellow behind me with no mask. CovinKaren goes by the front of the aisle, sees him and backs up to come down the aisle and confront him. She starts in on him in a loud obnoxious voice, pushing her cart at him to mark her ‘exclamations’. He finally says very quietly, “Shut it, bitch. I’m 87, I have one lung after getting shot in Nam. Ain’t wearing no damn mask cause I can’t breathe. Go the hell away.”
She gets damn near hysterical at this point and he turns slightly. And she sees the Ruger SAA on his hip, open carried… She almost screams, “He’s got a gun on!” She starts backing up and almost backs into me.
I tell her to go away and she goes to start in on me, and I add, “So do I, but mine’s under my shirt.”
She turned pale, left her cart, and headed for the exit… LOL
The older man and I both start laughing just as the manager comes up. He asked what was going on, and when it was explained, we could see his eyes crinkle. He just shook his head and walked off, pushing her half full cart.

Crap like this is why I usually shop at my small town local grocery. They don’t worry about masks, and they know most of the locals, so we don’t have any issues.

In the Oopsie category, we have this story! Shades of Seattle, anyone?

While members of the Richmond City Council are in the midst of talking about defunding the police department, one of their very own council members got a swift taste of the bad side of the mob they’re considering caving to.

And, ironically, the council member is upset that police didn’t intervene to the level of her desire.

And I’m seeing a lot of meltdowns about the federal response in Portland. Seems that everybody on the left, up to and including Pelosi and Schumer are calling them ‘stormtroopers’ and ‘promising’ to do something…

Some of the people screaming about this ‘should’ know better. Having seen real secret police in action, and seen people shot for simply walking in the wrong place, these people have NO idea how much restraint the LEOs are actually using. Outside the US, if the SP take you, the odds are you will be ‘disappeared’ whether guilty or innocent. And they aren’t polite when they do it.

One of the biggest complaints seems to be that they are using unmarked vehicles and don’t have nametags/badges/nametapes on. The left is ignoring the fact that their minions are ATTACKING police vehicles anytime they can, and are actively doxxing any LEOs they can get info on.

By using unmarked cars, and being low key, but with insignia on their uniforms, they are preventing scenes from degrading into riots, and if they people questioned aren’t the right ones, they are released. There is NO requirement to Mirandize anyone whom they have photo or video evidence of… on the scene.

I’m convinced what the left wants is a shooting by LEOs at a riot, where one of the ‘choirboys’ or ‘choirgirls’ will be killed.

It almost happened in Chiraq Saturday night…

Dozens of people in the crowd who were clad in all-black clothing rushed the nearby statue, surrounding the short stone wall that circled it. Some began throwing objects, such as cans and fireworks, at the officers. A few people tried to climb over the wall and were met with officers smacking their batons at them.

About 18 officers were injured, some of whom were treated at the scene and others at area hospitals, Chicago police spokesman Thomas Ahern said. About a dozen people were arrested and face pending charges ranging from battery to a police officer to mob action, Ahern said. He said the aerosol used by officers was pepper spray.

On a sadder note, USS Bonhomme Richard (Bonnie Dick) is done…

The party line from the Navy is “it’s too soon to tell” but the forward mast has melted down due to fire in the island, at least three major holes were burned through the flight deck (that is where the helos were dropping water).  The word is a lot of her internal structure is gutted, etc.  Reality is she is probably beyond economic repair. If that is true, she will be written off as a BCM9 code. The CNO went aboard yesterday, link HERE.

Rumors are circulating that both USS Peleliu (decommissioned March 2015) and USS Nassau (March 2011) are being looked at to be brought out of the White Fleet and put back in service as a stopgap measure.

Um… it’s not grown here for other that ornamental or food use. And there is no ‘path’ to get it here in enough volume to actually be useful. OBTW, it also grows to a height of up to 2-4 FEET high in areas where conditions mimic the tropical habitat of their origin. Plants like lots of heat, light, and moisture in rich, loamy soil.
