Neat video…

I got nothing this morning, so you get a video…

I find it kinda funny that the BBC has to come to the US to do the article, when US media apparently can’t be bothered…

It does prove Galileo’s theory once and for all, and a lot more unequivocally than the little vacuum tube experiments we did in school. 🙂

On the road…

Going to be on the road for the next two weeks, so light posting, commenting, pretty much everything.

Go read the good folks on the sidebar, and enjoy NOT having to put up with my brain drivel for a while!!!

I’ll be doing some volunteer stuff, then attending meetings in Jacksonville.

This one depicts the Spitfire Mk.XIVe as flown by Flying Officer Burgwal of 322 (Dutch) Squadron. Burgwal was a high scoring V-1 killer with 19 kills. This image shows one of his kills, this time by tipping over the V-1 flying bomb that was headed for London. This would make the V-1 crash as it had no ailerons or internal systems that could compensate for this unbalance.

The painting is by Wiek Luijken. He is an Art Director working for Criterion Games / EA and previously a director for game trailers and sometimes commercials.

Random Stuff…

In the WANT category… Sigh…

XKSS

I have seen ONE real one in the Goodwood Museum in England…

But it appears Jaguar is actually going to ‘finish’ the build run of nine ‘continuation’ models built on original chassis, to original specs, with correct VIN codes…

The remaining nine will now be rebuilt and sold as continuation models, each with an expected price tag of more than £1 million (approximately $1.44 million). Handling the project is the recently announced Jaguar Land Rover Classic department

Anybody got a spare $1.5M laying around they aren’t using??? 🙂

Another Oopsie…

You gotta wonder sometimes…

“During a routine maintenance procedure Wednesday, a Loudoun County transportation employee found an explosive training material on a school bus used in an exercise by a Federal Government agency last week,” the initial email stated. “The explosive training material was in a benign state and could not be activated through normal operation of the bus.”

First it was TSA ‘forgetting’ to take ‘training’ drugs out of a bag, then it was the Fibbies, now it’s the CIA…

Full article HERE.

It appears ‘somebody’ can’t follow, or just DIDN’T follow a checklist and actually confirm ALL the training material has been recovered before they leave the training site? And it makes one wonder why train on a school bus???

Detachment flight schedules sometimes got interesting…

Det flight sked

Jeddah more so than most… Stuck off in the far right corner of the airport, you never knew who or what might show up in the middle of the night…

Jeddah

Dets tended, over the years, to be ‘interesting’ regardless of when/where one ended up. They ranged from one crew/one airplane, to 6-7 airplanes from multiple locations with minimal support, basically whatever could be scrounged at that particular location. Air Force C-130s were always a good source of parts for the P-3s, as we had the same engines… Just the 130s had theirs upside down! 🙂

Liberal ‘logic’…

It’s ‘official’, not all pigs are equal…

In response to a question on one of the morning shows, Ron Fournier said-

“I do understand that when somebody is running for president, there is a higher bar that you have to get over because we can’t have a system in which we are constantly charging people who are running for president of crimes.”

Before you go read the article, make sure you’ve taken your BP meds…

If this were ANYBODY else, they would already be in jail, multiple times over!!! Anybody that, at this point, doesn’t believe there is a double standard in effect, is either blind or willfully ignorant of what is going on…

The WAPO is actually putting up a an article, HERE, with a rough timeline and some of the people involved, along with email snippets, but interesting maintains the claims that ‘no one knew this was a private server’… BS!!!

I simply cannot believe this has drug out as long as it has. I’ve seen people hung out to dry/prosecuted MUCH faster, but then again they weren’t political figures…

A blast from the past!!!

Anybody remember Mall Ninjas???

Gecko45???

Miguel over at GunFreeZone has a link up HERE to the compilation of derp that was Gecko45…

If you need a good laugh, or wondered where the terms came from, this thread on Glock Talk is what started it all in 2001!

Sadly, this one doesn’t include all the comebacks/questions/BS calls from many on GT to Gecko45, those were as humorous, cynical and sarcastic in turns and amazingly Gecko45 never got the fact that none of us believed him after the first couple of posts…

There was another go-round on this back in 2007, and this graphic popped up on THR, in THIS thread…

MallNinja

In 2010, this one showed up, courtesy of CalGuns forum HERE.

geardo

There are others floating around out there, including the fat kid with all the crap hanging off him and an airsoft M4… sigh…

Anyhoo, thanks to Miguel for giving us a laugh!!! 🙂

The group first activated in August 1942 as the 325th Fighter Group at Mitchel Field, New York. After training, the group moved to North Africa in 1943, where it flew combat missions with the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, earning a Distinguished Unit Citation for actions over Sardinia for engaging a superior force of enemy aircraft and destroying more than half of them. The group was withdrawn from combat in the fall of 1943 and re-equipped with the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. After moving to Italy, the group re-entered combat, earning a second Distinguished Unit Citation in January 1944. The group continued in combat until VE Day, returning to the United States in the fall for inactivation.

If you had or knew anyone in the 325th, HERE is a link to their organizational webpage.

The lineage still exists, as this unit flys today as the 325th Operations Group out of Tyndall Field in Florida, flying the F-22.
